For sale is a flower frog from Dazey Flower Holder Co. It is marked No. 12. L. A. Cal. Pat'd 8-19-16. The frog is missing some of it's green paint. But has a very nice patina. I never tried to take it off due to its age. So if you so choose to try it, that will be up to the buyer. I love it just as it is, and I didn't want to damage it since it is very old. They also put this crate together upside down. Most you see are right side up for reading the front and backs, but this one the front is upside down and the back is blank due to the fact they put the wrong side out. Fine 19C Coconut Ladle Dipper Sailor Folk Primitive Art Americana Indo Oceanic
Up for offer is what looks to be an authentic 1800s/ 19th century sailor's primitive folk art ladle(laddle) or dipper featuring a coconut shell with metal fastener and a nicely turned wood handler. Not sure if this is early maritime Americana or perhaps Indo-Pacific or even European in origin. Very similar to the painted-version(the last photo) that sold online for $600- minus of course my example having no painted details. Thru the 1700's onward. Coconuts were imported to Europe as well as America. The shells were oftens used for scrimshaw carving and utilitarian items like this dipper. Some were elaborately painted or carved or included bone or tusk-derived material or exotic woods and other materials including silver or pewter mounts. I'm not sure of what kind of wood was used for the handle but the metal-mounts seem to be ... morepewter. A few fine cracks but still very stable and expected with age. You are bidding on an antique primitive wood bocce ball set in good antique condition. These balls do show surface wear. Dings, nicks, cracks and wear(see pictures) consistent with age, use and storage. This set contains four(4) large plain surface balls and four(4) balls each of which have two engraved lines going around them, I assume to differentiate between the balls of the opposite team. One(1) small ball is plain surface and the other has a bit of a red stripe around it. The larger balls weigh approximately 1-3/4 lbs. each. Up for your bid is a genuine metal milking stool straight from the farm. This stool had some rust. So it was sand blasted and sprayed with primer gray Rustoleum paint- so it is ready to paint any color you desire(great painting surface for the tole artist,too. This is a 3 legged stool with hand forged welded joints. It measures 12 3/4 inches high, 9 3/4 inches in diameter. There is a handy hole for hanging( these were hung on a nail with legs facing outward. There is another hole where the metal was weak along the edge and broke through, doesn't affect its usability, just gives it an extra dose of character. 1 Vintage Tribal Rug Ethnic Primitive Woven Pillow Case Llamas Etc Weft Face
No Reserve Auction Please read entire description and study photos! Vintage woven pillow case throw pillow design element/ feature probably from Peru or the Andes. As llamas and mountains are a feature 18" x 18" I believe this is Natural Handspun Wool. But could be plant fiber or a mix. Wool is generally used in the Andean region. I consulted a weaver on this and this is the general conclusion: I believe the background of these pillow covers are woven in plain weave, using a tapestry technique so that the wool weft fully covers the warp threads. The little figures seem to be formed using knotting techniques. Such as soumak. Or knotted pile. And yes, these techniques are technically known as supplementary weft patterning. So the weaver is weaving away at the background. Probably using several colors in different sections, and then ... moreshe has little bobbins of yarn that she uses to form the figures. She weaves knots with these little bobbins on the warp threads. Then weaves the background wefts in between each row of knots to pack them in securely. She can clip them to form plush as in the little figures. The back of the pillow. Where the zipper is concealed, is not the same style(see pics 9 and 10) Maybe Chinchero? Aguayo? Purchased at a Highland Park. Dallas estate sale, stored in a trunk with others and appeared to have been stored for some time at that point. No earlier details known. But the original estate was the home of someone who traveled internationally, frequently. So pinning down origin is difficult. Condition is very good. Pictures show edges. Corners, weaving details. These have never been used. Auction is for the case only. Will look better with appropriate stuffing. I'm sure. Photos taken in a mix of natural and artificial light I suspect vegetable dyes. Primitive Antique Carved Wood Bowl Old estate find. This is a nice carved wood bowl, very nice condition with original finish, nice thick sturdy walls, no cracks. Bowl measures 11" by 10.25" I am told that these bowls were made in a round shape and as the wood dries they become more oblong in shape. Wooden bowls need to be seasoned by rubbing a small amount of quality vegetable oil into their basin. This keeps food from sticking and prevents splitting and cracking. Seasoning also enhances the look of the grain. This process should be repeated every few days for a week or two and at least once a year thereafter. The outside of bowls can be waxed for a high shine. Most importantly. Never use soap to clean woodenware, which can cause it to dry and split. Once properly seasoned.
