Antique Primitive Stoneware Salt Glaze Sexy Brown Milk Pitcher
This 7" tall pitcher has the handle coming from the lip in a continuous flow. It is a wide mouth and a curvy body. Which is why I described it as sexy. The handle is also formed very crudely and is uneven. There is a slight decoration on each side of the handle of a flower or dragonfly. It is hard to see because there are so many layers of glaze. The bottom is glazed and has blobs where it has collected on the underneath edge. I think it is very old and a little different. Please contact me if you have any questions. Cowrie Shell Primitive Folk Art Carved with Wind Swept Sea Maiden Playing Harp
For Auction is this beautiful Carved Cowrie Shell. It depicts a sea Maiden with garments blowing in the wind and playing a harp. She is pictured in a imaginative setting of a cave with the sea lapping beneath her. This is my interpretation. Possibly some Sea Folk Tale. To the bottom part of the shell are carved stylised shells. I will leave the precise dating of the shell to the experts. Judging by the primitive stylised carving of the face it looks to be early 19th Century. Regency period possibly? The shell has been tastefully mounted on a stand and turned into a lamp at some time in the past. Judging by the fitting. The lamp holder and wiring it would have been done in the 1920s/ 30s. The casting to the base shows a winged organic man. Possibly a green man of the forest. A lovely stand that looks to be 19th Century in date. I have not ... moreattempted to remove the shell from the base as it is very secure or remove the light fitting from the shell although this is quite loose. I have no idea if it will light up and work as it was intended. If the wire was removed the shell it would display beautifully without the use of artificial light. Will enhance any collection. Old Antique Primitive 5 Ft. Wall Mount Coat Hook Rail w/ 14 Cast Iron Coat Hooks
Here's an old or antique primitive wall mount coat hook rail we received from an an old farm here in NH recently. This one is about 62 inches long or just over 5 ft in length. It has 14 antique cast iron coat hooks of a relatively simple style attached as shown in the photos. The wood rail has some pencil markings. Screw holes, etc acquired over the years from the time it was made. I'd guess it to be from the late 1800's to very early 1900's. One of the old long square nails used to mount it was with it and is shown in one of a pictures. In examining the rail itself there were two areas where wood fragments have been lost over time. One is near the center of the rail along the bottom edge and we show this in 2 photos. The other is on the left end and we who this in 2 photos as well. Don't think they are detractive but ... moreshould be mentioned. Nice old decorative item overall. That's about it. The pictures should be helpful to those having interest. Antique. Wooden dough bowl. From the late 1800's, this was aquired from an Estate sale which was in a series of 6 other antique dough bowls from the same era of the late 1800's. It measures 13 by 12 1/4 diameter. This bowl was hand made making it slightly oval and not perfectly round. Does have some age patina(staining) on the inside bottom and some scratching from use, but consistent with it's extremly old antique age. Good shape with no chips or cracks. Estate Folk Art Antique Old Primitive 5 String Wood Banjo Project Open Back
Fantastic folk art very nice primitive antique banjo It is made of metal and wood. There are many metal hooks that hold the cover in place. The tuning knobs are slightly worn but still function. One is missing, The bass string had a tuner knob half way down the neck for a better sound quality, it is not there. This is quite an old piece and could be successfully restored to be a real conversation piece that you could play or a very nice decorative. There are mother of pearl inlays in the neck and some of them are slightly damaged or dirty, one is missing, but still mostly intact. I have included a lot of photographs to show condition and have a realistic idea of the piece. Approx. 18" dia. x 5" deep. ~GREAT condition! No chips or cracks! There are some dark places maybe from a fire long ago and the very bottom has some white sap I think inside the wood grooves. Hand carved wooden dough bowl with four feet made in the early 20th Century. This footed bowl was carved from a single piece of wood. Unknown wood type but is of medium to light weight. Perhaps pine. Beautiful contrast of stenciled flowers on black paint and pastel peach or pink painted interior. This marvelous bucket was built to last. This one was the result of multiple patents. Some of which are listed on the underside. It is in good shape with some"character" cracks in the paint on the inside. It measures 9 1/2" tall. N.Y. and also, Portland, Maine, created this popular single piece bucket through a process of wood pulp compression that retained its shape and resisted water and weather. Primitive antique hard to find cream w red trim enamelware household wash pail
Very rare find! These pails are very hard to find in any condition at all. This one still has its original wood grip on handle and most of its original color! There are enamel chips- especially on bottom and some rust. But it does not leak. This one is a small pail- even harder to find- about 6" x 10" top rim diameter. Vintage Munising Dough Bowl, Oval 11.75" Primitive yet Elegant, Signed
For auction is a very handsome example of a Munising dough bowl. Based on the mark on the bottom(straight script with rounded top M) this bowl would have been made anywhere from the late 1930's to mid 1950's. My guess. Based on other Munising bowls I've seen, would be early to mid 1940's. This bowl is especially nice because not only is it oval, but it's also slightly lower on one side, which gives it an elegant"swirl" effect. SIZE: It is 11.75" long and 10-3/8" wide. The height at each long end is approx. 2-5/8 inches; but the height on the sides is approx. 2.5" and 2-3/8" respectively. CONDITION: This bowl has been used! The result is a rich patina with color variations throughout. The photographs make it appear brighter than it is. The second photograph is the most representative. And of ... morecourse there are quite a few scratches and worn spots from years of chopping dough. To the touch, the wood has a cool damp feel, which suggests to me that it may have been submerged in water. These bowls should be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth or sponge and treated periodically with a food grade mineral oil. My advice for this beauty would be to give it a rest for several months and use it to sore hard fruits such as apples, pears, oranges, etc. It will look stunning on a kitchen counter, sideboard, or even as a centerpiece on a dining table. Thank you for interest in this really wonderful piece of primitive utilitarian furniture from Appalachia. It is a hand-made wooden medicine cabinet cobbled together from wood. Nails and screws, old mismatched brackets, and metal straps. It has a framed piece of old mirror in the center of the door and features a lovely old latch. Inside there are two shelves, dust, and a couple of cobwebs. The words'rustic' and'primitive' do not do this piece justice! it measures about 24" tall. 16.5" wide, 4.5" deep. This barn-find piece has been time-tortured to perfection and is certainly one-of-a-kind. Honestly. This thing is art. I purchased out of an estate sale, and I was told it was used to create hand made greeting cards. Whether you want to use it, or display it as the stand alone piece of hand made art that it is- you can't go wrong. It measures 7" by 5" by 1" thick and this one weighs just a smidge under 1 lb. It is a beautifulbeautiful Madonna and Child image- the detail is exquisite- you can see every hand carved not. Both she and the Christ child are looking serenely at each other- Christ reaching up to her. You can see hints of both blue and black ink on the block- on the sides and the face. The back of the block- affixed to the wood, is a thick paper board- a little thicker than a cardstock. It is peeling off in a teenie spot on ... moreone corner- you can see it in my photos- it's on the back corner only, and not even enough to need tacking down. On one end of the block, you can read the size 5X7, as well as a price 85 cents. You can also see.75 next to the.85- through some black ink that was used to try to cover it! It is in excellent condition- very primitive in design, and just lovely and unique! Please ask if you have any questions. For all human beings who have a problem of saying"no" to too many requests. Here is the saying to remind yourself how you get caught up in your own making. STRESS is when your mouth says yes and your gut says no. I have hand stitched all the words with black floss onto muslin fabric. The frame was painted black. Distressed, and then given a couple coats of interior varnish. A sawtooth hanger was added for hanging. The outside dimensions are 8 1/4 inches by 6 1/4 inches.
