The back plates are solid brass. This is a rather large and heavy set. Meant to be secure for an exterior door. I didn't polish these as some people prefer the aged patina on them. But they would polish up beautifully. There is a threaded lock that was in it. But no key, so it would have to be re-keyed or replaced. A brass one would be more fitting. The deadbolt locks from the inside and the locking latch works. The mortise face is approx. 1 1/8 X 7 9/16 inches. The mortise body is approximately 3 7/8 inches from the front of the face to the back of the mortise and about 5 1/2 high. The larger back plate measures approx.10 X 2 3/4 inches. ORIGINAL DARK PATINA REMAINS. CONDITION: THE PIN HINGE IS ORIGINAL. THERE IS A VERY SLIGHT WIBBLE TO THE KNOCKER WHEN WIGGLED LEFT/RIGHT. THIS IS A NORMAL CONDITION FOR A PIECE OF THIS AGE. THERE IS A CLEAR HARDENED MATERIAL THAT WAS DRIZZLED OVER THE TOP OF THE PIECE. HONESTLY IT LOOKS LIKE A CLEAR GLUE. THE KNOCKER IS DEFINITELY NOT CRACKED.
