Up for auction are these 4 antique glass pulls. Victorian! I was told by an glass person that they may be Sandwich glass. I am not certain so there are no guarantees. The top three in the photo are ornate and large. They measure 2 inches in diameter. Two are in excellent condition. The other has a nice chip off the base. It does not affect its’ use and not visible when mounted. The smaller pull at the bottom of the photo is also ornate and measures 1 ½ inches in diameter. It has a bigger chunk missing from the base. This is a nice old Victorian set of 6 large white opaline glass door knobs. Circa 1860-1880s. They measure 1&5/8 inches tall, 2&1/4 inches wide on the top, and 1&5/16 inches wide on the base. They are in great condition with minor nicks on the base of two, that will never harm the use of these fine old door knobs. Each set consists of 2 iron knobs, 2 stamped iron escutcheons, 1 iron mortise lock with 1 key, 1 steel strike plate for the jamb, and 1 spindle with 2 setscrews. Originally. All parts were brass plated, however, some of the brass wore off of over the years leaving the parts with a nice, distressed finish. Please note that the amount of plating varies from part to part. The set was salvaged from the Midwest. At the point of salvage. Some parts were painted, and all were dirty and unevenly tarnished(see last photo) Since then, we've removed the paint, and cleaned and polished each part to the best of our ability. We were careful while cleaning to preserve as much of the plating as possible. The hardware is in good condition. All parts show signs of some light scratches and are free of breaks. Cracks, chips, or heavy scratches. We opened, inspected, and sprayed WD-40 on the parts inside of each lock to function more smoothly. Modern Solid Aluminum Exterior Deadbolt Entry Door Lockset Knobs Plates Lock Key
Penn Antique Restoration. Modern Aluminum Door Set Knobs Plates Lock& Strikeplate. Mid Century Modern. Heavy-duty, commercial grade hardware made by"Russwin" of New Britain, CT around the middle of the previous century. The set consists of 2 aluminum knobs, 2 stamped aluminum escutcheons, 1 steel mortise cylinder with 2 working keys, 1 steel mortise lock with an aluminum faceplate, 1 bronze strike plate for the door jamb, and 1 split spindle with a securing nut and a pin. The whitish lines or bands in the latches of the lock are made of some kind plastic. Since this set was used for commercial installation. It was designed to be strong and secure. The exterior knob is permanently affixed to the spindle with a securing pin. Once the knob is mounted on the escutcheon, the tall collar of the plate bars access to the pin. The only ... moreway you could access the pin is by loosening the screw and removing the knob on the other side of the door. The lock is not reversible. And it could only accommodate a door that swings into a home, towards the right. If your door swings in the other direction, you could still install this set, but you would have to install it upside down, with the knobs on top, and cylinder mortise on the bottom. The mortise lock is locked by pushing the bottom button on the faceplate. And unlocked by either pushing the top button or using a key. Once locked, the door could only be opened by turning the knob on the interior side of the door, or by using the key on the exterior side of the door. This is a very convenient feature for the person inside of the room. No more locking and unlocking to let someone in. Simply turn the knob, open the door, let someone in, close the door and it's already locked. To disable the auto-lock feature, simply push the bottom button. The knobs and plates have a simple. Each set consists of 2 iron knobs, 2 stamped iron escutcheons, 1 iron mortise lock with 1 working key, 1 iron strike plate for the door jamb, and 1 spindle with 2 setscrews. Originally, the knobs and plates were brass or copper plated; however, some of the plating wore off over the years leaving the parts with a nice, distressed finish. The amount of plating varies from part to part(see"Group photos" for a visual) The knobs have a circular form and the escutcheons have a lovely. Oval form. Both knobs and escutcheons have beaded ... moretrim. At the point of salvage. Some parts were painted, and all were dirty, and rusty(see last photo) We spent hours removing the paint and carefully cleaning and polishing all parts, trying to preserve as much of the plating as possible. All parts have tiny nicks and light scratches. Which is common for hardware this old. Otherwise. All parts are in great shape with no breaks, cracks, chips, dents, or deep scratches. The shank(base) of one of the knobs are slightly loose. If you hold the face of the knob with one hand. And the shank with the other and attempt to turn it; it will turn about 1/32" 1/16" From experience, I know that even if you turn as hard as you could in attempt to completely detach the shank from the knob, you will sooner break the knob than detach the base or cause more looseness. This happens naturally, over time, to some knobs and is not a serious concern. We mentioned it so that you're not surprised and worried when you receive your hardware. We opened. Era is probably late 1800's. Acquired in 1996 and in storage since that time. The door plates measure 7 inches(18 centimeters) by 2 1/4 inches(5 cm 7 mm) The door knobs as shown are 6 inches(about 15 centimeters) long. Offering a mid 1900s mortise lock set. Two backplates. Mortise lock and handles. Made of pressed steel with brass plating. The mortise lock box is aluminum. The catch and lock mechanism are cast iron with brass plating. The handle catch can be reversed, for use on right or left hand opening doors. This has a great return spring on the handle, working skelton key deadbolt(no key) MEASUREMENTS: The backplates are 2 1/4" x 7" The locks face plate is 5 1/4" long x 7/8" wide. The lock is 3 1/4" deep from face. 3 1/2" tall, 1/2" thick. The handle opening sets back 2 3/8" from face plate to handle center. The top of key hole is 2" below the center of the handle opening. Offering an antique cast iron rim lock set. The rim lock comes with the keeper/side catch. A set of white porcelain door knobs, cast iron back plate and skeleton key. The handle latch can be reversed, for use on right or left hand opening doors. This has a great return spring on the handle, working keyed deadbolt and working night latch MEASUREMENTS: Keeper and rim lock are 4" tall. Rim lock is 3 1/8" wide and 3 7/8" wide including the keeper. Handle center sets back 2 1/2" from lock face.Key hole top is 2" below handle center. CONDITION: Great working condition.
