Big lot of buttons + Hake book, great collection starter or dealer lot
Offered here is a nice big lot of buttons and Ted Hake's Encyclopedia of Political Buttons 1896-1972. Ted book is a great reference for Presidential buttons. There are several books in the series and I bought the entire series leaving me with an extra of his original book. So there you have it. It's offered here with a crazy big lot of 77 buttons. You have presidential candidates from McKinley-Obama and some locals thrown in for good measure. There are even a couple non-politicals tossed in so that I can clean our my button drawer. I'm only going to comment below on a few of the buttons. So please review the photos carefully. They should be high def scans so you should be able to see everything in detail. What I attempt to outline below are buttons that have some flaw that is worse than the average used button. 1. The green and ... morewhite"Win with Taft" had some tacky material on the front like it was taped to something at one time. My guess is that it can be cleaned off if you're careful. It's on the cover of the cello so the button itself is structurally sound. 2. The Wilson/Marshall jugate has some discoloration. 3. The Hughes has some discoloration. 4. The McKinley with the stars is in pretty bad shape. The cello is cracked and the paper is discolored. 5. The large Jimmy Carter for President has ome yellowing in the lower half 6. The Reagan Bush Peace through Strength has some discoloration along the rim. 7. The Clinton's new tune has discoloration in the upper half I'm pricing these buttons to sell. Based on auction results the 4 Harding buttons. The Roosevelt/Wallace buttons and the Smith Robinson button have a combined auction value of $60. That leaves 70 buttons and the Hake book to get you value for your collection or vendor lot. Shipping will be via a medium priority mail flat rate box.

Description Pair of wonderful antique Victorian hallmarked sterling silver large buttons. Which depict a 16th century Spaniard. Each button is fully hallmarked, with lion passant mark for sterling silver, the Birmingham assay office mark, the date letter a for 1900 and the makers mark WH for William Hayes. AGE Assayed in 1900. SIZE The buttons each measure 3.1cm(1¼" in diameter. CONDITION The buttons are in a very good condition for age.
