This sheet isn't dated but mentions that the Koken Company had 75 years experience which I think places this catalog sheet to about 1949 or so based on the company being founded in 1874. This is a rare find, straight from a very high end estate. This vintage antique Art Deco Barber's porcelain sink is from a local Brooklyn New York Barber shop and purchased by us here in Utah after the woman's father passed she decided to sell it. The chrome is outstanding and shines bright, one of the side faucets has the"C" for cold but missing the"H" for hot on the right, rarely seen handle. The interior of the sink and around the front top has some wear to the porcelain and the back end underneath of the pedestal has a few lines showing it's age. Otherwise in excellent condition and ready to install, and yes it works! Great gift for the barber ... morechair enthusiast or for the Art Deco collector that simply wants what very few have or ever will have. The sink is imprinted with date of manufacture as is the pedestal 1-11-1933 and 1-13-1933 by the Standard Sanitary Mfg. Selling an early 1900's koken Congress Hydraulic Chair in very good condition made of quarter sawn white oak with a golden finish and ornate carvings on the sides. it looks to have all of its parts including a headrest and the razor strap. Civil War Era Antique Walker Browne Oak Portable Dentist Chair 1882 Barber Koken
The Skeleton Key is very proud to offer for sale an original 1882 Walker Browne Portable Dentist Chair made by the Walker Browne Dental Company. This chair was made for the traveling dentist and was carried from town to town in a horse and carriage. Chair is in exceptional condition with minor nicks and scratches here and there. There is one repair that I can see on the left where the recline bar adjustment attaches to the back rest. A dowel was placed in the screw hole for reinforcement. It has no breaks or cracks. All original hand forged iron bolts. Nuts and hardware. Not sure if leather seat is a replacement and if so how long ago it was done. Has wrinkles from use so, not really sure. Velvet on head rest is in pristine condition with some light wear on the lower right and left area. Two versions of the chair were available, the plain ... moreoak version and the antique oak version with metal parts. This is the antique oak version. I sat on it(130 lbs) and it was solid as a rock All I did was bring the wood back to life with some orange oil polish. Please see the old tin type I found of the chair in use and two old newspaper advertisements for the chair as well. I have done extensive research on this chair and cannot find another example anywhere in any other shop or site. Not even at the Dental Museum in South Carolina. They have two similar examples in their collection, but not the Walker Browne. The first technologically driven barber chair was patented by Koken in 1878, this chair has a patent date of 1882 so it is a very early example of very innovative designs and engineering including 7 different levels of height adjustment, three angles of reclining, adjustable head and foot rest, and of course the ability to fold up. Up for auction is an Antique Kochs Barber Chair and Barber's Station. Used in my family owned Barber Shop in the 1950's and now being stored in a home. The Barber Station includes the light fixtures and sink but not any of the products or personal items. Chair is all original and has never been restored. It's in good condition for it's age with some rust on the base and minor tears on the left armrest and seat. Awesome vintage Modecraft barber chair. The chair Has a green base with orange vinyl seat and chrome footrest and adjustment bar. The chair is in great vintage condition hydraulic lift for height adjustment works great and material is in great shape there is a small burn on set and the stitching has come loose on backrest. But otherwise a truly fantastic chair. The chair can be used as a barber chair salon chair tattoo chair so many different uses including possibly a funky lounge chair.
