Vintage 7.75" Arts & Crafts Japanese Pottery Vase
This a Vintage 7.75" Japanese Pottery Vase. It appears to be a piece produced as a Japanese interpretation of the Arts& Crafts style. In 1921 the US started requiring the country of origin to be stated in English on imports. Since the vase is marked"MADE IN JAPAN" rather than Japan or Nippon. And since the Arts& Crafts Movement last from about the 1880s to 1930, our assumption is that the vase is circa 1920s during the latter part of the movement. PLEASE NOTE: The lady we purchased this from was selling items from her parents and grandparents estate. We actually purchased two vase in this style that seem to have obviously been created by the same maker. The larger one(not show in the top photo) is 10 1/4" tall. The larger one has a long hairline crack on one side with a small 1 MM chip along the crack at one point. ... moreAnd a few minor scrapes in the glaze on the top rim. We decided to feature only the smaller vase in the top and gallery photo, and set the price for that vase alone. However, we are including the larger vase with the listing as well. If you bid on the smaller vase, you are welcome to attribute whatever additional value you feel is appropriate to the larger vase. If you win the listing, and want only the smaller vase, there will be no discount in the price. This is an antique mission oak chair with a partial label on the bottom. It measures 42 inches in total height. 18 inches in seat height, 16 inches in frontal length, 15 inches in depth. It is original condition, original finish. The label on the bottom is covered in plastic but it looks like it said Mission Furniture Co. Chicago. It has very desirable look with shape and dimensions. Antique Arts&Crafts Pine Dresser Harp&Mirror Frame (no glass) good condition
Antique Arts&Crafts Style Pine( with dark finish) Dresser Harp and Mirror Frame(no glass) I believe it originally was on a highboy style dresser which is a tall narrower width wise with 5 or 6 drawers rather than a 3 or 4 drawer lower dresser. The width of this harp and mirror is about 32 1\2 inches wide which would more than likely be too short for a lower type dresser because they are usually high 30's to 40's inches wide. The measurements are the total height to the top of the mirror from the bottom is about 23" and the height of the post(harp sides) would be 20 3\4" The outside measurements of the mirror itself is 22 1\2" wide and 20 1\2" tall and the glass itself would you get to put in the frame is 20 1\2 x 22 1\2 inches. The original mirror hinges are both there and the back wood supports are also there. ... moreJust to let you know this harp and mirror was made to sit on the back edge of the top thus the support strips which screw on to the very back of the dresser itself verses the type that sets in the space on back and actually screws into the top itself. The arts&crafts connection is the way the two harp uprights are cut as was the style in that era(see photos#4 and#6) If you needed to cut down the width of the whole unit the small extensions on the left and right on the very bottom could be changed or cut back according to your needs. Rustic Primitive Antique Early 1900s Arts& Crafts Era Oak Frame With Print I’m going to the flea market this weekend- so that means lots of new goodies for you! I’m also listing lots of blowout Buy-It-Now sales. So be sure to check out my other items- I’m always happy to combine shipping! I'm sorry about the wacky/literally over the top angle in my photos of this one- this was the only way I could avoid most of the glare. And I don't think my photos do this arts and crafts beauty justice. It's an oak frame from the early 1900s, with a sweet period print of a mother, holding her child with one hand, and holding the listening end of a candlestick telephone in he other hand, up to the child's ear. The frame measures 11 1/8" wide by 9 1/8" tall on the outside, with an inside opening of 7 1/2" by 5 1/2" ... moreThe finish on the frame is black, it's old(not original, I don't think, though) and quite worn, with spots of wear where you can see the grains of the wood, dark spots of finish(like what looks to be a thick drip of the black finish on one side by the corner, that I'm showing in photo 22) light spots, like I'm showing in photo 8, and minor small nicks(like in photo 10) scratches and scrapes- all giving it the rustic primitive title above. That being said, the frame is in excellent solid and sturdy condition, structurally- you can see a little bit of separation to the wood at the corner joints- but they are totally sturdy without wiggle or jiggle. On the back, you can see an old paper board held in by nails as well as an old wire- all may be original- including the print- I did not open the frame to inspect, but it looks like it could be. The print is in excellent condition- I see no rips, tears or issues. The glass of the frame is dirty and needs a good cleaning- you could polish the wood if you wanted to, too- but I'd leave it primitive as it is. This is a lovely old piece. Arts& Crafts Pitcher and Tankard Set This is a fantastic find! Here you have a large copper dovetailed pitcher banded with brass. It has a shapely hammered handle and a hammered spout. This massive piece weighs 2 pounds 7 ounces and measures 8 1/2" high x 8 3/4" wide(spout to handle) The four dovetailed tankards that appear to be made the same artisan. They have hammered shapely handles and hammered bands. The body of the tankard might be hammered as well but I am not positive. Two of the tankards have single bands and two have double bands. One tankard is reversed- the body is brass and the band is copper. I just adore this set! The tankards weight2 pounds 11 ounces together. They all roughly measure 4 1/2" high by 3 3/4" base diameter. It is made in a primitive fashion with uneven bands around the pot and different sized nails. Which attach the brass straps to the copper bucket. The copper handles are twisted pieces of a length of copper going through the hand turned brass fittings. The pot measures 5.5" tall to the top of the lid and 8" across the bottom. The bottom is curved and the lid has dents, but this is a very primitive piece and a wonderful example of Arts and Crafts. This is a large and impressive example of the beautiful. High-quality work that was produced in the Newlyn coppershops during the early 1900's. From Wikipedia: Late in the 19th century the fishing industry in Cornwall was becoming unreliable as a source of income: bad weather and seasonal fluctuations brought enforced periods of inactivity. ANTIQUE ROYCROFT ART POTTERY LITTLE BROWN JUG ARTS CRAFTS OVOID STONEWARE CROCK!
I am selling my highly collectible ANTIQUE early's ROYCROFT SHOPS ARTS& CRAFTS ART POTTERY" LITTLE BROWN JUG" As I need to downsize some of my pottery collections. This darling"Little Brown Jug" stands 5" tall X 4" at the widest point of the jug body. The spout sits 7/8" above the body and the handle is large enough to put a fat finger through. The handle sits 1 1/4" out to the side. This little jug is heavy art pottery stoneware in the traditional Arts& Crafts manner with the typical satin matte glaze. The glaze is a rich coffee brown and there are several decorative"rings" under the glaze at the widest point in the body(see photos) This was made by the Roycroft Shops out of Aurora NY in the early 1900's. The jug is marked on the unglazed underside with the Roycroft" ... moreR" in a circle below the stylized cross. The impression of the stamp is not deep. But legible. The jug is in very good antique condition, it is almost 100 years old! There are no cracks, chips or repairs however the rich brown glaze does have a few little"glaze pops" here and there in the glaze only, not the clay. There are three small glaze pops that are the size of a large pin head and another a bit larger, about 1/8" in diameter. Most of these are in one area so the jug will display nicely. They are old glaze pops that are often found on art pottery, as this is the nature of the glaze. This is not considered damage as these"pops" usually occurred during firing and manufacture. The glazes are never smooth and there are usually little lumps and bumps under the glaze. These pops are tiny and well documented in my pictures. Roycroft shops art pottery is highly collectible and this is a nice size. This would look perfect with your other primitives. Mission setting or for display with dried straw flowers. Gorgeous solid cherry wood& stunning legs.details. Details, details I lovingly& meticulously restored this wonderful and historic table/nightstand from top to bottom.This is a lovely Arts&Crafts style piece.This dates from circa 1890.This beauty is solid cherry.no veneer anywhere to be found. This has gorgeous"tiger" striped cherry on areas of the top with the classic grain patterns and beauty.When I acquired this table it was nearly black and the finish was destroyed.By hand I restored this entire table.Including a hand rubbed satin varnish which protects the cherry and brings out the depth and richness of the beautiful wood. I custom hand carved one of the decorative trim buttons from solid cherry. Pair Heintz Tall Tulip Candlesticks 15" Arts & Crafts Mission Era # 3093
I am definitely NOT knowledgeable about these items. I'll describe what I can and you'll have to view the photos and determine if the price is fair. The pair have some tarnish spots and are in uncleaned condition. I figured it was best to leave them and let an expert deal with the finish. One stick is marked#3093 and"pat appl for" The other stick is unmarked but definitely the mate. The"mate" has a small bend on one edge of the base and a spot on the"tulip" that is bright bronze. Bottom of both vases reads. Benedict Karnak Brass, 391" The six sided vases measure 6.50 inches tall. The base at its widest point measures 3.75 inches. California Arts and Crafts Hammered Copper Vase Unsigned- Circa 1910 Reddish-Brown Patina& Four Handles ~ please scroll down for more photos ~ Nice old Arts and Crafts hand hammered Arts and Crafts vase. Circa 1910 and in the style of Dirk Van Erp, but unsigned. Found in Northern California. SIZE: Height- 7.5" Width- 9" Weight- 2 lbs 15 oz. This large arts and crafts copper vase features and outwardly rolled rim. Four applied handles, a classic form and a raised foot. The applied patina is a very nice, rich reddish- Chocolate brown, probably original to the piece(in my opinion) The copper has been beautifully crafted into this difficult shape to form and the maker was obviously no amateur coppersmith. It may have been made by someone who once worked for Van Erp as it has the same type of'spotted' or'dimpled' ... morebottom(see photos) and the hammering style that that many Dirk Van Erp pieces have. Harry Dixon. August Tiesselinck, Agatha Van Erp, and others made pieces similar to this, however I am not able to definitely attribute the piece to a specific maker or individual since it is not signed and I have not seen another just like it. The four handles are unusual and the design may be a clue as to the maker. This piece is in very good condition with some slight wear to the patina. A few dark or small green spots on the body and wear to the bottom of the foot. No dents or other damage. PLEASE NOTE: The low opening bid. Vintage Slag Glass Lamp Shade with Winged Griffins Shown is a vintage caramel slag glass lamp shade with a very sturdy and ornate metal(lead) frame that features winged griffins. The frame has no breaks and no repairs and comes to you with its original untouched brass/gilded finish and aged patina. The shade measures 13 inches wide at the bottom(corner to corner) and 4 inches wide at the top and stands 7 inches tall. The 6 panels measure 6 inches at the bottom and 2 inches at the top. The glass panels are all in good condition with no cracks and no chips.

A RARE& fabulous Celtic revival folk art wooden poker work jewellery box. This maybe unique! A seven sided. With scalloped top and bottom, double hinged and velvet lined box. The top has the typical coloured poker work(see below) With the different shields representing The Four Provinces of Ireland. These shields are surrounded by a banner circle with Old Irish language script. Festooned all over with shamrocks. Handcarved letters that are really difficult to decipher. We can only have a guess at this as like"searching for an omen. Help needed here please? LOVE the choice of veneers on the sides- where the walnut grain figuring is carried from the lid to the body of the box. see image three) Some poker work on the bottom base. POKERWORK- PYROGRAPHY Pokerwork is the term used to describe the art of making pictures or patterns on wood. Sometimes using a series of deep grooves made by heated pokers. The process stems from the ancient craft of pyrography or wood burning. The technique of making pokerwork was revolutionised in the late 19th Century when it was discovered that by pumping benzoline fumes through a heated hollow platinum pencil. Water based paint could be applied hot to the wood. This greatly refined the production process allowing the addition of tinting and shading that previously were impossible. The majority of the works produced were intended to be decoratively utilitarian with items ranging from vases to breadboxes considered suitable for pokerwork crafting. Pine was the most commonly used timber because of its dense grain structure though cedar. Maple and willow were also used.
