Hale was a professor. Scholar, and founder of the Hale Classical and Scientific School. Professor Hale was a graduate of the University of Rochester and a leader in civic and religious activities in Rochester, NY. He served as President of the Board of First Baptist Church for many years, was an active Republican and know widely throughout the area for his extensive library. He died in February, 1925 at the age of 81. The top portion of the fireplace is about 72 inches wide and 24 inches deep. The top right corner of the fireplace has a missing piece that measures 4 inches wide by 1 inch deep. The top panel with all of the hand carved figures is about 18 inches tall. 60 inches wide, and 20 inches deep. The columns are each 42 inches tall. 6 inches wide, and 8 inches deep.
