Antique Hooked Rug, 57x37 EARLY!!! Needs edge repair. AAFA NR
ALCOTT ANTIQUES* EARLY LARGE HOOKED RUG. NEEDS EDGE REPAIR Measures 57" x 37" Here is an early C1860-90 hand hooked rug with terrific floral wreath design. Possibly used at the hearth. Made with wool fabric strips and wonderful colors throughout. The rug is wonderfully supple with excellent draping qualities. It is in need of restoration to the edge as someone has started this process but didn't finish it. There are 3 very good small repairs to the center area of the rug as shown from the back and front. The burlap around the edge is part of the intended restoration with new single dark edge hooks and then some other added hooks where needed(see 5th and 9th pics) Much of this burlap would be fine if hemmed in place but one end, especially, needs further attention. A slight stain in one corner visible in 1st and last photo but ... morein person, it is barely noticeable.the sunlight and digital photo made it more obvious. This is one of the wonderful Early American rugs that are so hard to find, very worthy of restoration. BEST colors and design with marvelous texture. Offered at NO RESERVE and only $95 to start. Early 19th C. Child Plate Creamware Reward of Merit For A Good Boy w/ Eagle AAFA
Very early 19th century creamware plate. Possibly made for the American market, a Reward of Merit type of ceramic, which would have been given as a gift! It reads"A Present for A Good Boy, and has an eagle underneath this motto(17 stars are also underneath the wings of the eagle and around it) The transferware is black with hand-clobbered paint decoration, of rusty red, green and blue. The plate measures approx. 7 1/4" in diameter and shows wear to the paint decorated leaves, which are raised around the edge of the plate. An invisible and very professional repair has been made to this plate to a hairline, which once went across. There are no other chips or cracks to this lovely ... moreearly plate; you might not ever know it had been repaired as it is quite beautiful; the glaze is perfect and was obviously restored by a master! SWEET ANTIQUE LANCASTER COUNTY PA AMISH CRIB QUILT BLUE & BLACK WITH HEART AAFA
SWEET EARLY ANTIQUE AMISH CRIB QUILT Description This is a sweet early antique Amish baby quilt that is 30 x 40 and the perfect size for a crib or antique cradle. I used it for a table topper but check out the pics below and you will see how sweet it is for yourself and it's MUCH better in person than my pics show! This is OLD! It has some wear on the front and I'm sure the back has been replaced with plain black fabric because the front stitches in the quilting pattern don't go all the way to the back but there are some other black threaded stitches that do. It's all handsewn and has the sweetest little heart in a corner as you see in the pics with the name"GRAEBER" wrote on it by the heart in old brown faded ink. Not sure if that is the baby's name that this was made for or the family name but I live way out ... morein the country where the Amish are my neighbors and that last name is on many mailboxes on my road. This is worn and is OLD for sure and even with the back replaced on it in plain and simple black cotton fabric I don't feel it hurts the value of this gorgeous early plain& simple treasure. There is no batting inside which is typical of a summer quilt since on hot days they have no electricity for air so they are frugal and don't use items they don't need as you know so adding batting inside might be considered a luxury and they don't splurge for those often even today so back when this sweet little thing was made I'm sure cotton batting was only used as a necessity and they also had alot of wool blankets for winter bedding so I assume this has always been a summer quilt. I found it in Lancaster County. PA one day at a sale where I bought lots of great antique Amish earlies and this one is no exception. Not perfect and not even close but PRIM perfect for us prim collectors and it looks SO sweet in an antique cradle or on a table top for a cover. The faded blues and blacks are fabulous and even with the wear it still holds many years left of smiles when you

THIS IS A FABULOUS EARLY WALNUT DYED HOMESPUN WHOLE CLOTH QUILT WITH THE SAME GREAT FABRIC ON BOTH SIDES. VERY EARLY STRIPED BROWN WITH SOME OLD BROWN CALICO UNDERNEATH. CHECK OUT THE PICS FOR MORE INFO AND DETAILS. THIS IS NOT PERFECT OBVIOUSLY AS IT IS VERY OLD AND UNIQUE. SOME HOLES THAT CAN BE EASILY REPAIRED BUT I LEFT THEM SO YOU CAN SEE THE OLD BROWN 1800'S CALICO UNDERNEATH. NOT SURE WHAT THE WHOLE INSIDE LOOKS LIKE AS I NEVER TOOK IT APART TO FIND OUT BECAUSE I LOVED IT JUST AS IT IS SINCE IT'S VERY PRIM AND ALL ORIGINAL. PRIM WONDERFUL IF YOU LOVE THE BEST OLD PRIMITIVE FABRICS LIKE I DO. IT HAS SOME EARLY SPOTS AND STAINS AS EXPECTED WITH AN EARLY TEXTILE OF THIS AGE BUT IT ONLY ENHANCES THE LOOK AND VALUE OF SUCH AN EARLY TEXTILE. THIS MEASURES ABOUT 65 X 75. LOOKS WONDERFUL ON AN EARLY ROPE BED OR OTHER DISPLAY. THIS ... moreWOULD ALSO BE WONDERFUL FOR MANY PROJECTS LIKE MAKE DO CHAIRS OR DOLLS. YOU COULD PROBABLY MAKE AT LEAST 20 DOLLS OR DRESS OUT OF THIS AND THE MEASUREMENTS ARE ONLY ONE SIDE SO DOUBLE THEM AND SEE HOW MUCH GORGEOUS OLD BROWN STRIPED HOMESPUN YOU WILL HAVE TO WORK WITH. I NEVER HAD THE HEART TO CUT IT UP TO MAKE DOLLS AS I HAD PLANNED BECAUSE I LOVED IT ON AN OLD HIRED MANS BED WE USED TO HAVE ON A SLEEPING PORCH AT OUR OLD FARMHOUSE YEARS AGO. IT'S TIED WITH VERY EARLY STRING AND THIS WILL COME APART EASILY IF YOU TAKE THEM OFF. AGAIN I COULD NEVER TAKE IT APART BECAUSE IT WAS GREAT FOR WINTER AND THERE IS SOME VERY THICK EARLY COTTON SEED BATTING INSIDE. FABULOUS EARLY STUFF AND A GREAT CABIN FIND FOR YOUR COLLECTION. IT CAME FROM A KENTUCKY CABIN SALE I WENT TO YEARS AGO WHEN MY SON WAS VERY YOUNG. I LOVE EARLY BLUES AND BROWNS BUT AM TRYING TO SIMPLIFY A BIT AND I SOLD THE OLD BED I HAD IT ON TO A FRIEND BUT KEPT THE TEXTILES. YOU CAN FIND OTHERS IN MY CURRENT LISTINGS BUT THIS ONE IS A FAVORITE OF MINE BECAUSE IT IS SO SIMPLE YET SO RARE TO FIND WITH THE EARLY WALNUT DYE. MUCH BETTER IN PERSON THAN MY PICS SHOW. 1800s antique WOOD SLED aafa PAINTED HORSE FOLK ART primitive METAL RUNNERS
1800s antique WOOD SLED aafa PAINTED HORSE FOLK ART primitive METAL RUNNERS. This listing is for the wood sled shown. It's a nice large size with the runners measuring approx 49" long. The sled measures approx 11.5" wide. It is an old piece. There are some repairs that were made several years after the original piece. Their is a date of 1830 scratched into this. But we think that is just a bogus# scratched later. This is undated. But there are parts that look certainly from the 1800s, and then some repairs in the 1900s. We are only taking educated guesses here. Please see photos and feel free to help us with your expertise. The old metal seems original and the old wood base too. Maybe the seat was a repair or replacement. But certainly could be late 1800s or early 1900s. Then someone used that bright orange/yellow glue as you ... morecan see. I can't mention spefically all the repairs. But these seem to be the major ones. Expect wear from such an early piece. The piece is quite sturdy despite the repairs and displays well. We will ship this either USPS or FEDEX at our discretion. Shipping costs will be the same for you. This is a large. Solid, expensive piece to ship.
