From a Connecticut collection. And up for sale without reserve is a group of 29 vintage handmade china lined marbles. There are eleven 1/2 inch and eighteen 5/8 inch. All but two are unglazed, and the two that are glazed can be seen in the last photo. The lines are in a variety of colors: magenta, blue, orange, purple, green, black and pink. Maryland Antique Working Duck Decoy AAFA
This great decoy. According to the dealer from whom I purchased it, originates in Maryland. It measures 14" long. The body has old gray original paint; the tail, breast and spout are black; the neck is reddish brown. It is weighted on the bottom, as shown, and the decoy body is carved from a heavy piece of wood. Original brownish red paint and bentwood handle. With the darkening from age. Not sure if this original paint has a red tint or not. Sometimes it looks like it does, and them sometimes I think it's just a shade of brown. It is a nice country, primitive americana earty color. It measures approx 13.25 x 8 3/8" x 6.5" high. Not including handle. You can see that a top inch or so of wood is missing on one side. Unfortunately or perhaps fortunately. Antique 19th Century Miniature Doll Table Original Paint Stenciling AAFA
This is a very rare doll's table because it has the original paint. The original finish, the original stenciling(on the legs) and it is handmade. Note the great notched edges on the apron of the table. The top measures 6.75 inches by 6.5 inches. The height is 6.25 inches. You can see the'checkered' finish on it. Each foot of the legs is painted. There is some writing on the inside- so the person used the wood he had on hand. There is some age-related wear on the corners and a tiny nick in one of the legs(about the size of a pin head) and on the top there is a lighter spot- about the size of an eraser head. Nothing detracts from this table's'sense of presence' The color of the painted edging and stenciling is a dark cream and the color of the other finish is a rich brown. This is a wonderful ANTIQUE 1800'S CHILD'S HANDLED CUP WITH ORIGINAL STENCIL AND BLACK PAINT. On the front of the cup is stenciled"MY BOY" The tin cup which is 2 3/4" in diameter and 2" tall is in excellent condition without any bends or dents that I can see. The paint however has been chipped but I can just imagine a toddler drinking milk out of this cup and banging it on the table and asking for more. It was hard to photograph the stenciling because of the curve of the cup. Sorry. I love the seams and the way the opening rim has been turned over to the outside. Offered today is AN AUTHENTIC Antique 19th century SHAKER Pail/Bucket with swing handle and Diamond bail plates. And retaining its Original paint history of yellow over original Blue paint. Previous owner at some point"cleaned one stave of its 19th c. darkened varnish to reveal its original paint history of yellow over the original blue paint. The yellow paint is preserved under an old darkened varnish the flakes off. I have not attempted to remove the"varnish" from the rest of the pail, leaving that to the new owner if they so desire. Heavy gauge wire bail handle with turned maple hand hold. Heavy gauge metal"diamond" bale plates secure handle to sides of pail. Original metal bands surround ... morethe body, and end in"V-clipped" ends. Copper rivets secure the diamond bail plates to the body of the pail. Tongue and groove staved construction. Dating mid 19th century, ca; 1840-60 and probably of New Lebanon,NY community manufacture. Fresh from a longtime collection put together 40 years ago just a few miles down the road from Mt Lebanon, and guaranteed right as rain. Clean inside with age appropriate wear and patination. Condition is wonderful! used but not abused! You will look long and hard for a better example in this fine condition! Just Gorgeous and a wonderful example of Shaker craftsmanship! The Shaker Museum at Old Chatham, NY has a wonderful collection of related coopered pails in its collection. Other reference upon request, just ask. Size: 11-5/8" diameter x 8-7/8" high. Antique Primitive 19th C Carved Wooden Country Berry Scoop Treenware AAFA
10 1/4" Long x 6 1/8" Wide 2" Deep A charming example of an old wooden cranberry or berry scoop. Purchased in upstate NY. When cranberry bogs were flooded in the areas of New England producing the cranberries. Scoops like these were used to rack in the floating fruit with water and small twigs and such being sifted out through the tines of the piece. The user would have grabbed the back end of the box form to lift the scoop through bog water, then depositing the fruit in a pack basket or crate. Similar process for other berries. All handmade. The piece likely dates from the middle of the 19th century, circa 1830-50. Up for bid is the seldom seen Small Size ANTIQUE AMERICAN FOLK ART Wooden KNIFE BOX/ UTENSIL TRAY/ UTILITY TOTE/ CADDY with Slanted Sidewalls& a Handled Center Divider(creating two equal spaces within) circa the early to mid 19th century. As seen in the pictures/ as described in the title. Excellent condition with with NO major defects whatsoever. Two small holes thru base(one at each space. See 7th pic) Previous owner(s) have/has reinforced each corner& both ends of the center'handle plank' with(a total of) 6 flathead screws. Also. At the bottom are(10) more flathead screws(equally& symetrically spaces/placed(see pics) These look to have more age to the metal and are of a smaller size& have a flat-top style(as opposed to the dome style of the other screws. See pics) Needless to say. This piece is structurally strong ... moreand incredibly sturdy. Naturally, I would have prefered there to be no screws.but we don't always get exactly what we want, right? They could be easily removed but filling& matching the finish would prove more difficult. I leave this decision to you. Picked from a 18th century barn/shed on a Warren County, N.J. farm country) estate sale. When found. It was filthy! I VERY LIGHTLY cleaned with warm water only(no soap) I did NOT scrub but rather. Simply rinsed off the loose gunk, grime and critters and let air dry in the sun. Extremely minimal(if any) affect to the outstandingly rich patina throughout(and now. Clean to the touch: Made of a light(er)weight/ medium density variety of wood(best guess is poplar.I may be way off) and originally had nailed(only) corner construction. Cosmetic condtion is as clearly& accurately shown in the high-definition pictures provided. Please inspect all of them carefully. Measures 11-3/4" wide x 7-5/8" deep x 3" tall(at largest points) Sidewalls are 2" tall. Base is 11-1/16" wide x 7" deep and is made of one 1/8" thick plank. AAFA- This is a great small well executed yellow ware jelly crock. Made about 1900 in Pennsylvania. The bottom has a clam shell design and is usually attributed to the Mid-Atlantic region. This crock is 3 5/8 inches high. A base diameter of 2 1/8 inches and the top is 2 7/8 inches in diameter. It is in nice condition and has a great surface/patina. Some minute glaze wear on very top of rim. There are also two or three pin head glaze pops in the body. There are two small tight lines on rim. Color is a light color. Now it has the look and feel of the two toned Jaquard woven coverlets circa the 1850s, with vivid colors of deep indigo and dark red. Thus I believe it dates to that period. It could have been used below one of their tables or as a tapestry. I could find only one other complete coverlet with some symbols and that was in pale yellow and red. This Odd Fellows piece was supposedly from an Ohio lodge and obviously is of historical significance. Symbols include a skull, anchor, birds, crossed hands, phrases as:Protect the Orphans' Relieve ... morethe Distressed' Bury the Sick,Faith, Hope and Charity' and various Latin phrases. The 2 linen gowns are newly made from new linen fabrics! The cotton long-sleeve sleep shirt and the child's short-sleeve sleep johns are old. The long sleeve white linen gown has the initials"MB" cross-stitched in red on the tie-front. Button closures are on each long sleeve. Then detailed by white lace that that covers the material end to end. The gown is heavy and thick. It measures 38.5"L x 34"W(at the widest point) and the sleeves are each 19"l long. Very good condition. I saw no holes/stains. The cap-sleeve linen gown is a dark shade due to tea staining the fabric. The half inch wide neck line has" Margareth Engelhardf" cross-stitched in red. The gown has a three button front closure that's 14" in length. The gown measures 36"L x 27.5"W and the sleeve capped end open by 10" ... morein length. Very good condition. I saw no holes or stains. The back side does have some stains but I believe them to be pre-existing on the fabric before the gowns constriction took place. The red long sleeve cotton night/john shirt is thick ribbed cotton and has a three button front closure. This top measures 23"L x 13"W(when laid flat) Each sleeve is 15"L. It was either a child's or a small adult. Very good condition. Can tell the material was worn though. There's snail areas of piling as to be expected with the age and use of this garment. The child's short sleeve red johns has a tag sewn into the neckline"Morwich Underwear" is the brand. The top left shoulder does have one hole. It's pin sized& only noticeable when looked for. She has a very early real good look. Fit right in with a true antique rag doll! an early fabric dress made by from an old skirt that was just gone! it is in cream and browns and has serious wear but clean and looks as though she was made a long long ago, like a true antique through and through! Her bonnet is from vintage tobacco color fabric I got some time ago. And stuffed with rags and has the mitten hands with the stitched fingers. She measures about 15 inches long and a pencil drawn face. I don't make mis-shapen dolls and really ruff dolls because when I collected them they were all early, nice and dressed as they should be not in rags but that is what I like so that is what I make, can't make the other ones, not what I want to live with. Love this early canted sided pine blue tray. With beautiful center curved handle. It has old nails and unpainted bottom, nice wood striations show through the very unevenly worn blue paint. Meet Miss Sadie! She's old and wonderful and bumpy and floppy and heavy from her old rag stuffing! Check out all the pics for more info. She's made from an early feedsack with great colors. Handsewn body with old black thread repairs. You can see the old calico inside of her in some of the worn spots. I don't know how old she truly is but I have owned her for over 20 years and she was old when I bought her. She is handmade the old fashioned way when farm wives made do for their kids and didn't run to the store to buy new stuff. They used what they had on hand to make toys for their babies. She might be one of those but I'm just not sure so I am listing her as a primitive rag doll made from an antique feed sack and stuffed with antique fabrics as you can see that is for sure in many spots where she has some wear. She is both treadle and hand sewn and so are her sweet blue flannel antique calico clothes. Her shoes fit her just prim perfect and they look to be original too. Her antique straw hat is fabulous. She keeps it on with 2 unique hat pins. It has an old ribbon from gauze on top and is lined with early gauze too. This is one of her Barn Finds and she was sooo excited! You will receive 1 Ornate Lamp in The Photos. This looks awesome doesn't it? The color is beautiful! The color of the Glass Stands out. The color Panels are Blue and Orange with Round Red Circles in the Center of Each Panel. The Glass is not broken. Chipped nor cracked or missing! The Iron has some rust.mainly at the bottom. Very Ornate! We think it is Iron. The Black paint is worn off in alot of areas. The bottom section is welded or what ever.has 2 areas that aren't connected but doesn't look like they ever were so that may be normal. It comes with a chain that I forgot to measure! It does come with a cord but the plug ... morehas been removed for what ever reason. This needs cleaning. I wiped it down for the owner but you will need to clean it to your specifications. The top.at the top of the Ornate Iron is a Tulip. The wire and chain comes up from there. I may tape the glass panels or remove them for shipping if I can I'll box them in the box. This is Gourgeous! Large Stack of Old Firkin s-AAFA-Old Paint-Sugar Bucket s-Wooden Firkins
I am offering for sale 4 wonderful old firkins or sugar buckets. The buckets are old and the paint is old. I have left them like I found them with the old paint. The stack measures 43 7/8" tall. The largest firkin is a gray paint with a greenish cast. It is huge. And measures 14 1/4" tall(excluding handle) 14 5/8" across the top, and 15 1/4" across the bottom. This firkin is missing the handle. The rim around the lid is damaged and has been tacked back on in various spots. The next firkin has a blue, green paint and measures 12" tall(excluding handle) 12" across the top, and 12 3/4" across the bottom. The next firkin is a beauty with faded, painted flowers. It measures 9 3/4" tall(excluding the handle) 9 5/8" across the top, and 10 1/4" across the bottom. The top firkin has faded, red paint. ... moreThere is some black lettering on the back that I cannot read. It has a wire handle and metal bands. The lid is a"make-do" old piece of wood. It measures 7 3/4" tall, 7 3/4" across the lid, and 8 7/8" across the bottom. All 4 are in good solid condition with no loose bands. This is a great looking stack ready to display!
