This little shelf is from the early 1900's-was probably in someone's old farmhouse-it measures 17 3/4" high X 10 1/2" wide X 4" deep. It was originally white. Then green, then blue, now mauve! You can see all the layers of color in places-mauve-think very thick pan-cake make up or a pale DUSTY rose color! ALL of the paint is CHIPPY& CRACKLED! Some places have big chips. It has a single nail-hole at the top for hanging, or it could be set on a flat surface; also, the back is blue& chippy& with some dents. Early Overshot Red and Blue Coverlet w/ fringe, some wear. AAFA
ALCOTT ANTIQUES* EARLY AMERICAN ANTIQUE OVERSHOT COVERLET IN RED WHITE AND BLUE. Measures 97"W x 69"H as shown. It is shown with the head board end at the right. Overshot coverlets are some of the earliest of the American woven bed covers. They are recognizable due to the wool wefts skipping 3 or more of the warp threads. The weft threads of this example are the more uncommon two color red and indigo blue wool and the warp i believe is linen. See photos. It dates to the early 1800's. This example has wool fringe sewn around 3 sides and the fringe is in very good condition. The coverlet body has two main areas of wear. One is an area with several tears. Shown in 6th photo as a close up. The other area is a mended worn area near the right middle as it is hung, see 7th photo. No stains and no bad odors. Honest Early 19th C. hand forged Iron Hearth Trivet ! C.1830 Iron Trivet. AAFA
Authentic 19th Century or earlier Iron Hearth Trivet or Grill! So many of these seen on the market today are Fake! No wear to the Iron. No heat exposure to the Iron, just acid applied to look ancient. This one has all of the attributes of a good early one. Feet worn smooth, and note the heat damage on the bottom side in photo#4! 175 YR OLD EARLY ANTIQUE 18X19 SAMPLER DATED 1838 ~ HOUSE, ANIMALS, LADY AAFA
Here is a sweet and truly impressive embroidered sampler. It looks like it was done with silk thread on an open weave linen. It is signed in the needlework"Elizabeth Currin s Work- Aged 17 years- Wrought at Laxey Glen school septembher 11 1838" The designs include a delicate flowering vine border. A 4 line verse, baskets of flowers and a picture of a home and grounds, which are packed with many animals. There is a shepherd woman with a dog, sheep, deer, birds and peacocks~! There are some other mystery animals as well. And please find the tree with a bird stitched right in the middle of it. Elizabeth did not finish her sampler(notice how the green grass is not stitched in the pasture to the left of the walk) For whatever reason. She completed the animals but did not fill in the grass. This only adds to the folksiness of this 175 ... moreyear old early piece. The colors are mostly dark green. Brown, off white and hints of light blue, yellow, and pink. The sampler is framed with glass. Which is not of the same period of the sampler, but age appropriate looking. This sampler is in very good condition. With some light staining and wear. The only holes I can find are on the very edge, upper right side, as pictured. Also, there is a bit of dirt under the word"drowsy" in the verse. The frame is very solid, and has some light rubs on the corners. Framed size is 19x18.5x7/8 inches. The sampler itself is 16 3/8 x 15 7/8 inches. I describe each item to the best of my knowledge. I suspect it is copper as a magnetic strip does not stick to the horse, just the support stick and directionals. The horse– or essence of a horse headed south“ the only direction that matters this time of year! measures approximately 14.5” tall from table by approximately 11” from nose to tip of right hoof. I think the tail may have always been“bobbed” But I can’t say for sure. Letters and front hoof tip are missing, but still a very strong classic presentation. Up for Auction is a sweet little Step stool Bench It Has The Original Alligator Paint It was constructed with out the use of nails it is held together by Mortises and tendons this type of bench was made by the Uncle Levi who was German Dutch it does come from Pennsylvania from my own ancestors this is well over 150 years old It has never been cleaned I left it just as it was found over 30 years ago in the milking shed. Its size is as follows: top is 16 inch long by 8 and 1/2 deep and the height is 9 inches total from top board to floor. Like I said its a Little Darling Step Bench. Antique Advertising Pink Vintage Old Circus Carnival Banner Stage Side Show AAFA
A one of a kind find. Measures 8'X 22' Item is not signed that I can detect. Made of heavy duty waterproof canvas. Back of banner is pretty clean. Victorian Circus advertising curtain banner. This piece was probably part of an advertising curtain/banner either under a circus big top arena or within a stage show production. It has been mainly inside its entire life due to it's condition. And unlike some of the other circus banners that are out there, is has remarkable showman ship. I purchased this from an auction house 10 years ago. The story goes(because I asked them) that the auction house had purchased it from a man who lived on a farm near Mt. Rainier, which is in Washington state. This is close to where I live. This rare piece has 10 advertising squares. Ranging from"Hair Tonic" to"Manly Boys' Suits" ... moreExquisite detail at every turn: The birds in the connecting circles down to the small background swirls within the advertising squares. The Art Nouveau hat to the far left to the different plants and flowers depicted. I took one close-up photo of a flower, last photo, where you can see the age of this item. The paint loss on opposite ends are from years of being folded. This piece is in great shape for it's age. As stated, there is some minimal paint loss, as you can see by the photos. I am unsure as to the age of this item. It is Victorian style artwork for sure. This banner is definitely vintage. My best guess being an antique dealer is that it was created between the 1910's-1940's. If anyone proficient in this type of art knows anything about this, please email me and let me know. That would be much appreciated. I have had this hung on my wall for the past 10 years. I triple-folded it and hung it on a 96" long curtain rod with 25 curtain clips. 19th c. Toleware Domed & Stencil Decorated Document Box, AAFA, N.R.
Found in New England and up for sale without reserve. Is this great looking domed top, 19th century toleware document box. It is in very solid condition with working hinges and a small wire ring at the top. All sides and the top are painted the original black. There is gold stenciling on the front depicting leaves, flowers and a bird. There is also a decorative border on the top also in gold. The paint is still excellent with very little chipping and only age appropriate wear on the inside. There are some shallow dents on the top, but nothing that keeps the top from closing. Antique 18thC WROUGHT IRON HEART RACK HEARTH AAFA Folk Art Primitive
Description PLEASE"LIKE" FACEBOOK.COM/CYBERTRUNK Nice 18th/19th Century New England. Wrought Iron hanger for the hearth. Came from the private collection of a Vermont country Inn. Hooks are sharp so may have served as a rack for meat as well. The Inn hung utensils from it(not included) for display as seen in the photos. The pointed end of the right side is damaged(see left side for comparison) and the tip of one of the hooks is bent(see pic 11) Great condition considering age& use, surface is original and a bit rusted.
