Antique SAD IRON Cast 6.6 lbs Strap Handle MOROCCO/Leather FINISH Heavy AAFA NR Antique. Cast iron, Flat Sad Iron that is very heavy, 6 1/2 pounds that has a very rustic look. Top side of base appears to be pitting but is actually the so-called"leather" or"morocco" finish seen on a number of 19th century cast iron products, such as fancy muffin pans. This finish is further demonstrated by the handle, which shows the hammered pattern especially near the middle at base. The top portion is smoother where it has been pounded out and handled. The bottom is smooth for ironing. Has been painted and varnished. Handle is firmly attached. Definitely has a primitive look! This iron is from my mother's vast collection which I will be listing over the next several weeks. It weighs just 4 1/2 pounds and has a"cool grip" handle that meant it could be heated on the stove without the handle becoming too hot to pick up. However a hot pad was probably kept close at hand. The round grip has a cross-checkered pattern and is classified not as a round grip but as a Cylinder Grip because the grip was made by casting it around an iron wire or rod. The top side has the leather or Moroccan finish and the sole plate is. Of coarse, a flat finish. Sole plate measures 5 1/2" from tip to back. Has a manufacturers logo but I cannot make it out. Please note that the squarish shadow on her face is from the lighting and not on the acutal painting. Stunning antique hand painted"Gibson" or"Victorian" girl style portrait/picture with artist initinals"CM" The frame is antique brass with ball feet and back loop hanger. The folding or easel style stand is not attached and has been gone along time. I have custom made a antique fork in to a stand and the picture displays very nice this way. The glass is convex bubble style and has a small chip in it(it was impossible to capture a photo of this and is located on the edge with is mostly covered by the frame) The chip does not distract in my opinoin. Colors are vibriant and crisp. Just purchased from an estate in Lancaster Co Pa is this soft blue quilt.when hanging it is stricking. I am told the pattern is called a Bowtie Version. It is backed using old sugar sacks and I would say it is around 1910's. It measures about 72" x 72"in very good condition but has a few rust spots.it was packed away in a closet for years. It is all hand stitched and patches are made from old work shirts.

This little charmer looks very much like those that came out of the Paris, Maine company, but this is not stamped or signed anywhere to verify that. As mentioned, the paint is worn, most of the original square nails remain but some nails are replacements. A support bar that was attached to both legs is long gone and there are several small splits in the wood in the bottom of the wheelbarrow that originate where nails were driven in. It is 34" in length, 14" at its widest between the two handle bars and it is only 9 1/2" high. Antique Turned Wooden Dough Bowl Extra Large Rare Size 17.5" AAFA 1800's Deep!
When I went through the boarded up farm house I ventured up into the attic. Yes I am brave! The first thing I saw when I reached the top was this absolutely Huge wooden dough bowl. I have never see another like it. All I did was wipe it out a bit but you will have to clean it. You are bidding on an antique turned dough bowl in its original color and form. Very strong turning marks on the exterior and interior of the bowl. The rim is 3/4 inches. The bowl is out of round and measures 17.5 inches across the top. There is a crack in the bowl and it looks like someone tried to repair it with some small nails. Also there appears to be some softening in the wood around one of the dark circles on the outside of the bowl. I'm assuming it was put on something and it stained and softened the wood and caused it to crack and break around the stain. ... moreThe bowl crack is approx 8 inches. Not many of these extra large bowls made it. This is an amazing bowl and it is truly a primitive find. Please watch for the other vintage bowls I will be listing over the next couple of days. FABULOUS ANTIQUE LATE 18th C SOUTHERN MAHAGONY INLAID DRESSING MIRROR AAFA
For your consideration is a SUPER and RARE! Dressing Mirrow with inlaid Drawer most likely from Charleston SC or another low country location. Possibly VA. I believe it is Charleston because backboard I believe is Cypress interior Yellow Pine with Mahagony Veneer with Fruitwood banding and inlay. Oval inlay is similar other late 18th C Charleston card tables and case pieces with Fruitwood inlay. Simple Queen Anne feet were used late into the 18th C on Low Country region including Charleston and Eastern VA furniture and accessories. Very good condition, the mirror is replaced and there is some banding inlay that needs to be glued. Pieces will be secured and the new owner may glue back if they wish to. Feet are original, I believe hardware is original as well. Great patina. I bought this from a local Portland Oregon dealer and it was consigned ... moreto him by a local family with family history in the Carolina's. I love this piece and I know you will as well. Very unusal antique Brass Skater's Lantern! What I find rare is that this little Skater's Lantern has a Brass swing Handle as well as a Finger hold on the Tank! The fuel Tank is also larger then on most Skater's Lanterns as shown. It appears to be original in every way and I am assuming it could be carried as a Skater's or Outhouse Lantern and or also used inside the Home. Glass Globe is also original with no cracks. A Wick and some Kerosene and it is ready to burn! No damage. No repairs and measures 8" tall with Handle down and the bottom is 4" in diameter. We believe this came from a horse farm. The horse has been in the weather for many years as indicated by the rusted tin. We put the 2 halves back together and mounted it on a 100+ year old piece of Walnut board which had square nails in it. This is an absolute great surviving piece of folk art. Wool and nylon fabric strips and the border is a thin wool. Condition is very good except for several of the border tabs as shown. The rug appears to have been packed away or not used on the floor and is still somewhat stiff. The border is made of thin wool fabric with embroidered edges, wear as shown. This is a very interesting piece.it's a primitive wooden candle holder from the early to mid 1900's hand carved out of wormwood-marine I think. Such as the old pilings used in harbors, etc. The wood is very heavy and with LOTS of detail; it looks like a layer of varnish was applied to give it a shine. There is a piece of green felt on the bottom. Please look at all of my pics carefully as this is a very primitive item with lots of wood CRACKS-allover-and some leftover WAX from candles! This candle holder was made for large, wide candles; measurements are: 4 3/4" tall X 4 7/8" diameter; the inside, top part will hold a candle 4 1/4" diameter or smaller. Rare Antique 19th. Century George Washington Engraving Adam B.Walker Peale AAFA
Hi. I'm offering this rare. Antique steel engraving of the George Washington by Adam B.Walker. It was created in Philadelphia in 1865 after the"porthole portrait" by Rembrandt Peale. The engraving is in a frame of the same period with wonderful antique glass. The backboard is excellent. I have placed a sheet of acid free paper between the engraving and the backboard. The image has been trimmed to plate. There is a blemish on the face of Zeus and there are two professionally repaired tears in the upper right corner. Alt hough this engraving has these condition issues it's still a rare and important item. The old Print shop of Philadelphia has a later. Second version(1870) in"good condition" for $3.250.00. The engraving(including frame) measures 21 1/2" x 17 1/2" The photos were a bit of a challenge. Most ... moreof them were shot outside because I wanted to capture the true color of the engraving. T he dusty appearance is the result of reflections from the outside environment.The engraving is much more dramatic and rich than it appears in the photographs. Up for auction is this frame that holds 4 antique. Original EASTER GREETINGS post cards depicting children at play. These cards are from the 1800's and yet in very good condition. My camera did not get them clear enough, but they are very clear and clean and the pictures are beautiful and bright. Cards are yellowed with age, but that helps to tell true age of the cards. 18 3/4" long x 7 3/4" wide. The picture frame is in"as found" condition with the frame being loose at the top left side. Would need a little nail to hold in place. The glass has a tiny chip at that top left corner. This does not detract from the sweetness of these cards.
