Antique Rockford Winged Griffin Dining Set
This dinning set featuring charming carved wing griffins was purchased by my uncle frank at an estate sale in Lenox Ma in the 1950's.Label reads Cooperative Furniture Rockford Ill.The dinning set consist of 1 small buffet measuring 21 inches wide by 49 1/2 long and 34 1/2 tall.The table measures 48 by 70 and 30 inches tall.2 leaves extend the table by two feet.The 6 chairs are 40 inches tall.5 armless and 1 captains chair.The large buffet 24 inches wide by 78 inches long and 38 inches tall. Table base features full standing winged-griffins with sheilded chests and wrapped tails on a pedestal base. The top has a carved racetrack edge and four 24" leaves. Fully skirted on all four of the leaves. Cabinets display barley twists carved from a solid piece of wood. Sideboard has two standing griffins. The chairs in this set have a band of intricate carving surrounds the entire back. The arched top frames a pair of winged griffins. Table is square without leaves installed. I believe it is 54” sq. It has no damage other than natural sun lightening over the years. All the legs are solid and firm with no wiggles or jiggles. It could use refinishing to make all the leaves match the top and the carved Griffin leg sections are darker than the top as they saw less of the sun’s rays over the years. I am pricing this extraordinary table way under what similar tables are priced at here on ebay. It is priced to sell! Shipping will be offered at your expense and by the carrier of your choosing.
