I believe this is a mahogany dropleaf table from the Empire period(circa ... more1860) Measures 29" high by 40" long. There is a leaf that hangs on each side each measuring 15 1/4" Each leaf is held up by a wooden swing arm that folds out from the center of the table. Table is on a 20 x 22" pedestal base with metal wheels. When leaves are closed. The top measures 40" x 22 1/4" actually 23 3/4" with the edges of the leaves) or 40" x 52 3/4" when open. The table is in excellent condition with only a small chip on the base near the floor and a small crack underneath the bottom of the pedestal base. ANTIQUE FLAME MAHOGANY DISPLAY CABINET 383.550. EMPIRE STYLE WITH CURVED GLASS WITH KEY. 65"H X 50.5"W X 17"D. The flame pattern in mahogany appears in solids and veneers. Veneers became popular in the late 17th and early 18th centuries as an economical way to adorn furniture with rare and expensive woods. Thin layers of individual wood patterns are cut and glued to a less expensive core. The first veneers were hand cut and fairly thick. Up to 1/8 inch. Later, skilled woodworkers learned to cut paper-thin veneers in a variety of ways to achieve artistic patterns with which to decorate furniture surfaces. Flame veneers are especially beautiful when the figure is repeated for a rich effect. antique heavily carved mahogany empire dining table 54 inch split pedestal 3 bds
for auction is one of the finest empire mahogany dining tables i have owned in this price range. i have had horner and others that were in excess of 10-14.000, but none any better built or better quality. this is a great 54 inch split pedestal table with a great turned center leg suppot. it has three 14 inch leaves which have the same grain, color, and patina as the top. leaves installed makes this an eight foot table. if the leaf runner stops were removed, i expect it would open to 12 feet. the table is presented in original finish, there is some crazing to the finish but i would never refinish it. the table is solid mahogany with no veneers, has great grain and a fantastic pedestal which is heavily carved and contoured. the feet are massive claw feet which are carved all the way up the knee to the pedestal. i sold this table to a fella ... moremaybe 3 or 4 years ago and he needed some money, so i have him his money back. with shipping charges i have almost as much in the table as i am starting it for. i am taking it apart to put in storage as i have no room in my house for it. i have like 3o pictures so if you want to see anything else hopefully i have a picture of it, if not i can get one. the table may be picked up at my home or shipped at buyer's expense. good luck. i just spent several hours cleaning the dirt and grim out of the carvings etc. i used new life and liquid gold, so if it looks a bit shinny here and there i probably didn't get all the cleaner wiped away. any spots or usual looking objects in any of the pictures if from a dirty camera. i can't seem to get some of the junk off the lens.

Antique Empire Drop Leaf Dining Room Table 1800's
You are bidding on a beautiful antique dining room table from the mid-late 1800's. I believe this is a mahogany dropleaf table from the Empire period(circa 1860) Measures 29" high by 40" long. There is a leaf that hangs on each side each measuring 15 1/4" Each leaf is held up by a wooden swing arm that folds out from the center of the table. Table is on a 20 x 22" pedestal base with metal wheels. When leaves are closed. The top measures 40" x 22 1/4" actually 23 3/4" with the edges of the leaves) or 40" x 52 3/4" when open. The table is in excellent condition with only a small chip on the base near the floor and a small crack underneath the bottom of the pedestal base. It has a split pedestal base that is carved and has claw feet. The large sideboard measures 40 1/4 inches tall x 47 inches tall to the top of the backsplash. It is 24 3/4 inches deep x 72 inches across. The backsplash has a veneer piece missing and some veneer wrinkles. The server measures 36 inches tall and is 40 inches tall to the top of the backsplash. It measures 19 deep x 40 across. The china closet measures 65 3/4 inches tall x 45 inches wide x 20 inches deep. It has 4 wooden shelves. A straight cut top blends into the rolled front silverware and napkin drawers, curved front linen drawer, and bottom doors that conceal your finest china. The beautifully rolled legs go all the way down the sides for a majestic appearance. Brass knobs match brass key holes on all three drawers that lock away your special things for just the right occasion. One key fits all three drawers and it IS included. That's right, we DO have the original Eagle Lock Co. key! The silverware drawer ... moreis divided into three sections and is lined with the original green velvet. The napkin and linen drawers are not lined. The linen drawers offers tons of space so you can be sure all of your treasured tablecloths will fit. Two doors open on the bottom to reveal a large storage space that is more than adequate for your finest china. Offered here are the remaining 5 chairs from a large set of antique American Empire dining chairs. The chairs retain their original Roman numeral markings on the front inside of the seat support. This was a large and elegant set of chairs. Made, possibly in New York state, ca. 1830- 1850. These chairs are strong, sturdy and are ready to use. They measure 32" high. The seats are 18" high. Each seat measures 14" deep by 18" wide across the front. Each slip seat has been upholstered with needlepoint, which I would guess to be from the 1950s. The needlepoint background is a medium mocha or beige color, while the floral center motifs are each a different, but coordinating pattern of flowers. These seats are in very good antique condition showing no stains or rips. The finish on the chairs is OLD, but smooth and silky feeling. ... moreThere is one repair which I noticed, which is a repair to the moulding which secures the slip seat across the front of one chair. It comes with two long drop leaves that are 16 inches long and all original condition. It is truly a period table from the 1860s. The table when it is closed up is 40 inches long. 22 inches deep and 29.5 inches high. When you take the two 16 inches leaves up and flip them up in place it becomes 52 inches deep and 40 inches long. The finish on the table is original believe it or not and shows minor ring marks here and there from plant pots. On the empire diamond column traditional jelly roll footed base with the ogee molded edges on both ends. It has solid mahogany leaves. One side is unbelievably straight given the age and the other side has the typical bow or curl to it where it is warped slightly on the leaf and is very useable. When it is flipped down you will not see it and that is how most people use this type of table. It is in the old original finish and has never had any refinishing done on it. The finish is amazing for the age. There are edge marks of veneer missing that we will touch up. It will cost $285 to have this drop leaf table shipped within our normal shipping zone. In the pics you may notice that the center leg is not in the center of the table. It will move to the center. I didn't want to force it across the uneven ground. The top may look unlevel it's only the ground. I couldn't get good pics inside. The table it very solid and level when on a good surface The condition is very good. I see no damage to the table or chairs other than the finish issue to the leaf. This table measures 48" round. It is 28" tall. The chairs are 42 1/2" tall x 19" wide x 19" deep. This is such an easy set to move around. The top come off and the base will fit through any door. You can transport this in an SUV.
