The beveled edge marble top is original to the piece and has the marble candle stands intact. Marble is in wonderful antique condition with no chips or cracks. Victorian Walnut Marble Top Washstand circa 1870's
I am pleased to offer for sale a Solid Walnut Victorian Marble Top Washstand circa 1870's. This one drawer over two door washstand features tear drop pulls on raised burl walnut panels and a beautifully carved center key escutcheon. The inset panels of the doors also offer raised burl panels. On each side of the doors are two narrow vertical panels divided by a small rosette. Inside is a shelf which offers wonderful storage opportunities. The bottom does lock and we do have the key. The drawer lock does no work. The white and grey serpentine shaped marble is in excellent antique condition with no chips or cracks. The back splash is still there but the candle holders are gone. The holes have been covered by rosettes which is shown in the pictures. This piece measures 34 3/4 inches high, 32 inches wide and 17inches deep. The weight is approximately ... more50 lbs. Beautiful carved pulls with dove-tailed joinery on the ends and oval race-track molding on the drawer front. A storage cabinet below arched molding on the recessed panels on the doors. Stunning antique washstand with 3 large drawers. The marble is very unique. It is a gorgeous combination of burgundy, white and grey colors. The marble is pretty thick and very solid with no chips or cracks. There is towel holder that pulls out if the side, you can have it out or push it in. This beautiful piece came from a gorgeous Savannah estate and is a true piece if history. The coasters have been added to the bottom and are new, but you can not see them even though it is convenient to have them in case you want to move the piece. Both pieces are in excellent condition with smooth operating drawers and excellent chip-free. Scratch-free marble tops. There is a slight difference in coloration and grain of the tops. The full image of the dresser shows where the mirror frame separates for shipping purposes, but as shown I do have the medallions that cover the seam. This 19th century washstand measures 39 1/2 inches tall to the top of the marble backsplash.31 inches tall to the top of the marble at the front,33 inches wide and 20 1/2 inches deep and weighs approximately 100 lbs. The marble shelf measures 31 1/2 inches wide by 4 inches deep. The marble top appears to be an old replacement and has no chips or cracks but some slight staining as common with old marble. There is an area ... moreup under the left shelf bracket that has been"colored in" with white perhaps to cover a stain and blends very well and not very noticeable at all in my opinion unless very close inspection. The lock is intact on the doors below but the key provided just aids in opening the doors and doesn't work the lock. On the right side there is a small square opening about 1 inch where there once was a pull out towel rode but its no longer present.
