Mid Century Danish Modern Teak Cantilevered Desk with front Bookcase Lovig
This is an amazing Danish teak desk with a cantilever design. It has three angled drawers and a bookcase in the front. Made of teak with what I believe to be walnut legs. All of the drawers slide easily. As seen in pics# 9 and 10 the desk top has surface scratces. But in my opinion these do not take away from the overall piece. As seen in pic# 11. It is missing two screws, one on either side in the center. This does not seem to affect the stability whatsoever. I just like to be very descriptive. Unfortunately I was unable to find out the designer or manufacturer. It has no markings I could find. This piece reminded me of the Vladimir Kagan"unicorn" chair with its great design. Original Danish Teak Floating Executive Desk Secretary Desk Writing Desk Design
History: This Desk has been in my family since new. My parents lived in Europe from 1948 to 1982. I do not know what year it was made or purchased. The Desk is in great condition. The Desk has been in a smoke free home all the time. General: I have looked for any markings on the piece of furniture that might tell me who designed or made it. But could not find any. Measurements: 58in Width x 29in Depth x 28in Tall The Desk has 3 drawers on the left and 1 drawer on the right which is a file drawer. Condition: The Desk is structurally sound a true testament to the craftsmanship. The exposed teak has never been refinished showing the true durability of this wood. My father had put some stickers on the inside of the file drawer which I have not tried to remove. See the last picture. The file drawer rails on the left side are loose/striped and ... moreneed to be fixed. This still allows the drawer to slide in and out it is just crooked a little. The Desks teak could be refinished to bring back the original shine. I believe that some buyers like the"Originality" of this era's items and some like to have them restored. I will leave that up to the buyer. The left-side of the desk top has some water stains as if a drink had been spilled. Please view the pictures carefully as this piece is being sold AS-IS and there are no returns. Shipping: I will help the buyer in the follow shipping method. It is the responsibility of the buyer to arrange any kind of shipping method he/she would prefer. Vintage SMI Sweden Teak Rolltop Desk Mid Century Danish Modern
This is a gorgeous and genuine signed SMI Sweden teak veneer rolltop desk/secretary. The lid and top drawer have locks but the key is not included. It measures 36" wide. 38" high and 19" deep. It is in excellent condition with some chipping along the very bottom of the right and left edges and a few chips on the inside edges of two of the drawers that are not visible when it is closed. There is also a chip missing from the veneer on the bottom of the right front leg(see close up) Otherwise very clean and shiny with deep grain and rich bookend grain matching on the front roll. Very solid and the teak is rich and just gorgeous! It is loaded with sculptural angles and lines. The design of the desktop surface is a little bit different then most of the“floating” top type desks. The top cantilevers out over the drawers. This provides two storage areas directly underneath the desktop perfect for papers or files etc. Best part is that these two cubbies are invisible when viewing the desk from the front. So no visible clutter. Now yes, the open space area beneath any floating desktop could be used for placing paper or files etc. but on this desk, the areas were specifically designed with this intention in mind…and again, keeps whatever is stored there invisible from the front.
