This desk definitely needs a lot of work, but the ... morebones are there. The drawers are in excellent shape, nothing is missing. They have some ink in them from stampers and other office supplies. The top possibly has water or some other type of damage, one of the casters needs to be replaced, the legs are chipping and one of them needs to be screwed in some more and possibly bent a little. I adore this little desk, but I just don't have the time to properly restore it. I work in Austin, TX and can deliver the desk up to a certain distance (I would be willing to travel to Houston or San Antonio) or you can pick it up from me. I will not be shipping it.

For sale is one of the many iterations of the Executive Desk designed by George Nelson for Herman Miller. The desk is in two parts the bolt together. The lower side with open shelves at the corner and the other with two drawers. The long side measures 65" long, 29.5" deep, and 28" tall. The shorter side measures 5' long including the upper level and 35.5" long before it tucks under the top section. The smaller lower section is 18.5" deep and 25.5" tall. It is in overall very good condition but there are some faint stains, shallow scratches on the top, and a couple stray paint marks on the sides. Sturdy laminate writing area, wooden storage bin and 3 action pull out drawers all on a cast aluminum trestle style base made by the famous Herman Miller company in the mid 1960's. Researching all the similar desks, I have priced it at what I feel is a great price and will now detail the specifics. It is an early production ... moremodel and is in overall beautiful condition and measures 50" across the front, is 32" tall, 29" writing table section ht. from floor) and 32" in depth, front to back. Next, the walnut tambor is solidly constructed, has no chips or splits and rolls smoothly back and forth as needed. The off white sturdy laminate top is slightly angled upward towards the rear and is in excellent condition with no scratches or stains or any hard use markings. Beneath the top are three gray pull out shallow wood front drawers with impressed dividers for small desk accessory items. These three are also in immaculate condition. The unique T legs have a styled divide line and the cast aluminum does show some normal aging. The stabilizing low connecting polished steel trestle bar is beautiful and the black wooden sides of the desk have been repainted over the original black with the same black color. This belongs on a George Nelson. Home office desk from Herman Miller I have been sitting on this. Thinking I would find an incomplete home office desk, circa 1948. Well those things are pretty rare. And so is this. I have been waiting for two years to make a complete desk. But don't have the top, legs, or the left side unit. This came from a Herman Miller dealers closeout. Desk top and credenza top are in nice shape. Nothing distracting. Edge wear and edge finish dryness is visible in daily use areas. Random dings and scuffs evident throughout. There are extra holes in the top of the drawer stack and credenza where the desk top sits. The aforementioned holes are covered when the desk top is in place except 2 on the drawer stack and 3 on the credenza. These five holes are not covered by the top. But due to their location are hard to see because they are under the overhang of the desk top. You will also notice multiple holes in the bottom frame of the desk top(not visible when top is in place) The back side of the drawer stack shows strong edge wear. The sides of the desk were originally ... moreblack. The previous owner painted the sides of the desk as well as the top of the file cabinet flap in brown tones as pictured. The inside of the file cabinet has a black mark as pictured, the inside smells kind of like a wood fire(this desk came from a very cool artist's compound and spent its life next to a wood burning stove. It is not very notable if you have the flap down and kind of gives the desk great character but should be mentioned. One little spacer and screw are missing on the drop down flap glide as shown in picture 16(there is also a scratch to the side of the desk also pictured in this image) this should be an easy fix but still works fine as is- the original hardware on the other side is pictured in image 17. The drop down flap has some minor wear as pictured in pictures 8 and 9. The aluminum legs have some expected scuffs but could likely be polished. The desk surface has some light scratches and some yellow marks(mostly on the right side) which are not too distracting can probably be cleaned up(see picture 10) The wood front of the desk(visible when the roll top is in the closed position) has some light water marks as shown in picture 14. Herman Miller George Nelson Desk Mid Century Modern AUTHENTIC
This is a classic desk manufacture by Herman Miller and designed by George Nelson. The desk has the Herman Miller tag inside the top drawer. The Herman Miller tag on the bottom has been worn away but you can still see where it was. It is stamped March 1970 inside the drawer. 29 inches high 29.5 inches deep 71 inches wide I have taken multiple pictures to show the condition. Wear is most noticeable at the edges. That is normal. The desk is Walnut for the base and Formica like for the desk top. If I was going to keep the desk myself I would get some PSA Veneer and redo the top and edges. It is very easy to do and anyone that does wood working could do it for a couple hundred bucks. I will leave that up to you. 1960's Herman Miller Mid-Century Executive desk. Absolutely fabulous piece of mid century furniture. This piece is NOT perfect. Good news.it's solid as a rock. Nothing loose. Broken, or damaged. Vintage George Nelson Herman Miller Credenza Desk Return Mid Century Modern
Up for auction is a very nice George Nelson for Herman Miller desk return or secretary credenza. This is a one owner piece that came out of a prominent Grand Rapids Architects office. I believe this is part of the executive office group or EOG and was designed in 1958. It is made of walnut with chrome square tubular legs. It has a cut out in the top for electrical cords and has a recessed shelf area on the right side. It is all original and in very good condition for its age. Retains original Herman Miller label. Does have some minor scratches but no major damage. Finished on back as well to float in the middle of a room. Perfect for that"Madmen" office.
