I did not find the manufacturer marking or label but the desk definitely looks to be of Danish origin and the design is very similar to the works of Arne Vodder or Kai Kristensen but neither has not been confirmed. Age: Circa 1960's Measurements: 29.75" H. 49" W with the flap down and 62" W with the flap up, 24.25"d. Condition: I tem is in remarkable vintage condition being structurally sound and sturdy with very light signs of use as pictured. Overall a very nice find. This beautifully crafted desk has a"boomerang" shaped asymmetrical top with rolled edges and sculptural legs with brass detail. It has three drawers. Sculptural Teak Writing Desk- Denmark. C. 1950s When it comes to vintage"compact" desks. This is one of the coolest designs we know of. It is a terrific piece for those looking for a smaller design without sacrificing high style(check out those Kagan style legs! The piece has the workspace and function of a typical desk, with a room friendly footprint. The design gives off a light and airy feel while still giving a generous work-top surface. You also have a storage cabinet with removable shelf and locking door(original key included) PLUS three drawers with cool sculptural teak handles. The desk is finished on all sides so placement in the middle of a room will look great. There are some nice additional touches as well. Drawers have book matched teak grain and the interior length runs the full depth of the desk providing more storage ... morethen one might think. The storage cabinet also runs the full depth. So its very spacious as well. The desk is comprised both solid teakwood and teakwood veneer. Leg supports are solid teak. Hovmand Olsen teak chair shown in some of the pictures is NOT included. measurements Overall 49” wide by 24 deep by 29 3/8” high and the interior of each drawer is 10 3/4” wide by 16 3/4” deep by 3” height. The front bookshelf is 19.5" wide by 11" high(inside the front molding) by 9.25. deep. The door cabinet has an interior of 11.5" wide by 21" deep by 10.75" high. The seat area opening clearance is 19.5” wide. condition Overall great for its age. Very clean and ready to use. Top received a light refinish and looks great. Looks to be made of Teak Wood stamped signature on the bottom. Fold down part sticks a little bit top has a couple gouges or deep scratches also has a dark stain spot on the top top could be refinished to remove the stain or very useable like it is. 1960s Mid Century Modern Desk Unusual Atomic piece, large teak slab
This is an unusual Atomic Desk/casual table. The top is a solid single piece of Teak. 27" by 63" by 2" thick. The desk is 29" high. Very cool to find a slab that big! The swooping atomic legs are also from teak. There is a built in shelf at each leg. I have had this piece in my collection for more than ten years, and have used it as a desk. a few minor water marks on the top, but can easily be buffed out. I have priced it to move as I am downsizing. NOTE: there is a crack in the top typical of large slabs. See photos. Not unusual these cracks are seen in many Nakashima live edge pieces with big slabs, and he ususally put in a contrasting wood butterfly piece. I did not butterfly the crack as has stabilized. The bottom drawer has a chip of wood missing along the top though it is not very noticeable and there is a tiny chip on the left end in the upper left hand corner.
