Condition: Used Location: Douglasville, United States Up for auction is a Globe Wernicke file cabinet from between 1910 and 1920. It is made of quartered oak with an antique oak finish and brass hardware. ... moreThe gold"Globe" stenciling still remains on the top of the unit. The dimentions are 18' deep. 17.5 wide and 31.5' tall. It is fully functional and the file cabinet unit and the card catalog drawers work as intended with the original hardware remaining. Condition: Good original condition with the usual age related scratches and blemishes to the finish. There is dark staining and a little rippling to the veneer on the top. Most of the finish is definately originial. But I'm really not sure if the sides of the file cabinet unit have been refinished at some point. They have the same type of wear as the rest of the unit, but are noticibly lighter than the patina on the rest of the pieces. The brass side bands have oxidation on parts of them. Shipping: Good news.I have all the packing materials and therefore will not charge a wrapping fee. Bad news.this is a heavy piece. About 60 lbs all packaged up so will be expensive to ship. The pulls are marked Y and E for Yawman and Erbe mfg. co. The overall dimensions are 33" wide x 25" deep x 59-1/2" tall. Each section is 12" tall and the leg base is 10" tall with the cap being 2" tall x 18" deep. The drawing storage drawers have an interior dimension of 30-1/2" x 23-1/2" x 4" There are added metal divider clips in 3 of the drawers and 1 drawer has divider boards in the clips. This is to accommodate letter size paper storage and could all be easily removed. Both drawing storage sections have the front top finished panel that can be seen in front of the cap. The letter ... morefile drawers have an interior dimension 12" wide and 10-1/2" tall. One of the drawers is missing the metal rod and knob that would hold dividers and or papers into the drawer. Antique Stow Davis solid walnut barrister stacking bookcase file cabinet 1934
67" tall. 33" wide, 25"deep. Two bookcase sections 14.5" tall. One 12.5" tall. Style seems to be Mission crossing over to Mid Century Modern. Stow Davis was one of the top furniture makers of high quality office furniture. They employed well known designers and are known for their Mid Century Modern styles. This piece is very well built high quality solid walnut. Great orginial condition and finish. It has seven stacking sections. Base, file cabinet, file cabinet top, three bookcase sections, bookcase top. Each section is stamped with Stow Davis logo, several sections have 1934 date on them. Hardware looks to be high quality stainless steel. Only problems are one of file drawer is missing steel carraige and doesn't pull out as easy as the other and there is a repaired crack toward back of file cabinet. File draws have the folder holders inside. Insides of the file draws are metal, painted green. Bookcase door works well. Antique Globe Wernicke Oak Stacking File Cabinet Barrister
Up for auction is a Globe Wernicke file cabinet from between 1910 and 1920. It is made of quartered oak with an antique oak finish and brass hardware. The gold"Globe" stenciling still remains on the top of the unit. The dimentions are 18' deep. 17.5 wide and 31.5' tall. It is fully functional and the file cabinet unit and the card catalog drawers work as intended with the original hardware remaining. Condition: Good original condition with the usual age related scratches and blemishes to the finish. There is dark staining and a little rippling to the veneer on the top. Most of the finish is definately originial. But I'm really not sure if the sides of the file cabinet unit have been refinished at some point. They have the same type of wear as the rest of the unit, but are noticibly lighter than the patina on the rest ... moreof the pieces. The brass side bands have oxidation on parts of them. Shipping: Good news.I have all the packing materials and therefore will not charge a wrapping fee. Bad news.this is a heavy piece. About 60 lbs all packaged up so will be expensive to ship. I will ship in one or two boxes 24' by 24' to be able to pad it accordingly and make sure it gets to you undamaged. Shipping will be via FedEx ground.
