The back is still very solid and has the original pull which is a little crooked due to the fact that the screw is bent that is attached to the pull. The scissor hardware for the door is all there. The two boards on the top are good and strong. It is a little dirty but will clean up nicely. Pictures will show you views of this item. Knob width at the TOP DIAMETER is 1 3/16" TOTAL KNOB HEIGHT is 7/8" BASE WIDTH IS 1/2" These are the correct size and profile for the drawer bases for Globe Wernicke® and Macey stack units(although they work great for Gunn, Lundstrum, Weis, Danner and others as well) There were at least 8 different styles of knobs. This style was the most prominent and the best made of the 4 cast versions. It is made of polished brass and then aged to match your original knobs. The aging and burnish process takes a 5 step process and can be hazardous to perform. The aging/burnishing is done at essentially cost. See our ad for Aging Solution. It has three glass doored sections for books(the top section is 8 1/2" high. The middle section is 10 1/4" high. Located in Edmonds Washington 98020. This Highly collectible Vintage Antique Stacking Sectional Bookcase. By Globe Wernicke. The wood is in very good condition. The glass doors need to be cleaned. But are in great shape. No cracks or chips in the glass. Universal 13 inch unit-Pattern 813-GRADE is: 4098 1/2 4 Sections High with Top& Base. By 1936. GW had introduced the Ambassador style, which appears to be Universal style book sections with a different style base and top. The sections have metal strips(often called“straps” that cover the joints between the sections. And also serve to lock one stack to another stack next to it. These straps are finished in what GW called an“oxidized” finish. Knobs are typically made of brass. From an estate sale. A 5-section barriester bookcase with base and top. The top 3 sections are regular bookcases, the bottom two sections each have 3 file cabinet drawers. Patent date 1917. Overall outside dimensions are 41.5" wide, 17" deep, and 79" tall. The inside dimensions of the bookcase shelf: 15.5" between the back and the back face of the door, 40" wide, and 10" tall to the bottom of the door when it is rolled up- that is, the*useful* height that you could fit a book in. I did some google research and couldn't find a standard size the corresponded to these dimensions. So they may be a custom unit. Very deep, but pretty short. There's nail holes on the fronts of the file drawers, looks like they used to have handles, and probably also brass frames for putting a label in. So you might want to replace ... morethose. Estate find two stack barrister bookcase from Globe Wernicke with wavy glass and the original finish. Looks almost like an old cherry piece but it is Style 398- Richly Finished Imitation Dark Mahogany according to the folks at Globe-WernickeUSA.com. Needs polished and has a few small nicks but overall very attractive. The side leg has a drip stain of some sort you can see in the picture. Comes apart for easy transport. No missing or damaged hardware. Back is in fine shape. Very well kept in and out. Measures 34" wide. 13" deep and 36" tall.
