A large and substantial, 19th century cut glass bowl on heavy foot and stem. This is an individually mouth-blown. Handmade piece. A stunning centrepiece. Possibly intended for pickles or sweetmeats. Over-large for an individual bowl. Could be used as a rose bowl. Would make a great addition to a Victorian glass collection! The base and stem are plain; the bowl is of clear glass. With deep cutting in a simple style. Ovals and narrow leaf-shapes. The bowl and the foot ha ve been joined at either end of the stem. All the glass is of a substantial thickness. Appropriate to the size of the item. There are one or two very tiny bubbles in the glass, and a larger one. Just off-centre, in the base which can be seen looking down through the stem. The bowl is certainly hand-made and has som e age to it. There is a realistic amount of very fine grazing ... morearound the edge of the base. A great piece to acquire for a 19th century collection. Seven Victorian, fern-etched wine glasses
This is what we believe to be a group of seven. Victorian, similarly etched, lead glass, wine glasses dating from the period of pteridomania( a craze for ferns) in the late 19th century. The glasses are in excellent condition. This means. Of course, that they show age related wear and tear consistent with age and use. The glasses are of two forms. All decorated with the same pattern. Four are ovoid bowled and three are cup shaped. Antique Stained Glass, Cobalt Cut to Clear, Boston Trolley Window Pane
This framed pane of stained glass measures 6 5/8 inches by 5 1/4 inches. The simple painted wooden frame has a tiny metal ring affixed at the top to allow the pane to be hung up. The glass is cobalt blue. Cut to clear in the design of a harp with flowers and vines. We were told that this pane of glass once decorated a 19th century Boston Trolley car. The condition is excellent. There are no chips or cracks. The cuts made by the glazier to reveal the pattern can be felt on the reverse. The front of the pane is smooth. It is unsigned. The slender frame appears to be circa 1900. The mid-19th century pane has numerous tiny imperfections such as bubbles and stretch marks often seen in antique glass. antique Glass DIPPER w/turned wooden handle Church collection or Kitchen??
Here's an item that I'm not certain as to what its original purpose was. It's a dipper of some sort with a thick and heavy glass cup that's attached to a turned wooden handle. It was made like this and isn't something that was put together. The glass cup has a very thickly shouldered receptacle for the wooden handle to fit into and is secured with a slotted screw and leather washer. The bottom of the glass cup is rounded so it won't sit flat on a table. That leads me to believe it was not a dipper but more likely a tool used to collect cash donations at a church or something similar. Being clear glass. You couldn't just throw in a couple pennies and not be noticed. That's just MY theory. If anyone really knows what this was used for, please let me know. It's well made and the handle is securely attached ... moreto the glass cup. The cup is 3.5" wide and the wooden handle is 9.5" long. This beautiful French Art Glass Vase measures about 10" tall. It is in very nice condition with only light wear to the gilding. Opaline Glass was at the height of popularity in France around 1860. I believe this piece probably dates to around 1900. It is not pontilled. But has some wear to the base. It is really a stunning piece of Opaline glass.

And this type of decoration was also reproduced in Europe throughout the 20th century. The mugs were hand blown and have factory ground and polished top rims. Each mug stands about 5 1/4" tall with a 3" wide top rim. Both are in fine used condition, no damage to the glass and showing minimal loss of applied decoration. The relief areas of the glass are much more pronounced than what is generally found and the metal work is exceptional. Most of what you find in these pieces display simple necks. Lids and handles. This piece displays a magnificently ornate handle, lid, neck and shoulder bib! The beautiful White Opaque glass jar was produced by Pairpoint Manufacturing of New bedford. Mass, it was decorated by the C. F. Monroe Co from Meriden, Conn, it is signed with the Wave Crest ... morebanner trade mark with C.F.M. Co. The jar is set off with(4) panels of hand painted florals in muted pastel tones on stark white with the jar wrapped at top and bottom with a pastel Blue. Blue is a bit deeper than displayed in the images) The piece carries a square stature measuring(5 x 5) inches and standing(8 1/4) inches to the top of the lid handle.11 1/4" with the swing handle in the up position. There are absolutely no chips. Flakes or scratches in the glass! The very ornate metal work(handle. Lid, rim, and shoulder bib) are made of pewter and silverplated.the metal is unsigned. There are no dings, scratches or rough areas in the metal work. The lid and shoulders have a fine scalloped and bead design with florals, while the handle that adorns the jar is in a beaded frame with a scrolled boxed design at its crest. The silverplate is in excellent condition with no worn areas and is toned to a deep patina. Rare, Mechanical, German Bisque Nodder - Double Candlestick, Monkeys on Seesaw
Up for bid is a really unique. Figural, rare, and whimsical piece of German bisque in the form of a single stem, double welled candlestick which, at the end of the main stem, features a rocking/nodding horizontal branch that, on both end sides, has a monkey sitting on it. When gently pushed, the monkeys rock back and forth giving the impression of them playing see-saw. And just underneath is the base under which the pendulum is disguised. The coloring is soft and subtle- shades of pink and white with gold highlighting. This coloring allows the deeper coloring of the monkeys to be focal point of the piece. The monkeys are of dark brown with flesh-toned hands and feet and realistic coloring and expressive faces- they do look happy to me. The entire back of the piece is all white. On the underside of the base is a large, heavy pendulum ball ... morethat serves to operate the rocking pin mechanism. The piece is marked in 2 places with the exact same mark- XX" The mark appears on one side of the piece's underside; the second is on the pendulum itself. The piece stands 8.5" inches tall at its highest point and 5.5" inches wide at its widest. Condition note. The top horizontal branch on which the left candle well sits. Has, at some time, been broken neatly off and poorly reglued as the old glue can be readily seen; this would be a very easy fix for the new owner. I'd take it aprt and so a simple reglue. If done, this repair wouldn't be able to be seen. On the very back of the same well, there is a small rough spot I can see and I don't know if it occurred in manufacture or if it was chipped at some point. It feels smooth to my touch and so if it was chipped, it was done long ago. And one last thing to be aware of. the pin which holds the monkey in place facilitates the rocking motion just fine but the pin has to be correctly in position. It has a tendency to slip if not careful and has to be adjusted from time to time. When it sits perfectly, the rocking mechanism works just great. This would be a
