Please check my photos of this wonderful Singer classic model 20 machine. It is in fine working order and also comes with a wooden spool of Clark's Thread. Singer 20. When the Singer 20 toy sewing machine was introduced in 1910 it was in a league of its own. Although the Singer 20 was of a simple chain stitch design requiring just 40 components. It was very well engineered with a cast iron body. Compared to other toy sewing machines of its era, and indeed since then until the present, it is far more like a miniature adult machine than a child’s toy. When other manufacturers wanted to enter the same market, many decided to do so with a close copy of the Singer 20. After the end of WW2 several U.K. companies such as Essex. Grain and Vulcan decided to produce toy sewing machines. The first machines from all of these makers very closely resemble the Singer 20. The Japanese made Lead(All Lead) machines were produced from 1931 until 1941. These seem to have been even closer replicas of the Singer 20. For collectors there are 4 main versions of the Singer 20 machines. The original Singer 20-1’s were first sold in 1910 with 4 spoke handwheels. In 1914 the second version had an 8 spoked handwheel and had tension discs added. Then in 1926 numbers were stamped onto the machine to indicate the threading path. In the 1950’s the 4th major change(model 20-10) saw a completely different look to the machine with an aluminum body with rectangular base. A full width stitch plate and an enclosed mechanism. This was also known as the Singer 20 Sewhandy which came in standard black, tan or cream and very rarely in red or blue. A penny lick was a small glass for serving ice cream from the mid nineteenth century to the early twentieth century Street vendors would sell the contents of the glass for one penny. The glass was usually made with a thick glass base and a shallow depression on top in which the ice cream was placed. The customer would lick clean the glass and return it to the vendor. Who would reuse it. The thickness of the glass made the contents appear greater than they were. Victorian Globe and Shaft Etched Glass Decanter and Stopper C.1890 Leaf Pattern This is a very attractive late Victorian cut glass decanter and stopper dating from between 1880 and 1910. It is made of hand blown glass. The hollow blown stopper is ground to fit. The body is decorated with a band of etched frosted vine and fern leaves. Size: 12 1/2 inches(31.5cm) high including stopper. Weight: 504 grammes Condition: Pretty good = there are no cracks or chips the only fault I can find is that the stopper is not an airtight fit- but it does appear to be the original and have been made like that- see the photographs. What a beautiful antique Biscuit Jar by Consolidated Glass& Lamp Co. This has a wonderful satin finish and Dark ruby red flowers. It has a Pewter collar and lid. I stands 5 1/2 inches tall to the top of the finial. There is no damage at all to this Jar which is fantastic considering it is well over 100 years old! Antique Victorian Cranberry Glass Bowl / Basket in Brass Holder
This is a more unusual piece of Cranberry. Which comes in two parts: a red glass bowl and a brass basket in which the bowl sits. The bowl has an upper diameter of 10.6cm and is 6.8cm high. You can see that the glass is mouth-blown from the small bubble enclosures and impurities. The glass is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The bowl is made of a network of brass acorns and oak leafs with a hinged handle on the top. It stands on three legs, and with the handle in its upright position the basket is ca. 16cm high. The metal was once silvered, but the plating has all but worn off.
