This is Map#47, removed from ATLAS de TOUTES LES PARTIES CONNUES DU GLOBE TERRESTRE. First Published in Paris in 1780, and reprinted several times during the American Revolution by J. Pellet in Geneva, and once after, in 1787. A printed label affixed to the paper backing states that this is the Paris, 1780, first issue of this map. Rare Antique 1781 Revolutionary War Map & Chart of Bay of Chesapeak John Lodge
Here's a Super Antique 1781 Map and Chart of the Chesapeak Bay.Now the Seat of War by John Lodge and Published by J. Bew. London. This is an original map from 1781 and not a later copy. It's in apparent Good Condition having not been examined out of the frame. It's hard to tell what dirt and foxing, etc. is on the map or what may be on the inside glass. There's a fold down the center as it came from a book or other periodical originally. I don't see any rips or other damage of that type. The mat has some stains and other damage(example, picture 8) The Bird's Eye Maple frame has chips and losses(example, picture 7) The overall dimensions including the frame are about 17 and 13/16" by 21 and 5/8" A great piece for a Revolutionary War or Maryland Historian.
