Bromley and Co. Philadelphia. This map measures approximately 30 1/2 x 20 1/2 inches. Including the border area. The map has fantastic coloring to it and is a great period street map. The map is generally in Very Good condition. There is some wear and browning along the edges. There is a crease down the middle where it was originally bound. There are creases in the corners. Other dings here and there. As well. This map is a great piece of Pennsylvania history and it will look very nice when framed. Please note that while I have included pictures of the front board of the Atlas. The Title Page and the Explanations page from the Atlas this map was taken from, they are NOT included in the sale, as they are reference pieces to determine authenticity for the other maps. Rare Antique 1886 SMITH'S DRIVING MAP OF PHILADELPHIA & VICINITY Pocket Fold-Out
I will be listing a variety of nice Antique and Vintage Items this week. Here is a Scarce 1886 LARGE FOLD-OUT POCKET MAP Entitled"NEW DRIVING MAP OF PHILADELPHIA AND VICINITY" Published by J.L. SMITH. Philadelphia. PA, 1886. Entrance Date of 1882 below border line. Map is approx. 44" x 27-1/4" Map with the original Gilt-Stamped Binding is in poor"As Found" condition from estate. Map is almost all there with exception of few small spots. But map is presently like a jigsaw puzzle torn apart in a number of pieces, with some small loose pieces being adhesive stuck to a remnant backing paper. Some of this other backing paper is still stuck at the glue spots on the back. The left half of map is actually in decent condition with exception of the stain spots, but the right half has all the torn sections and little loose ... morepieces. I assume map was once framed in it's history with the brown adhesive tack spots around edges and map torn out of the pocket binding. There are also tape remnants all around the exterior edges of the binding where I assume binding was presented with the map on the frame. Still, an interesting and impressive-size antique map of Philadelphia worthy of some attention. Look for my other Old Maps and Items I will be listing as well. See listing for payment and shipping details. Feel free to email me with any questions. Thanks for looking!

c 1895 Map of Philadelphia - RARE - Part of Wards 1, 2, 3, 4, & 26
Up for sale is a LARGE. Authentic, antique map of a small set of blocks in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This map has property specific detail of Part of Wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 26. On the far right, is the Delaware River and on the far left is 10th Avenue. This map is Plate 4 from the Atlas of Philadelphia- Complete in One Volume- From Actual Surveys and Official Plans by George W. and Walter S. Bromley. Civil Engineers. No copyright date, but I believe this is the 1895 edition. This map measures approximately 32 x 22 inches. Including the border area. The map has fantastic coloring to it and is a great period street map. Listing factories, churches, public schools, coal yards, stables, cemetaries, railroads, etc. of the time. Excellent, detailed and interesting period map of the City of Philadelphia. It is blank on the reverse side and it is matted ... moreon a piece of hard cardboard. The back of the cardboard has lots of scuff marks/stains and browning. Maps this early and showing this much detail of the streets of Philadelphia are VERY SCARCE. The map has lots of color coding to represent various attributes(stone buildings. Brick buildings, etc. The map is generally in Fair condition. There is heavy wear and browning along the 1 inch boarder. There are notes written in different colored ink and pencil throughout the map. These notations were all made by a previous owner. There are chips and tears along the edges of the border. However, none of these affects the actual map. There is heavier staining along the bottom edge. There are also several"water splotches" and other stains throughout the map. Other dings here and there. As well. This map is a great piece of Pennsylvania history and it will look very nice when framed. Please note that while I have included pictures of the front board of the Atlas this map was taken from. It is NOT included in the sale, as it is a reference piece to determine authenticity for the other maps. I would be happy to include a copy if requested. Please see my store for other great ite
