Bellin provided a huge number of maps for L'Abbe Prevost's'Histoire Generale des Voyages' A 25 volume plus work describing the discoveries, journeys and settlements of seventeenth and early eighteenth century European powers. Many of these maps were issued in Dutch and German as well as French. This very attractive map of southern Mexico. Guatemala and Honduras, comes from a 1757 French edition of'Histoire. The run of the Desilver atlas was more limited in number than the previous Cowperthwait publishing, thus the Desilver maps are the rarest of all the Mitchell maps published and difficult to find. A copy of the title page is included. Bonus Map of Mexico: I am also including a bonus map of Mexico that has a very bad tear across it with some paper loss. Although there are some small insets that could be framed up or of interest. Size: The map image measures approximately 12 by 15 1/2 inches on a 13 3/4 by 17" page. Condition: The map is in Very Good condition for its age with overall tonal aging and original handcoloring as issued. Blank on the reverse, printed on a strong flexible page, not brittle, basically as seen in the pics. These maps are in excellent condition. No signs of wear, no writing, and only very slight aging to the paper. They look like they could have come new off the map rack at an Esso station. They are all in Spanish and have some wonderful advertising as well as tourist information and photos. I dated these maps from their date codes in the form of 248(February 1948) The cartography is by General Drafting. Guatemala 10/1947- Pristine. El Salvador 07/1947- Tiny 4mm tear to the back cover as seen in scan on photo 3. Nicaragua 10/1947- Pristine. Honduras 02/1948- Shadowy mark on the back cover. Likely from the factory.
