The four-cornered division of land corresponding to an atlas sheet is called a quadrangle. The sheets are of approximately the saw size: the paper dimensions are 20 x 16.5 inches. The map occupies about 17.5 inches of height and 11.5 to 16 inches of width, the latter varying with latitude. Signed by THE DIRECTOR. United States Geological Survey, Washington, DC and dated December 1, 1906
