Up for sale is this beautiful antique dome top steamer trunk with ornate embossed metal and a working key. It measures 32" long by 18" wide and 21" tall. The exterior of this trunk was cleaned. The wood slats sanded, stained with minwax"golden oak" then the entire trunk was sealed with spar urethane. The interior lining was removed then the wood was sanded and stained with minwax"golden oak" as well. This trunk shows some wear from age and has some minor flaws i.e. one of the hinges is broke(does not effect the stability, very functional) overall the trunk is in very good condition. Today you can go anywhere in the entire world within 24 hours by plane. Just think way back when before commercial airlines. People traveled primarily by railroad or by ship. Traveling was long, hard, and exhausting. People would literally live out of these trunks as they traveled for weeks and sometimes months on end. Thus. They were built with quality and built to last, which is why they have stood the test of time! The craftsmanship that went into the construction and design of theses ole’ trunks are truly nothing short of spectacular. I recently discovered this wardrobe trunk buried ... morein the rafters in the attic of a local farm house estate in a in nearby town. It stopped me dead in tracks and I had to literally pick my jaw up off the floor! There was no way I was leaving without this trunk. And lucky for me I had hubby to carry it out of the attic and down 3 flits of stairs! And now for the decription… This is a nice authentic period Wardrobe steamer trunk. It is signed on the exterior by the maker Oshkosh Trunk Company. I am unsure of the exact age. But it was clearly left where I had found it for a very very long time. If I had to guestimate I would say it is likely from the early 20 th century. It measures 40 x 22 x 20 inches and weighs 75 pounds respectfully. The exterior is covered with what appears to be a volcanized material with dozens of original brass. Nails, knobs Hinges, Lock and hardware. The lock comes with key and functions as designed. On the interior right side. The trunk has 5 wood drawers with original deco drawer pulls and covered in swanky antique fabric. This is a vintage piece of luggage that is in used but good condition. It is an extremely rare find and rarer to find in this condition and with key. It is blue slim steamer trunk with blue leather trim and leather handles. The trunk opens up and locks in place to allow for clothes to hang from the hangers. The bottom area has dividers and ribbon ties to secure your items. Both sections have a cloth cover. The bottom has snaps to secure it to the bottom of one of the dividers. This trunk is absolutely adorable. It would make a great display piece, end table, or would make ideal storage. It is also quite usable but it is old so I would handle with some care. This trunk measures approx 36" X 21" X 13" It's in amazing condition for something that was made in the very early 1900's. No significant bumps or bruises.just some marks as you would expect given what these steamers go through with baggage handling years ago. All hinges, latches and metal corners look great. Antique Hartman steamer trunk w/ original lock and key, coffee table, vintage
For your consideration a beautiful antique steamer trunk from the turn of the century manufactured by Hartman of Racine Wisconsin. This trunk features its original locka with original key both function flawlessly. The trunk retains all of it original hinges buckles and both leather handles which are all in excellent condition. The trunk also retains the original Hartmann and Gibrlatorized logos which are also in excellent vintage condition and can be read easily. The inside of this trunk is in as nice of shape as the outside showing one small tear in the material on the top side of the trunk. Easy fix. The inside is lined in a silk type of material. The trunk is missing the inside shelf to divide it top to bottom. The exterior condition shows very minor scuffs, no dents it has a couple of paint dots on it here and there very non distracting ... moreand it adds character to the piece. This would work perfectly as a coffee table or storage at the end of the bed for blankets and pillows. This is truelly a fantastic conversation piece and is in excellent vintage condition. You don't often find them pretty well intact with the original key and lock. There are no pry marks across the top edge either as it has its original key. The measures ments of the trunk are 36 inches side to side, 23 inches deep and 25 inches top to bottom. No reserve auction, high bidder wins! I will ship this trunk via Greyhound package express to the closest Greyhound terminal of the winning bidder where it will have to be picked up. They will hold the piece for two days for free. Two dollars everyday thereafter.

This trunk was made to fit under the seats on a steam train(hint steamer trunk) I installed new double ply stitched leather handles. very strong) made by local amish here in central PA. Also the leather straps and buckles are new and fully functional. The exterior was cleaned. Brushed& sealed for protection as well as conservation, I leave the cracks& dents to preserve the character the trunk has ocumulated over the many years. New high end fabric interior was put on after stripping. Cleaning, brushing, drying and sealing the interior. some say fabric was not used for the interior originally. Fabulous! Gorgeous! This steamer trunk is just magnificent. In excellent condition though a little dirty from age and use. Wooden frame is wrapped in a black painted canvas. Drawers are wrapped in yellow canvas except where the floral fabric is present. Drawers are wood! The chest has brass or brass plated heavy duty rounded corners. The strapping is some form of inflexible metal. Steel perhaps. The leather handle is missing one end and does slip out. But w 85% of handle present the handle could be duplicated w authenticity to original design! Emblems are beautiful! Shiny and detailed. L.W. is painted and bright in a classical shadow block font. The lock outside works as does top drawer lock! Original keys. All hinges and seaman are solid and tight. Trunk is in excellent functioning condition! The laminated hangers are included! The shoe ... morepockets are a lovely detail. There are two blue snapping straps inside. Umbrella, cane? There is a pin cushion type of ball attached to a wooden slat. The hump is magical. This is a find! Collection piece. Prop for theatre, photography shoot, window display, movie! The dimensions of this piece are 43" x 21" x 21" The weight is 85 pounds. Up for auction we have another wonderful antique trunk recently refinished on the outside. It measures: 34 x 20 x 21.5- and will provide wonderful storage for home or office. Inside is original paper lining- fresh smelling. Slightly curved top- perfect for plants. Coffee cup, magazines, or other decorations. Originally canvas covered and we removed the dried canvas- sanded the pine wood smooth, and treated it with Tung Oil- handles have been replaced and are nice thick leather ones- trunk is solid and will make a statement in any room of your home. It measures about 1.25 inches long. I am unsure what the ley is for. But it's either a trunk or a cabinet. Please inspect pictures. The condition is good. But slightly worn. The'G' is very worn and hardly noticeable, the'2' is barely visible and finally the'3' is more distinct. The top of the key is slightly bent. Specks of rust in the dark patina, but nothing really of note. Please inspect pictures, I never clean vintage items so it can be cleaned up a bit if desired.
