The falcon is standing up with his talons clinging to a rock. The bird is looking forward with his wings to his side and head up. The bird has two holes one on the back of its neck and the other on top of its head. The hole on top of its head is where you blow to whistle. The falcon and the rock are glazed with a mottled brown background. It has very nice details of the face. Wings, and tail. Antique Porcelain Exquisite Dresden? Compote Bowl/Centerpiece W/3 Figurines!!!!!
From my 30 +++ years of collecting antiques. This is an antique Dresden style porcelain compote bowl/centerpiece with 3 figurines. The large procelain compote/centerpiece stands approx. 18 3/4" at it's highest point with the diameter around the bowl measuring approx. 28" 29" around the bottom section. The top opening of the bowl measures approx. 12 1/2" across x 13 3/4" across, at the longest points. Bowl is decorated with raised oak leaves and beautiful floral sprays of applied flowers. The bottom of the compote has a 3 footed base section. On the base of each foot, there are 2 open flowers, 2 closed flowers and 6 leaves on each. In this section, the pedals have chips on all the flowers except ONE. See photo#7& 8) One leaf is chipped and looks like 1 more has a"fleabite" chip. Otherwise, the rest ... moreare in good condition. The middle section has 3 figurines measuring approx. 4 1/2" 4 3/4" high. There is a large flower between each figurine. It has an approx. 8 1/4" pedestal with beautiful raised leaves and applied flowers. The 3 figurines, the 3 large flowers between them, and the leaves/flowers climbing up the pedestal are in excellent condition with no chips or damage that I can see. However, the very top section of the pedestal(where it attaches to the bottom of the bowl) has an approx 3" area that is chipped. See photo#9) Because of the location of this chip, I never know I had this until I was scrutinizing this porcelain to sell. It is underneath the bowl, but is present, nevertheless. Also, if you look at photo#9, you will also see 2 small flowers with a chip pedal on each. Except for these 2 small flowers, all the others on the bowl itself are in excellent condition! Pair Of Antique Christian Nonne Volkstedt Germany Porcelain Sweetmeat Servers
This is a pair of porcelain sweetmeat servers made by Christian Nonne Volkstedt. Thuringia Germany, founded in 1767. Each boy is pushing a cart made of leaves and berries. The porcelain front wheel is attached by a thin wire, so the wheel rolls. Each piece measures 5 1/2" tall, 6 1/4" long and 3 1/4" wide. Together, they weigh 1 pound 10.1 ounces. There are very small differences in these two boys: notice the turn of the head, grasp of the cart and folds on their robes. We're guessing these are from the very early 1900's but we could be wrong. The biggest difference is that one boy has had his back right leg repaired. It's an old repair with that glue that turned yellow. Both boys have some yellow spots inside their carts. Almost certainly German in origin, and in the 18th century Meissen style but later, and dating to around the latter half of the 19th century. The off white vase is of the highest quality and is in the form of a covered urn sitting atop a tree trunk with a smaller flowering tree encircling the urn. And a dog& doves at the base. The base is heavily encrusted with foliage& flowers and features a hound type dog and 4 bird figures. At one side grows a flowering tree(or rose bush? with its branches and flowers growing up and around the urn. The floral encrusted urn has a basket weave finish with a quatrefoil cartouch to front& ... morerear. The domed cover has quatrefoil piercings around the base. A pierced pattern to the dome and a flaming torch knop. The base is unmarked other than an incised'squiggle' see photo. The quality of the work on this vase is of a very high standard. Condition: The base is Fine other than 2 flower heads to the rear base having minor losses(each has a couple of petals missing- very difficult to notice on such a busy piece) The cover has had a light restoration with the knop& dome re-attached. The smaller one is by K& Co- the design is called"Poppy" This has a large crack- though the crack is stable. The larger is a pattern called Dresden- I do not know the maker. But the registered number( 36731) dates it to 1885 or just after. This one has a big chip on the back of the rim. So these are not perfect. But decorative and useable antiques. Sizes: the larger one is 9 inches wide. Here we have 2 antique bisque porcelain miniature figurines. The little girl measures 4" long and 1" tall and the little boy figurine measures 2" tall and 2 3/8" wide. It has what I believe is 6186 or 018? pressed into the back and the little girl is marked 352 on the bottom. The little boy is sitting by a tree trunk which is hollow so you could use it as a mini vase. It has a small flat flake on the top rim of the trunk(or vase rim) and some minimal paint loss as shown. The girl either has some paint loss along the edge of her bonnet or they are tiny fleabites.its touch to tell because the mold has a jagged lace edge. Both pieces display perfectly. Antique O E G Royal Austria Porcelain Hair Receiver Hand Painted Artist Signed Dated 1913 Description ~ This is an absolutely lovely hand painted hair receiver. The white ware was produced by O& E G Royal Austria. In a traditional form and of finely delicate porcelain. The hand painting features beautifully executed pink roses, earth tone vines and leaf that flow around the lid over an array of pastel green, teal, orange& violet colored background, this wonderfully painted lid sits snugly over a hand painted pastel green body. The inner circular rim on the lid is trimmed in gold. Condition ~ is superb. The colors are still bright. Full and very clean. There is a tiny spot of stray paint on the inside of the jar and if a finger is rubbed around the top of the jar, a few tiny nicks can be felt, these cannot be seen. There is a touch ... moreof fading to the gold trim and gold trim painting is a touch sloppy. Regardless, this is a very pristine hair receiver and has obviously been cherished as a great treasure. Artist Signiture ~ is hand printed on the bottom in red paint that reads; M. Koone ~ 1913 Backstamp ~ this mark was used by O E G Royal Austria from 1899 to 1918. It is a green under glaze. Circa ~ 1913 Measurement ~ Jar; 3” x 1& ¼” ~ Lid Diameter; 3& ½” O E G Royal Austria History from Kovels: This mark was used by Oscar and Edgar Gutherz of Altrolau. Bohemia(now Stara Role, Czech Republic) from 1899 to 1918. Oscar Gutherz and Maximilian Marx had started a porcelain decorating business in Altrolau in 1884 with financial backing from Lazarus Straus& Sons, an American importer. Later the company began making porcelain. In 1898 Oscar's brother, Edgar Gutherz, bought out Marx and joined Oscar in the business, which became known as the Oscar& Edgar Gutherz(O. E.G. Antique Chinese Japanese Kutani Porcelain Wise 3 Monkeys 19th
I have always thought the three wise monkeys had it right; simple"don'ts" that can save you a lot of difficulty and set the stage for a happy life. Each of the monkeys is seated: one covering his eyes. Another covering his ears, the third covering his mouth. H: 12 cm(tallest) Condition: Very Good. Some minor wear. Circa: to mid 19th.
