The plate is 8 5/8" in diameter. The backstamp is just some numbers"08 5" There are utensil marks in the glaze. You can see the stilt marks from the kiln on the front of the plate. And the pottery has oxidized around 1 of the marks. There are two 1" ... morehairlines on the edge of the plate(see photos) The pottery has oxidized a little at these spots. Such vibrant colors on this blooming rose scene! Artist signed by A. Broussillon(or Alfred Bronssillon) A famous Limoges artist especially known for his lovely roses. His yellow rose scene is done on a large, rather deep charger with a scalloped rim. Because of the depth of the plate, the roses are set back within it and the thick gold rim serves as a frame. It is even more beautiful in person! With a gold rim and green swirl design, from the Moritz Zdekauer(MZ Austria) porcelain factory of Altrohlau. Bohemia. The plate is decorated with a scene from one of Shakespeare's most famous plays- King Lear. However. It may be that the artist used one of the alternative endings to the tragedy- not the one written by Shakespeare. It appears that Lear's daughter Cordelia is comforting her father as he lies dying. In the play, Cordelia is murdered prior to Lear's own death. The scene is very realistically ... morerendered and is in fine detail. In the lower left corner are the words"Death of King Lear" in the lower right corner is the artist's signature"Walter Paget" Walter Stanley Paget(1863-1935) Was the youngest of the three Paget brothers. From the book"War Illustrators" Walter Paget and his brother Sidney were well-known illustrators who worked for books and the picture papers. Walter Paget's only campaign as a war correspondent appears to have been the Gordon Relief Expedition. Where he provided some interesting sketches of camp life which the Illustrated London News reproduced in facsimile. He was with General Sir Gerald Graham's army at the British base of Suakin on the Red Sea, and accompanied them to Tamai in 1884. Among the books that Walter Paget illustrated were Treasure Island-1899. Pilgrim's Progress-1906, and Arabian Nights-1907. He and his brother became staff artists for the Sphere when it was founded in 1900. The plate is marked"M Z Austria. According to Kovels' New Dictionary of Marks. This is a set of four decorative Porcelain cherub plates. The mark on the back indicates that they are Limoges. Done by Martial Redon sometime between 1891-1896. There is an additional mark indicating that they were manufactured in France for the prestigious Philadelphia jewelry firm: Bailey, Banks and Biddle. Set of 4 Delightful C1877 RORSTRAND Sweden PLATES w/ COUNTRY SCENES and COSTUMES
This is a beautiful SET OF FOUR heavy opaque porcelain plates from Rorstrand. Sweden, c. 1877. They are marked, Rorstrand OPAK" in a large impressed mark on the back. Beneath the mark is another impressed mark, 51. We found a Swedish dealer on line who dated the mark on this plate as being from 1877-1883. We think it could actually be somewhat earlier as the only similar images of Rorstrand we found were from before 1860. It is possible that the impressed“51” below the mark is the actual date. 1851. The first plate shows Mora. Which is a municipality in Sweden between Alvdalen and Rattvik. The plate shows a young woman looking over the countryside with a church in the distance. She is in traditional period dress, and the decoration is by polychrome transfer typical of the time. There is no gold wear on the rim. The plate measures 8 1/16 ... moreinches in diameter, and is in excellent condition with no chips. We looked closely at faint line that runs diagonally across the mark but we cannot determine if it’s a hairline forming or a line from the mold. The plate rings like a bell! So I believe it is an imperfection from the mold. The second plate has a polychrome transfer of a courting couple from the middle of 19 th Century. In a small Swedish community called Wingaker(Vingaker) This wonderful plate is in excellent condition. It has no chips or cracks. And only slight gold wear at the rim. The plate measures about 8 1/16 inches in diameter. The Rorstrand mark on the back is impressed in the porcelain and then over-marked with the town name, Wingaker. The third plate shows a polychrome transfer of a Swedish woman in period costume and riding horseback. From what we could find. The title on the back, Warend, hearkens back to the Swedish occupation of and rule over Estonia that ended in 1721. The title has to do with what is remembered by some as“The good old Swedish time. 5 Lovely Antique Kutani Hand Painted & Signed Porcelain Flower Plates Bold Pink
This auction is for a Superb Set of 5 Antique Hand Painted and Signed Pink Flower Asian Porcelain plates. They Display Wonderfully and would instantly add a burst of color to any china cabinet. They are beautifully hand painted with images of a large flower at the center and smaller flowers and leaves on top of a wide bold band of Pink and an edge of black with gold over-painted patterns. I believe they would be considered Kutani Export pieces given the form and feel of the porcelain and likely date to the early 1900 s. They are all signed on the back with Asian characters. Although they have similarly painted Pink and Black and Gold bordering. The plates are all slightly different. Three have purple flowers at the center; two have pink. The plates have age appropriate but minor loss of paint and gilting. You are bidding on a beautiful New Jersey Pottery Company- Trenton New Jersey was organized in 1869 and in 1883 became the Union Pottery Company. This plate was made between 1869-1883. It is decorated with applied victorian fruit and gold trim with gold gilted hand painted designs on the plate. It measusres 8 inches across and does have some flaking on the fruit. It also has crazing from age. This would be beautiful on anyones wall.

Floyd, Flow Blue Polychrome, Luster Plate, 7.25" overall excellent condition. some slight wear on brown trim due to vintage condition Yedo, Floyd, Flow Blue Polychrome, Luster Plate, 7.25" My information is that it is by Benjamin Floyd, c.1843 The the is painted brown. About 90% of the gilding is intact. Main colors are flow blue, green, orange and red. The flow blue transfers a lot to the back. Just a couple of short faint marks in the well. There is absolutely no crazing. Very Good Condition

Antique Chinese Rose Medallion Canton Shell Shaped Dish from the 19th Century. It is approximately 8 inches long and 5-3/4 inches at its widest point. This dish was fired in a Chinese Kiln and has a couple of firing flaws: There are two small unglazed spots at the the tip of the dish on the bottom(4th Photo) There is a small brown spot from oxygen oxidation in the kiln, Additionally. It has a small rough spot shown on the fifth photo(on the edge) There is a small spot of glaze loss on the 6th photo However it is in good condition considering its age. It was used. I use Paypal. The tinted shading is delicate like a soft sunrise with the tiny detailed bouquet of hand picked"forget-me-nots" Signed around bottom leaf by stems"A.M.L. 98" in black. Details of plate raised design is highlighted by hand applied gold paint. Mark on back is LIMOGES over left pointing ARROW over FRANCE in green which is a legitinate Limoges mark per research.
