Chokin has been produced since the 12th Century and is an ancient Japanese art of engraving copper and gilding it with 24K gold. The ancient engravings were originally designed to decorate Samurai warriors' battle armor. I believe it is porcelain rather than ceramic by the look and feel, but only my opinion as it's not marked. DALLWITZ PLATE This is quite an old plate made by Dallwitz in Germany. I do believe it is older than the 1920's. Probably the late 1800's. A plate with open handles, sparrow or similar bird, flowers, and feathered green sprays. The feathered sprays look like they were accented in gold at one time, as there is some gold still showing. Bird and flowers are painted in white and black. Blue color background consistent with the age reference for this plate. Dallwitz is impressed onto the back of the plate with the number 3 on one side and 635 on the other side 9" diameter-10" from handle to handle Estate find that shows wear consistent with age-there are no chips or cracks. A Staffordshire or Leeds Pearlware Hand Painted Strawberry Plate circa 1810 ~ 11 Round Strawberries& 6 Pink Roses ~ 7 1/2" in diameter A soft paste Staffordshire plate hand painted with a bright red round strawberries and leaves. With full pink roses scattered over thin brick red stripes, tendrils and a pink ribbon. This type of decoration is usually called Strawberry Pearlware. The back is marked with an impressed asterisk. In excellent condition; there are no chips. Cracks, restoration or over painting or touch up. Antique German Majolica Plate Basket Weave Zell?
This lovely plate features a basket weave and raised pattern of fruit. Branches, leaves and flowers on a warm tan background and measures just under 8 1/2 inches from edge to edge. The painting on the raised surfaces is very precise. The back of the plate is stamped Made in Germany with a 2723 followed by what looks like a backward capital letter L. The condition of this plate is very good.There are 3 minute places where the glaze has worn away from the yellow; it is a very small area which I have shown close-up in three photos. There are also two spots/fleabites on the rim approx 0.5cm where the glaze has been worn away(likely from a picture hanger) These very slight"imperfections" will not detract from your enjoyment of this item. This delightful open work china dish has two cherubs as it central motif. It is pink at the outer sides which blend to an off white interior. Much of the gold rim has worn away over time but it remains an adorable display plate. The back has a complicated marking which includes a winged angel and the words"victoria" Austria" and"Lisboa" The plate is 8 1/2" in diameter. Please don't hesitate to email me with questions. Antique China Footed Compote / Cake Plate Hand Painted Girl Portrait Gold Trim
This beautiful antique footed compote or cake plate shows no manufacturers make or mark. The top of the dish is hand painted with a very detailed portrait of a young girl wearing a mop cap and yellow dress. Certainly Victorian in age. The dish comes in a fine white bone china with a heavy gold trim in scalloped design. The pedestal is also beautifully decorated with elegant gols embelishments. Generally it is in great condition with no major damage. However where the pedestal is attached to the plate underneath there has been a slight repair right at the joint and a faint hairline to the pedestal(see photo) The pedestal is attached with a threaded bolt into the underside of the plate. This of course cannot be seen from the top. The portrait is signed but I am not able to make out the name totally? It measures just under 9-1/2" in dia. ... morex 5-1/4" tall. DATED 85" TAKEN FROM THE INTERNET: Obituary of Esther Werner-Malpert. Esther Marie Dora Kahle was born at her grandparents. John and Mary Kahle, farm home at Oxford, NE on Sept. 19, 1913. Her parents were Edward and Minnie(Hinze) Kahle. Esther was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church in Oxford. The following spring the family moved to a farm near Deshler NE. Esther attended Dist. 69 southeast of Deshler when she was in first grade. Her teacher was Bertha Grupe. Later the family moved six miles south of Deshler and Esther attended Dist. 84 country school. She was confirmed May 29, 1929 by Pastor Chochler. Her confirmation class of 29 still holds the record for the largest class ... moreconfirmed at St. Peters in Deshler. Esther was active in 4-H and won blue ribbons at the state fair in style revue and a sewing demonstration. She was later a 4-H leader for many years. One of her memories is cultivating corn with horses. She did other field work plus milking, canning and butchering. Esther attended high school at the Hebron Academy 1927-1931and took normal training. After her graduation she taught in country schools three years before being married. Albert Werner and Esther Kahle were married February 14, 1935 at Peace Lutheran Church by Rev. Ernest Kahle, Esther’s uncle from Ohio. They moved to a farm southeast of Deshler were her children were born. Janet was born in 1938 and Ronald in 1941. In 1943 they moved to the Richard Werner home place, living there until retiring to Deshler. Esther was active in Peace Ladies Aid, later ALCW and Women of the ELCA. She taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and served on the Church Council at Peace Lutheran in Deshler. Esther belonged to the extension club and was a 4-H leader for 10 years. The white background has a ripple effect with faded gold etching. It has five pale turquoise wells and a center small well etched in gold. It has a slightly scalloped edge. Eight inch circumference. There is a very tiny chip on the inner edge which can't be seen because of the white ripple glaze- only felt if you put your finger around the edge looking for chips.

The tray is in very good antique condition- no chips. Cracks, or crazing. There is a tiny amount of paint loss from age. Additionally, in one of the pics, it appears there is a scratch on one of the roses. On close inspection, this is actually a dark area where the transfer folded a tiny bit on itself during fabrication and part of the original piece- could be considered a factory flaw. For your consideration is a beautiful set of Arts and Crafts hand painted porcelain plates. The large 12 1/2" diameter platter is by P.H Leonard. Circa 1890-1908. The P.H. Leonard firm was based in New York City. It imported porcelain from Limoges during the 1890s until the years of World War 1. In 1908 P.H. Leonard sold his company to Bawo&Dotter Limoges. This platter is from Vienna Austria. These pieces are adorned with Blue. Pale and dark Green and loads of Gilt. The 5 desert or sandwich plates measure 8 1/2" in diameter and are marked Bavaria. These items are almost in mint condition. There is a slight bit of wear to the gilt around the edges but there is NO CHIPS, CRACKS or REPAIRS.
