This is a beautiful classic Limoges plate. Completely hand painted and signed on the front with the name of the well known Limoges artist KOCH. The piece bears the mark of FLAMBEAU CHINA. With HAND PAINTED written on it. Dating the piece ca. 1890 to early 1900. The plate is in excellent condition. Looking like new, with no chips, cracks nor discolorations. It is 8 1/4" in diameter and it is decorated with cheerful colors and sponged gold on the embossed and scalloped border. A great collector's piece that has been treasured for more than 100 years. This is a beautiful plate marked LIMOGES FRANCE(LATRILLE FRERES.Mark 1, ca. 1899-1913) And OLD ABBEY LIMOGES HAND PAINTED, that tells us the name of the decorating company. The plate has the signature of the well known Limoges artist MAX. It depicts pretty red tulips on a green and peach background. The edge is gilded. The piece is 8 1/2" diameter and it is in very good condition. The only fault I can find is a little smudge in the paint under the glaze(see picture 4. Please see my other items. Wedgwood Brown Transferware Plate - Ferrara Pattern - 9 1/4" Diameter
Beautiful brown and white transferware plate. Made in the mid-1830s to 1840s by Wedgwood, in near mint condition. The pattern is called"Ferrara" featuring a border of finely detailed blooms surrounding a picture of sailing ships in port. The engraving is so fine you can make out faces on some of the people on board. On the back of the plate is the"Wedgwood" impress mark and a double"K" mark. There is a very. Very slight indication on the bottom rim of wear so I doubt this plate was used much. It's free of any chips or cracks. The diameter is 9 1/4" and it stands 3/4" tall, from bottom to rim. 6.5" handpainted plate with pink wild roses. Gold trim(my photos make the roses look washed-out, which they aren't) Signed G. B. Back is stamped with the Stouffer mark(Stouffers Hand Painted China) J. H. Stouffer Company of Chicago( a rival of the Pickard Company) My book of stamps does not show this exact Stouffer stamp, but since there are 17 different ones showing for his company, it wouldn't surprise me if there were an 18th one used for a short time. The painter G.B. is listed as a Stouffer painter, name unkown. I believe this mark may have been used between 1906- 1914, because there is a similar one(Hand Stouffer Painted) also in red ink used during that period. Plate is over 100 years old made in France by Bordois& Bloch which became the famous Paris factory known as Porcelaine de Paris. In 1867 Bloch and Bourdois brought the Rue de la Pierre-Levee works and Bloch changed the name to Porcelaine de Paris. The beautiful plate is detailed with dark blue and decorated with heavy encrusted embossed gold. The center of the plate is handpainted. The plate is in excellent condition. No chips or cracks.

Stunning 1800's Antique Capodimonte Hand Painted Cherubs & Instruments Plate!
This is a beautiful. Antique Capodimonte hand painted plate featuring a raised relief of singing cherubs with a cherub band accompanying them in the center. The design along the edge is also raised and everything is hand painted. The border is scalloped with pencil sized decorative holes around the rim. The colors are lovely and subtle but somewhat washed out by the flash of the camera. The plate measures approximately 9 5/8 across and is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. It is marked on the back with the crown N mark, under the glaze, which after some research I've found is The Ginori Capodimonte mark dating from 1830-1890. It weighs about 2 lbs. and due to new size restrictions of the USPS it will probably have to go via Fed-Ex to keep the shipping costs down. This plate and another one. Very much like it(but seeming a ... moretad older) are from a recent estate sale and are new to market. All pieces are French and could be termed Paris Porcelain. The pieces range in date from the Early- Mid 1800's. The plate with the maker's mark painted over by a flower seems to be Luneville, but it is impossible to be sure. The Luneville plate has a beautiful hand painted farm scene and gilt rim(See Pictures) The other plate is tin glaze faience and has a great hand painted floral design(See Pictures) The pair of lidded sugars are lovely. This English ironstone aesthetic plate from the first half of the 19th Century is in very good condition- there are no chips or cracks. The black or very dark brown transfer pattern is called"Patras" It was made by Wood& Challinor W. C. H(Hanley? England 1828- 1843. The 12-sided plate is 8 1/2" in diameter. There are scrolls and cartouches with scenes of buildings. Trees and people in a boat on the rim of the plate. Painted with three large cherubs floating in a circle with various flowers and banners. With a gilt border encompassed. With a lime green larger border and finished with an outer gilt ring. Antique English Creamware Ceramic enamel floral decorated pottery plate c1790
English Creamware purple monochrome enamel decorated feather-edge pottery square shaped serving dish. The enameling on the molded shell-edge is feathered carefully into the grooves. This dish is decorated in the manner of James Bakewell. An enameler who worked for Wedgwood from 1769-1777. Bakewell's signature decoration was of flowers painted in a very relaxed and flowing style in either the rose-purple monochrome or yellow and black enamel colors. He did sign some of his work with either a"JB" or a"B" painted in overglaze purple on the bottom. This dish is unmarked and we date it to c1790. It measures 10 inches long and is 7 1/2 inches wide. You can see a very similar dish on page 33 of Robin Reilly's book, Wedgwood The New Illustrated Dictionary. That one, however, is signed with a"JB. CONDITION: Restoration ... moreto glaze wear on the rim A LITTLE BACKGROUND: While cream-colored earthenware first appeared in Staffordshire sometime between 1730-1740. Production later spread to Derbyshire and Yorkshire and then to Europe. In the 1760s Josiah Wedgwood proved his genius for developing a superior material from a standard formula. After much experimentation with the addition of cornish Clay and China Stone, he is credited for literally"inventing" a new ceramic body. At first the Wedgwood version was known as Queens Ware but as other competitors joined the hunt the material became known generically as Creamware. This auction is for a matching set of 4 Old Ironstone Polychrome Mulberry Transferware Plates. I am not certain of the exact maker but I believe they date to the late 1800s. They are each marked on the back"Marone Dresden Flowers" and with the number 1955. Which is clearly a pattern number and not a year. These plates are very rare and are especially hard to find in this quantity. If you can find them. It is typically one plate at a time. They measure 8 inches across and each have 12 sides. I believe they would be considered lunch plates. There are no chips or cracks in any of the plates. All the plates have fine. Even crazing as is expected from ironstone of this era. One plate is in very good condition without any discoloration. One plate has some discoloration on the back only. One plate has moderate discoloration on the front ... moreand back. One plate has considerable discoloration. The base transfer images of flowers are in Mulberry or a soft purple. Each plate has splashes of colors- yellow. Red, blue and green- that are hand applied to the under glaze. The hand detailing gives an individual feel to each plate. Although they are from the same pattern and set. I'm unsure of who exactly made this, although it feels like some marked Derby pieces I have. Please excuse the reflections in the pictures. I have several pieces of early English porcelain for sale this week, the last picture shows them all together- this listing is for the featured piece only! SIZE: The dish is just under 7.25 inches diameter. CONDITION: There is a flea bite on the back of the rim- the pen is pointing to it in the close up picture. Early Waechtersbach SteinGut Kermik, Royal Blue Ceramic Platter
This platter is an outstanding example of early W ae chtersbach ceramic ware. The blue flowers are quite unusual for this manufacturer. The platter is dated Dec 24. 08, which will be 1908. It is in very good shape, with just some age related crazing on the bottom and some wear to the glazing around part of the rim. It is very decorative and a good example of early German ceramic art. This platter by the way would fit very well with the more traditional red ceramics from this maker. Measurements is 12 ¾” diameter and 1” high at the rim.
