Beautiful delicate wall plate hand painted with a loving 18th century couple. Surrounded by flowers, gold edged paint, and a delicate lacy inside edge. There is a small chip on the hanger hole but does not interfere with it's ability to hang. It has a/603 imprinted on the back. it is 6 5/8" I am trying my best to describe this item. I can only find information on The Ovington Brothers Company which started in 1845 by Theodore and Edward. So I am not sure how old the plate is I am guessing. The plate I inherited from a very wealthy[oil] family from Ft. Worth Texas and am pretty sure it is a fine piece as that was very important to them. Stoneware which has had salt thrown in the kiln at a very high temperature. The volatized salt combines with the mineral elements of the clay leaving a thin coating. Plus a creamer and sugar bowl. All the pieces have embossed rims and handles as well as an animal print. As in photo#4 the teapot lid has a single visible chip on the edge. It has 2 other little chips that are on the underneath edge only visible with the lid is off and turned upside down. There are no other chips, cracks or breaks on any of the other pieces. The lid fits both the teapot and sugar bowl. The teapot is 2.75" tall-not counting lid and 6.5" long from lion tail handle to tip of lion nose spout. It have 3 blue chip stamps inside and dont know how it got there, probably like that when I bought it over 30 years ago. It's 9" wide from the spout to the handle and 5 3/4" high. In a New York collection for over 35 years. The cylindrical stand which supports the teapot was meant to contain a small candle to keep the pot warm. The name veilleuse comes from the French for“nightlight” because the main lithophane cylinder glows when the candle is lit. In the early years. It was used on the bedside table to keep the top teapot warm before retiring. The light remained for a few hours serving as a bedroom nightlight. I know very little about this cocoa set. Other than what my Mom has told me. It belonged to my Grandparents and I'm pretty sure they brought it back from Japan in the late 40's early 50"s when my Grandfather was stationed over there. I know it's at least 50 years old, and probably older than that. The cups are really thin(like paper) but have no chips or cracks. Amazing for the age! Actually none of the pieces are chipped or cracked. The cups have a stamp on the bottom that states. Made in Japan" The Cocoa Pot states"hand painted" on the bottom. It is a fully matched set. This C. Tielsch Altwasser antique teapot bears a mark that places it between 1870 and 1900. There is wear to the gold gilt. But otherwise the condition of this teapot is excellent with no damage of any kind. The teapot is about 9-3/4 inches measured from the handle to the tip of the spout, about 8-3/4 inches tall, and about 7 inches at its widest. I have a matching coffee pot, pitcher and covered sugar bowl.

Manufactured by Villeroy& Boch between 1874- 1909. This pattern is called Kioto. The tea pot measures 4 5/8" from bottom to top handle of the lid and 11" from spout to handle. The only flaw I can find. Is a tiny nick to the front spout(it's like a flat glaze chip, more an abrasion) barely visible, more by touch(2nd photo, which doesn't really show- it is so small and doesn't affect the integrity of the tea pot) Keep in mind. Antique and vintage items by their very nature are used items and will show signs of normal wear due to age and use.
