Contemporary Abstract Bronze Lady Sculpture in the style of Botero - 33cm High
Wonderful contemporary bronze sculpture of a naked lady in an acrobatic pose balancing on one hand measuring 33.5cm high. This figure of a woman with exaggerated proportions has a beautiful rich patination and stands on a solid black marble base. This sculpture reminds me of the work of Botero and is most likely inspired by his work. Please see my other listings for more similar abstract bronze works of art. Signed'Milo' Fernando Botero Angulo(born April 19. 1932 in Medellín, Antioquia) is a Colombian figurative artist, self-titled"the most Colombian of Colombian artists" early on, coming to prominence when he won the first prize at the Salón de Artistas Colombianos in 1959. His work includes still-lifes and landscapes. But Botero tends to primarily focus on situational portraiture. His paintings and sculptures ... moreare, on first examination, noted for their exaggerated proportions and the corpulence of the human and animal figures. Botero explains his use of these"large people" As they are often called by critics, or obese figures and forms thus: An artist is attracted to certain kinds of form without knowing why. You adopt a position intuitively; only later do you attempt to rationalize or even justify it. He is an abstract artist in the most fundamental sense of the word. Choosing what colors, shapes, and proportions to use based on intuitive aesthetic thinking. This being said, his works are informed by a Colombian upbringing and social commentary is woven throughout his work. Botero was born in Medellín. Colombia, where the Catholic church adopted the Baroque style. Throughout his childhood, Botero was isolated from traditional art presented in museums and other cultural institutes. At age 4, his father died. At the age of 16, Botero published his first illustration in the Colombian newspaper El Colombiano and used the money he received to pay for his high school education at the Liceo de Marinilla de Antioquia. In 1952, he traveled to Bogotá, where he had personal
Bronze Sculpture on Solid Marble Base - 'The Thinker' by Auguste Rodin
Wonderful quality bronze sculpture of Rodin's'The Thinker' Although bearing his signature this is obviously not an original of Rodin's work but a later reimagining. The Bronze is truly exceptional quality. Please study the many photos to see the depth of the detailing and the crispness of the casting. This is a genuine hot cast bronze on a solid marble base, do not confuse this with cheap'cold cast' copies. Height 17cm. The Thinker(French: Le Penseur) is a bronze and marble sculpture by Auguste Rodin held in the Musée Rodin in Paris. It depicts a man in sober meditation battling with a powerful internal struggle. It is often used to represent philosophy. Originally named The Poet. The piece was part of a commission by the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris to create a monumental portal to act as the door ... moreof the museum. Rodin based his theme on The Divine Comedy of Dante and entitled the portal The Gates of Hell. Each of the statues in the piece represented one of the main characters in the epic poem. The Thinker was originally meant to depict Dante in front of the Gates of Hell, pondering his great poem. In the final sculpture, a miniature of the statue sits atop the gates, pondering the hellish fate of those beneath him. The sculpture is nude, as Rodin wanted a heroic figure in the tradition of Michelangelo, to represent intellect as well as poetry. Rodin made a first small plaster version around 1880. The first large-scale bronze cast was finished in 1902. But not presented to the public until 1904. It became the property of the city of Paris– thanks to a subscription organized by Rodin admirers– and was put in front of the Panthéon in 1906. In 1922, it was moved to the Hôtel Biron, which was transformed into a Rodin Museum. SIGNED BRONZE SCULPTURE NUDE MALE ART LIMITED EDITION STATUE ON MARBLE
Untitled Document SIGNED BRONZE SCULPTURE NUDE MALE GAY ART STATUE Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 This impeccably rendered 100% bronze high quality reproduction will satisfy even the most serious of art collectors. The bronze sculpture is carved as a limited addition(numbered) with the utmost precision and attention to detail. It is situated on a stunning sea green rectangular marble base as a complimentary and distinguished finishing touch. Photographs do not serve justice to this larger than life museum quality piece. An art work of this quality and distinction is rare to find outside of museums or select high end galleries. An original carving of this caliber would sell at upscale auctions for thousands of dollars. Here is your chance to bring a piece of history into your abode. About the original artist/ sculpture ... moreThe stunning bronze reproduction is modeled after the original by Victor Rousseau(1865-1954. Belgian) Rousseau descended from a line of stonemasons. He began carving stone at age 11 and later apprenticed under sculptor George Hanstout. Later he took classes at the Academie Royale des Beaux-Arts in Brussels and even served as a professor from 1901-1919. Finally he earned the title of the director of the school from 1919-1922 and then again from 1931-1935. This intricately detailed bronze rendition of a nude male leaning against a wall mimics a sculpture carved out of stone as may be observed by the chiseled indents of the backdrop as well as the man’s nude form. The gentleman is in no way bashful of his nudity and presents himself with a classy demeanor. He appears lost in contemplation as may be evidenced by the crinkled brow lines and preoccupied eyes. The complex carvings of this statue transcend it into a truly distinguished piece of art and clearly reflect Rousseau’s signature style. 100% bronze hot cast by lost wax method guaranteed. Statue is signed and has a foundry stamp. Statue dimensions: Statue Height: 18.5" Statue Width: 13" Depth: 8.25” Shipping weight:

The Greater Kudu. One of the most graceful of the tragelaphine antelopes, is a woodland antelope found throughout eastern and southern Africa. The Greater Kudus move in a bachelor herd, which can consist of 4 to 8 young males, through the thickets of the plains of Africa in search of food or a herd of females. The males can be distinguished from their female counterparts due to their larger size, horns that make 2.5- 3 graceful twists and the large manes running ... morealong their throats. They move in silence and heightened awareness on the plains, in the dawn, of Africa's Eden. They rarely leave the security of the thick bush-veld, rocky hillsides and dry riverbeds unless for the search of food, to avoid becoming prey to their predators. Predators of the greater kudu generally consist of lions, leopards, hunting dogs and unfortunately, humans. These beautifully shaped horns have long been prized in Africa for use as musical instruments, honey containers and symbolic ritual objects. In many cultures, the horns are thought to be the dwelling places of powerful spirits and in others are a symbol for male potency. This is an exquisite piece bringing to life the African kingdom. The Rubber Mold First the artist creates an original sculpture out of any number of media. Including stone, wax, clay, wood and pottery. This image is coated with a silicone rubber molding material that makes two rubber mold halves(each rubber mold has a front and a back piece) A fiberglass outer shell is added to the back of each mold so it retains its shape and rigidity during subsequent uses. These molds are the only components that are ever re-used in the casting process. All other components are re-created for each casting. The Wax Positive Once the molds are done. You can see in the close-up photograph that this large strong Oni is powerless against a single Bumble Bee, which is about to sting him in a sensitive place. Many of the features on this bronze were added after it was cast. The tiny spots you see were added to depict the Oni’s skin. These are not casting flaws. The hair and facial features have been hand carved and the small Bee is attached and constructed from copper with tiny gold wings. This antique Japanese Bronze was constructed so you can place the Oni in many different positions, almost like he is tumbling, while trying to get at the Bee. The Art of Lost Wax Lost wax casting has been around for thousands of years. Yet few people understand how the process actually works. Although ... moremechanization has facilitated the lost wax process of bronze casting. The procedure is basically the same as that used by the Chinese when they first developed the process in the 2nd millennium BC. The insides are coated with layers of wax. The halves are then bound together and wax poured inside to complete the wax image being created. Once the wax has cooled. The mold is peeled away, yielding a wax image(the wax positive" duplicating the original sculpture. This image must then be"touched-up" to remove any seam lines. Here Artist original clay sculpture is nearly ready for the foundry. Note the artist ... moreis still adding the finishing touches. Most sculptors prefer to work with clay or wax; some however. Do use wood and other mediums. Here the finished original clay is now complete. The sculptor will take it to the foundry now, get a bid then begin the first stages of the lost wax process. The first step can be shocking for some as they begin to decide how this original will be cut up. In order to prepare the original clay sculpture for molding. It will be dissected by cutting the clay with wire and by cutting the armature with a saw. The armature is what helped support the clay in place while the artist was creating it. Note the registration marks which later in the process will serve to realign the parts. Shown here are the sections of the original clay sculpture after having been dissected. Now the various parts of the original are carefully mounted on clay plugs before the rubber mold material is applied. The clay plug later serves as a pour spout for the mold. As you can see now they begin painting the latex rubber onto the original together with the clay plus that's been added in layers.
