This antique bronze turtle measures 5 1/2 inches long. 3 1/4 inches wide, and 2 1/2 inches high. We could not find a signature but believe that it dates from the 19th century. The body is hollow and we can hear a shard of metal rattling around inside. The legs, head and tail were all parts applied to the body. This item is in excellent condition; no dents, breaks, or other damage. The patina appears to be original. We could not find a maker's mark. We do not know the maker or the place of origin. It weighs 14.4 ounces.

Silver bronzes were made from a silver bronze alloy where silver is substituted for zinc in the alloy mix. Resulting in this unique silver colored metal. The early bronze sculptures made in Java were highly inspired by bronzes brought to Java by early traders from southern India. During the Majapahit Dynasty. Hinduism and Buddhism merged and they were each equally practiced. In this masterpiece rendering of Lord Siva. It is in fabulous condition with no problems that I can see anywhere except the wooden base has one very minor scratch and a few light dings to it. I am sure with the right wood scratch cover up these can easily fixed! They are bar ley noticeable now. Unless you are looking for them(I will show th is in pictures#9 to the left of the gold plate are the dings and#10 on the right side on top of the base is the scratch) There are no chips. This is a lovely. Art Deco(or perhaps a bit earlier) circus elephant sculpture on a marble plinth. The piece is@ 8" at i ts longest) X 6.5" It is@ 3" wide. The elephant is cast f either brass or bronze. There is a warm yellow-brown coming through at a few high spots where the glaze has subtlely worn. T he glaze is a thick semi-matte(almost a turn of the century pottery glaze) The marble plinth is gray-black with golden veins. I presume that this is an homage to a circus elephant. Due to the fact that it stra ddles a small r homboid platform. It appears poised to climb up and balance on a foot.
