It's vivacity mummified for ages. It is interesting that the lion is considered by many ancient cultures to be a solar animal symbol, however it is primarily a nocturnal creature, conducting its hunting activity mostly at night. The handmade bronze sculpture was cast using the age-old method of lost-wax casting and stained with a brown patina finish for perpetuation. Here Artist original clay sculpture is nearly ready for the foundry. Note the artist is still adding the finishing touches. Most sculptors prefer to work with clay or wax; some however. Do use wood and other mediums. Here the finished original clay is now complete. The sculptor will take it to the foundry now, get a bid then begin the first stages of the lost wax process. The first step can be shocking for some as they begin to decide how this original will be cut up. In order to prepare the original clay sculpture for molding. It will be dissected by cutting the clay with wire and by cutting the armature with a saw. The armature is what helped support the clay in place while the artist was creating it. Note the registration marks which later in the process will serve to realign the parts. Shown here are the sections of the original clay sculpture after having been dissected. This is a vintage dragon figurine in its original cushioned box. It is a deep burgundy in color and appears to be made of some type or resin or composite. It is absolutely gorgeous with its wonderful detail in the scales. The talon, and all over. It is free standing and actually appears to be racing toward some destination. It is approx. 4" long x 2 1/2" tall and approx. 3/4" thick at thickest point. The talons on one foreleg appear to be holding a round object. The box has Oriental writing on it along with"Lucky Lion. There is also a sticker on the box with what looks like 12825 or A825. It is in like-new condition; I used the term"vintage" because I've had it awhile.

This is what my Great Uncle Bob(boo boo) says is a seal carving he recieved from his guide in the 1940's- 1950's during a fishing trip in Alaska for Arctic Char. I do know it's been hanging around for quite a while and has some age. It is hand made for sure and the spots were put on by hand since each is different. In any case it's got good age to it and would look really good in someone's home.
