The images mirror each other so this ... moreis a true pair and the lamps feature two different views. On one side is a striped awning, draped pavilion with tiled floor. It's a party with elegantly dressed and coifed Lords and Ladies conversing while servants offer refreshment. On the opposing side is a lovely longtailed songbird in a rose thicket surrounded by butterflies. Both scenes are topped by raised golden lizards with long tails. The handles are green opposing or"kissing kitties" The"walls" dividing the scenes feature 2 pairs of scaled google eyed coy fish and abundant flora decoration. The surface of the lamps has a wonderful slightly raised texture where the paints were applied. The photos do not do proper justice to these fabulous lamps! They are large. Measuring 16 1/2" to the top of the vase and 9" wide. The mounts are antique brass and the bases are footed chinese wood stands in dark brown. I have just replaced sockets in both lamps and they function beautifully. The shades shown are not included in this auction but if you want them, I will include them in a separate box for an additional $100.00 plus shipping. In my opinion, these lamps really should have large custom made tall drum shades. This pair was purchased from a wealthy estate in South Beach about 10 years ago and are VERY FINE. I do not know the exact age and I am not going to take them apart to see the markings on the bottom of the vases. Ebay limits the number of photos to 12. Discovered on December 8th, 1949 two kilometers south of Panagjurischte in central Bulgaria. The gold treasure consists of nine vessels of pure gold and has a total weight of 6.164 kg. The gold vessels belonged to an unknown ruler from the Thracian tribe of the Odrysians and were used for religious ceremonies, sometime between the end of the 4 Century to the beginning of the 3rd Century BC. crucible and couples antique 1849 gold rush
These crucibles and couples are from the 1849 California gold rush. They were found behind the assay office in Mokolumny Hill Calif. This town has been flooded and has become a lake. One of the crucibles is stamped by the maker. The conditon is excellent. There are a few minor chips on the crucible from use.
