The western number on the bottom didn't become common until around 1890's. It is a genuine piece possibly made during the reign of Empress Dowager, the true ruler at that time. She loved art design and sold a number of series of pieces. The standard script of the seal came back into vogue during the late 19th century and they were almost always written in red and the font style of the number would also place it in late 19th, early 20th century which might have indicated the correct size sagger for firing or match the correct fired lid(which also has number inside rim) to the base. A close look at the hand paint will support the fact that it was made in the old kiln's where paint did not come out even as with today's pieces.The piece is almost 15" tall with lid on, diameter of opening is 4" and 23" around widest part and weighs just under 5 lbs. Vintage drug store candy display jar measuring almost 13 1/2" to to the top of the lid and almost 6" diameter at the widest point. Both the lid and jar have a very slight purple tinge from age. Up for auction is a great vintage silverplate coffee canister. Dates to circa 1920s- 30s. Has a great look. Hammered exterior with cutwork and a blue glass lining. Comes with the original spoon which is marked"Silver Plated" and"Made In England" Canister is unmarked. In good vintage condition with normal signs of age and an old patina. This was for photographic development purposes, measuring approximately 12.4cm(4.9in) in height and 5.9cm(2.3in) in diameter at the base. Colt Firearms "Coltrock" Tree Trunk Humidor Called "The Jar"
Up for bid I have the rarely offered Colt Firearms"Coltrock" Tree Trunk Humidor Called"The Jar" Because of their size the were easily damaged and as they are not repairable most got discarded. This is only missing the Sponge Holder that attached to the lit screw. I am told the were made of either brass or nickel plated tin. There is no indication which was in this humidor. This has 2 cracks that run vertical but there is no movement or separation in them. I took most all the pictures out in the late day sunshine to get the best lighting but that did not show the cracks up very well. My camera flash showed them better. The only other flaws that are on this piece are a very tiny chip on one of the knob flower petals. It is so small that if I did not mention it you would probably miss seeing it. You can see it in the pictures ... more2& 3 below. Lastly there is a human hair size scratch on the lid. I took 4 pictures of the rim as that is usually the part that is always chipped. This one is excellent in that regard. It still has all its original feet as well. I think my pictures are pretty good so you can make an informed bid from them. Stunning GDA Haviland Limoges France Hand Painted Jar Bertha Smith Signed Deer I had the wonderful opportunity to meet and shop with another ebayer seller from out of town recently- a real catfish moment. Because we’ve talked for years, but never met! No surprises, just all fun and did we shop until we dropped! I have lots of very cool items for you that I will be listing all week. Enjoy! Here is an absolutely stunning piece of Limoges porcelain. The colors are fabulous- a deep mossy green accented with gold- and the proud proud buck looking forward on the lid. This is an antique porcelain jar. Marked on the bottom by the maker, GDA France, and signed by the artist, Bertha Smith. The Haviland China Company used the GDA mark in 1898. The jar measures 5 1/2" tall, is 5" at its widest, is 3 3/4" diameter at the mouth and 2 7/8" ... morediameter at the base. It weighs 1 1/4 lbs. I'm showing in photos 8 and 15 that there is a 1/8" by 1/16" shallow chip at the very bottom rim- you can barely see it when the jar is resting on the table, as you can see in photo 8. I have the jar turned upside down in photo 15 to see it from there. In photos 18& 19, I'm showing you that there is a small chip to the inside of the rim that sits in the jar- you can't see it with the lid on- only with the lid upside down. The chip is 1/2" long in total with a 1/4" divot in the center. No other issues. I normally wouldn't buy something if it has a chip, but the base on is so small and hard to see, and the lid- you don't see at all unless the lid is upside down. I thought it was just too pretty to pass up- this really is a beautiful old jar- more a piece of art, I think. Please ask if you have any questions. It makes a very good appearance. The lid has a chip on the inside rim as shown in the 2nd picture and the third picture shows some small inner rim nicks and roughness which happened due to use. None of the damage stands out.Especially with the lid on. Insurance is included in the shipping cost except that First Class International is not insured.

I didn't find this"jar" in any of my reference books but I did find a smaller but similar ribbed style piece in the Fire-King and More book called a ribbed"REFRIGERATOR STORAGE JAR FOR LEFT-OVERS" It has a different style"top" but then it is more of a bowl and this piece is more of a"jar" Anyway. This piece stands about 7 inches high with the lid on and about 5 1/2 inches with the lid off. The top of the jar portion is about 4 3/8 inches in diameter and the round base is about 3 1/8 inches in diameter. The Anchor Hocking logo(Anchor through an"H" is on the base as are the numbers"4" and"11" A portion of the circular lid extends well down into the jar. That portion runs straight down about 1/4 inch then has a"flange? AND a"plastic? sealing piece. I'm not ... moresure when this was produced but the"ribbed" piece mentioned above is in my Fire-King reference book so I'm"assuming" this piece to be of the Fire-King era. The glass is in good condition. I found no chips. Flakes, cracks or"bites" Check out my other items! NO nics, chips, flakes, hairlines nor repairs, only thing noted are very shallow surface scratches/rubs on the body, not going through to the clay and a thin glazing on a donut with a FACTORY glaze miss, which none of this detract from it its beauty. Not marked, but a sample can be found in"Collector's Encyclopedia of Bauer Pottery" on page#94. These smaller jars do not come up for auction very often.
