Art Deco Silver Plated Tea Service by James Deakin & Son Sheffield
This top quality silver plated tea service bears the mark of James Deakin and Sons of Sheffield for the years 1898-1935 but is unmistakably Art Deco in design. All three items have unusual integral moulded metal handles and are engraved around the top and bottom with three separate designs. There is some wear to the plate on both sides of the teapot. But none is apparent on the milk jug or sugar bowl. The teapot is 6.5 inches tall, the other two items are 3.5 inches tall. Up for auction is a classy art deco nouveau Community plate 12900 teapot in the Bird of Paradise pattern on both sides. Circa is 1923 and the pot has clean simple. Almost geometric lines. This was a difficult item to photograph due to so much glare so if you require more pictures please let me know. This Goebel Grotesque Green Deco Monkey Decanter has 4 matching Monkey Cups. The Cups show the Monkey winking. The Decanter measures approximately 10 3/4" The bottom shows the full bee in black ink and then there is an impressed mark with numbers and I am not sure of the numbers. The Cups are also marked with an impressed mark and are 2 3/4" tall. The paint is good and none of the pieces have any chips or cracks. Shipping includes insurance. Luminous Antique Art Deco Era '20s-'30s Faux Pearl Choker w/Silver Clasp
This is a very beautiful. High quality, antique faux pearl single-strand choker with graduated beads. The color is a deep cream, and the beads have great luminosity. This necklace falls at or just below the hollow of the throat(depending on the circumference of your neck) The beads are a nice size, very elegant, not clunky. It fastens with a hook and slide closure of silver(unsure if it's sterling or silverplate, but there are no markings) and the geometric Art Deco motifs of the clasp date this to probably the 1920s or 1930s. It's not that easy to find true antique faux pearl necklaces anymore, and this is a beautiful example of one. It also looks great in a vignette along with other pretties! This is two-toned in color-I imagine it's silver and gold plated. What's exceptional about it is the ornate pierced pattern going all the way around the cuff, and the cool domed and ribbed"faux garnet" centerpiece with a channel of paste crystals going down the center. The top centerpiece with the red glass is hinged. And the hidden closure hook is on one side. There is something about this design that causes it to be patented. Each piece of this delicately crafted set has an eye-catching guilloche enamel pattern in this rare Art Deco copper colour. Which radiates like a sunrise. This is an effect that a skilled craftsman achieves by finely engraving the metal underneath the enamel and then decorating it with a thin layer of guilloche enamel. In addition. The larger pieces of mirror, hairbrush and clothes ... morebrush have a lovely black enamel setting on the handles along with finials on the ends all in the Art Deco style– please see the photos for the detail. The silver metal is probably chrome plated. The brown leather suitcase and copper-coloured guilloche enamel pieces are complemented by a satin-lined brown interior. Which has the same radiating waves pattern of the guilloche enamel. There are pockets on each side and attachment straps also in brown leather with press studs to hold the pieces in place. The larger pieces are mounted on the satin lined interior. The set consists of: a mirror; a hairbrush; a clothes brush; a comb; four bottles and three manicure pieces. One small manicure piece is missing. The case has two lock fastenings but no keys– although these should be easy to replace. It carries the initials lightly stamped and painted of gothic letters AMB– these should be easy to remove. MEASUREMENTS: The suitcase is 45cm in length; 31cm in width and 15cm in depth. It is large for a vanity or dressing/grooming set and is the size of a weekend suitcase. It appears to be made out of bronze and stained glass but I can't tell for sure. I found it at an estate sale full of nice pieces and assume it is original. This frame measures 8.25" wide x 6.5" tall. The hole for the clock measures 2-3/8" wide and 5/8" deep. I forgot to take a picture of the bottom but will do that tomorrow. It is not marked anywhere that I can see. The bottom is covered with felt. I removed enough of it to reveal a series of 5 holes. Each is covered with a kind of"plug" which I was unable to remove.
