7'2" x 9'7" Antique Persian Bakhtiari Oriental Rug - 1930s - Hand Made - 100% Wool This gorgeous Oriental rug is an 7'2" x 9'7" Persian Bakthiari, circa ... more1930s. This hand knotted Bakhtiari is made with 100% wool and is in good condition. The Bakhtiari tribe are one of the oldest and most famous tribes in Persia. Their villages are situated to the south-east of Isfahan and have been weaving rugs for export since the early 19th century. This beautiful Oriental rug is an antique oval 3' x 5' Chinese Art Deco, circa 1930s. This hand knotted Chinese rug is made with 100% wool, has a full ... morepile and is in perfect condition. This rug was recently professionally hand washed. Antique Chinese Rugs and Carpets as opposed to most of the antique rug productions were woven almost exclusively for internal consumption. Since they were mostly sheltered from European and western influences, this offers us the reason why these carpets have a very unique truly ethnically Chinese look and appeal. Only during the early part of the 19th century did they open their markets to the countries of the west (for rugs – they have been exporting porcelain, bronzes, wooden and other works of art for many years prior to the 19th century).

This beautiful rug is an antique 8'7” x 12'9” Persian Mahal, circa 1890s. This hand knotted rug has some low pile due to its age and was recently professionally ... morehand washed. The city of Sultanabad (now known as Arak) was founded in 1808 to become the major center of rug production in Persia. Sultanabad carpets are distinguished as the highest quality of Mahal productions manufactured in the Arak region. Other types of Sultanabad designs may include production from Mushkabad. Most similar to the Sultanabads are Heriz and Serapi rugs; this similarity being attributed to the magnificent graphic character of the designs. Yet within this similarity, the line work of the Heriz/Serapis is always more curvilinear and classical.
