1930's PEPSI COLA 6 Pack Crate Soda Pop Wood Carrying Case Asstd. Glass Bottles
Up for auction is this awesome display piece for that Pepsi Cola collector. This is a vintage 1930's. I believe in my research) wooden PEPSI-COLA bottle carrying case. This would have held 6 smaller Pepsi bottles. The case measures 11" in height and 8 1/2" in width and 5.75" Deep. Great color and graphics overall as seen in the photos. Minor Fading and wear of Bottles on sides and some dings throughout but overall in Great Condition for its age. The sides have a metal trim with nails all around both sides and a wood slat bottom. The front of both sides has the'Buy Pepsi Cola advertising and both sides have the picture of the bottle as shown. Has a nice handle in the center for carrying purposes and a wood divider between the two rows. A great advertising piece for the collector. Not many of the wooden ones like this ... moreleft. Also included are the 6 assorted vintage glass Pepsi bottles. I don't see any cracks or chips in any of the bottles. The color labels have some fading and wear on them. 5 of the bottles are 12 ounces. Are all Pepsi and all stand 9 3/4" 1 bottle is 11 1/4" tall and is Diet Pepsi-Cola. There are 2 bottles that look identical. They are clear glass and have etched glass on the upper half with Pepsi Cola running vertically up the bottles. One of these bottles is marked on the bottom Dossin's Toledo Ohio US Pat 120.277 and a date of 9 14 A 46. The other bottle is marked with the same patent number with a DES before it. It has the Anchor Hocking symbol in the center and 14B41 20. They are both 9 3/4" tall. There is a red and white painted label bottle. At the top near the neck it is painted 2 Full Glasses. This bottle is marked on the bottom: DES Pat 120.277: 16A48, Duraglass C956. Then there are 2 more bottles which look the same with painted on red. White and blue labels. In nice shape with a very slight bend on the back side, some buckling of the metal trim, but it's"all there" with all metal trim, wood, nails, staples and advertising surviving well. Handles look great, no wood missing, sits nice and flat. Everything legible, most of the word"brewing" is rubbed off on the same backside as the slight bend is on. Great natural wood knots and grain. The printing is“upside down” So you could quite literally turn it over and“get up on your soap box” though you might fall through, so I wouldn’t recommend it. I’d think a Toastmaster’s club. Or any other venue where speaking takes place would be very well served by this decorative item. Condition: The printed ends have a nice patina that is not marked up with scratches. Also. One side is cut from a board with two great-looking knots, along with the associated showy wood grain. The bottom boards are weaker than the sides. And as stated above, I would not try to stand on it. A narrow board is nailed on one of the non-printed sides. And it’s unclear whether it is needed for the box’s integrity. More likely ... moreit served some other purpose such as holding the box up on a shelf. It appears to be loosely attached now and likely could be removed. On the same side. There is a chip missing out of the end of one of the boards. I’ve found a 22X17X10 box and can bring shipping weight in just under 13 pounds. We found several of these old wooden boxes at a cranberry bog in West Central Wisconsin. The owners are the third generation to run the cranberry bog and were cleaning out the old harvesting shed. The owner said his grandfather used these boxes to carry the harvested cranberries from the bog to the sorter. This great box measures 21" long X 12" wide X 10 1/2" tall. The inside shows a little water stain and maybe an ink stain(or squashed grape stain) The box has a little dust look also. It is VERY durable& Strong. No weak sides or bottom. Nothing wiggles. Please look at the label. It has a very slight tear about 1/4" at the top. Nothing is missing. It could be repaired easily. Other than that. The entire label is pristine. Everything is original.
