Heintz arts and crafts sterling overlay inkwell or Sterling
Nice Heintz or Sterling Ink well with sterling overlay. The glass insert has a crack near the rim. But is stable. There is no bottom to piece, I don't know if that is the way it was designed, but you can't tell when sitting on the desk. The lid hinge is perfect, and the green mottled finish is un touched. I recently refinished the silver on a piece without touching the broze, it turned out nice, ask if you would like to know how.

Estate condition: No dents; dark mellow brown patina is quite good but soes have some uneven spots; some light scratching and estate grundge; appears to have been rewired but this needs to be checked for safety. There are two small dents in the base and a larger one in the side. Please see our photos below. The following five photos are of the two dents in the base or lowest part of the vase's side. The following three photos are all of the same dent in the side of the vase. Below is the photo of the small dent in the rim. This lovely Heintz Art Metal vase has the cylindrical form with rolled top or flange. It has a rather intricate Art Nouveau floral. Possibly iris, design that reminds us of some of the Tiffany windows. Otto Heintz patented his technique for applying sterling silver to his bronze pieces without any solder which is the 1912 patent date seen on much of his work. This vase measures a little more than 8 inches tall and it has a lovely mottled patina that will only get better with time. Consistent with Heintz numbering system, this vase has the production number 3591. Numbers between 3500 and 3800 were reserved for vases and single-weight bowls. I am definitely NOT knowledgeable about these items. I'll describe what I can and you'll have to view the photos and determine if the price is fair. The pair have some tarnish spots and are in uncleaned condition. I figured it was best to leave them and let an expert deal with the finish. One stick is marked#3093 and"pat appl for" The other stick is unmarked but definitely the mate. The"mate" has a small bend on one edge of the base and a spot on the"tulip" that is bright bronze. LARGE 10" (2 LB) HEINTZ BRONZE & STERLING SILVER PRE-PATENT ARTS & CRAFTS VASE
This listing is for a large Heintz sterling on bronze flared cylinder vase from. Most probably, the period between 1906 and 1912 when Heintz produced most of its unmarked pieces. Interestingly, though, as the last photo shows, the overlay is marked"sterling" Heintz also allowed its workers to make ware for themselves; and these, too, are unmarked. This was apparently a common practice during that era. As my great uncle worked at Tiffany in Corona, NY as a young man, and brought home unmarked bronze pieces for his parents) As you should be able to see from the pictures(despite my sometimes cockeyed photography) The vase is a large 10 inches high, 4 inches in diameter at the top, and weighs a hefty two pounds. To give you a better sense of size(as so many Heintz vases that appear large in eBay photos turn out to be very tiny pieces) ... moreI've shown it alongside a can of Coke. In the 2nd last photo you'll note that a can could be dropped right inside, easily. The vase has very nice clean lines- flaring smoothly and subtly at the base and rim- and it's in excellent condition with just one small'ding' at the lower left of the silver holly pattern. This is pretty insignificant and I wasn't really able to capture it in a photo. Over the years. The vase has been used for flowers and has acquired some mottling to the bronze and a bit of verdigris on the base. And, as the pictures will show, the sterling could use a better polishing- but being short on time I didn't want to rush and risk lightening the surrounding bronze. When I purchased it, the silver was very black, so I rub it periodically with a very soft cloth. In any case. It's a striking piece, so if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to e-mail. Is done in the classic organic style. with silver overlay on red bronze/copper. about 6.5” in diameter, there are the normal marks of age– some minor scratches– but there is no damage or repair work. CHUBBY HEINTZ DESIGN SILVER CREST BRONZE ARTS & CRAFTS HUMIDOR GRIFFEN / GRYPHON
This listing is for a very appealing. Fat Silver Crest bronze-on-bronze humidor c1915. While it borrows Heintz technique and style(and perhaps even the bronze blanks from that company) it substitutes a bronze overlay for sterling silver. No doubt. Originally, the design of griffons/gryphons was polished to a bright finish for contrast against the dark aged-bronze applied patina. Over time the cut-out pattern has tarnished, though, and while its edges show remnants of lighter/brighter finish, I didn't polish it in case the buyer might prefer to leave it as is. To give you a better sense of size and proportion(as so many Heintz& Silver Crest pieces that appear large in eBay photos turn out to be very tiny) I've shown it alongside the large 10" Heintz vase I listed earlier this week. While the humidor stands about 6 inches tall ... moreand measures 5-5 1/2 inches in diameter, it's a handful and weighs in at just about 1 1/2 pounds. What I found interesting(not being terribly familiar with humidors) is that the humidity for the stored cigars was maintained by moistening a clay/ceramic disk attached to the inner lid. You'll see that the owner is instructed to re-moisten the disk when it dries and the color lightens. In any case. It's a very nice piece and one that will undoubtedly complement an arts/crafts or Heintz& Silver Crest collection. Its condition is excellent with some slight scuffs to the surface from near 100 years' use, thought it's survived these years without dings, dents, or damage to the body, the interior, or the overlay. Although I'm in the process of downsizing. It seems I haven't totally broken the habit of pouncing on things I like. With that in mind, I'm hoping this neat humidor finds a great new home before it becomes yet another permanent part of mine: If you have any questions. Please don't hesitate to e-mail. Here is a great chance to own a piece of Denver. Colorado history at a geat price. SOME HISTORY CONCERNING HEINTZ ART METAL SHOP FROM THE ARTS AND CRAFTS COLLECTOR'S WEB SITE: Starting in 1903. A few years before the Roycrofters produced their first copper letter openers, Otto Heintz took over the Art Crafts Shop in Buffalo, changed its name to the Heintz Art Metal Shop and began producing an extensive line of vases, bowls, desk accessories, picture frames, jewelry, bookends and a limited number of monumental table lamps. Otto Heintz turned to the lathe rather than the hammer to produce his unique line of metalware. And rather than copper. His craftsmen attached pieces of bronze ... moreto the lathe and'spun' each form by pressing the thin bronze sheet against spinning forms with wooden mallets. they developed a variety of unique patinas, including Verde, a dark green finish favored by many Arts& Crafts collectors. Second, Heintz invented and patented a secret method of attaching decorative sterling silver overlay to each piece without the use of messy solder. The silver overlay is decidedly Arts& Crafts in the handcraftsmanship it required and the depiction of natural motifs, such as flowers, plants, leaves, birds and branches. The condition of the original patina is the most important aspect of any piece. Condition is everything and the loss or degradation of the patina severely affects its value. The majority of pieces were stamped or labeled with the initials H.A.M.S within a diamond along with the words STERLING ON BRONZE and PAT.AUG.27.12. The bottom is marked 3659 with the Heintz mark, then sterling on bronze, Pat. Aug 26'12. which I would assume is 1912) It stands about 6 1/4" tall and the base is about 2 1/2" in diameter. VINTAGE HEINTZ BRONZE DESK SET. Up for Auction is this great Heintz bronze with silver overlay desk set. This is in the Art Deco style. There are three peaces the Ink well-Pen Tray and Blotter. The ink well is 5 3/8" square and stands 2 1/2' tall there are no dents or dings in this the glass ink holder is intact and in working order. The pen tray is 10' long and 2 3/4" in the middle. The blotter is 5 1/2" long and 2 3/8" wide and has it's origional paper on it. I have only wiped the dust off and have not cleaned these in any fashion. Jack and Ralph M. Heintz formed Jack& Heintz. Ltd. in Palo Alto, California in 1940. In November of that year they moved their operations to Ohio, locating on Broadway Avenue on the line between Bedford and Maple Heights. The name was changed to Jack& Heintz, Inc Beginning with 56 employees in 1940. And adding 22 more by November, 1940, a total of 78 office and shop employees began the task of building an organization which soon gained local, and national attention. STERLING SILVER CATTAILS OVERLAY ON BRONZE VASE by HEINTZ- EXCELLENT CONDITION Signed& Numbered. This auction is for an Arts& Crafts Period Sterling Silver Overlay of Cattails on Bronze Vase. This vase is very outstanding and represents the period and style of the Arts and Crafts Movement to perfection. The Arts and Crafts Movement gave the world beautifully crafted decorative and usable art pieces at the beginning of the 20th century. One of these companies was the Heintz Art Metal Shop. Buffalo, New York. They produced many superb pieces of Bronze, Brass and Copper with Sterling Silver Overlay by process called sintering. This process consists of the sterling silver design being cut out and bonded to the bronze. The company flourished in business until 1929. This wonderful vase was made by the Heintz Art Shop and is marked HAMS ... morein a diamond shape mark, underneath the diamond mark are the words Sterling on Bronze, Pat. Aug. 27, 12. Consistent with Heintz numbering system, this vase has the production number 3581 E. Numbers between 3500 and 3800 were reserved for vases and single-weight bowls. This vase is 6" in height. The rim is 2 7/8" in diam. the circumference of the vase's body is 6 1/2" The condition of this vase is EXCELLENT. The patina is wonderful as are the sterling silver cattails, bright and beautiful. There is no wobble to this vase and it sits very steady as the bottom is perfect with no dents. The rim is ever so slightly out of round but I believe it has been that way since being manufactured as there are no dents, chips or damage to the rim what so ever and when you set it upside down it is steady. There are some small dark marks on the back of the vase towards the base(see photos) This is a beautiful piece for your collection!

Hi. Thanks for looking, please read the whole add and ask any questions if you have any. We have here a rare and hard to find HEINTZ ART METAL BRONZE and STERLING SILVER OVERLAY BOUDOIR LAMP that is decorated with a flowering poppy plant on the base and 3 different poppies on the pierced open work bronze metal shade. This is scrimmed with an off with cloth material, which is probably silk and perhaps original to the shade. With the lamp shade in place it is about 10' tall. The cone shaped shade is about 8 3/8' across the bottom and 2' across the top and 4.5' tall. The 3 open panels vary slightly and the silk is in place but it has degraded with age and can easily be replaced if wanted. The metal lamp base is mounted to a small fancy pierced 3 footed wooden base. The shade is supported by 3 arms which are attached to to the ... morebase. Both the shade and the base have their original speckle green and brown patina finish but the lamp socket was replaced a few decades ago when it was rewired for safety. This is in very good condition but NOT mint and we will give you a description as to condition. The metal on the shade is in excellent condition. No breaks or bad dings, dents or scratches. The patina is all original and in excellent condition with no repairs we could find. It is also complete with the metal rings which hold the cloth in place. Next is the shade support arms. They are in excellent condition as well with a few minor rubs here and there. The round base is in VG condition with a few minor shallow bumps and dings. The patina is in VG condition with a few minor rub here and there. The applied sterling silver decoration is in excellent condition. The wooden base is in excellent condition as well. This turns on with a twist knob/ switch which works perfectly and is attatched to the base as shown. This is from a SMOKE& PET FREE environment.
