The jug measures about 11" tall and it has a very unusual pinched handle design that I’ve never seen. Really nice piece and in excellent condition with no damage. Location: Utica, United States This vintage 2 gallon crock is from the Western Stoneware Company in Monmouth. Illinois. Western Stoneware was formed in 1906 after seven local companies ... moremerged. These companies were: Monmouth Pottery Company, Weir Pottery Company, Macomb Stoneware Company, D. Culbertson Stoneware Company, Clinton Stoneware Company, and Fort Dodge Stoneware. They directly competed with the famed Red Wing Union Stoneware Company of Red Wing, Minnesota. This crock has a Bristol(white) glaze on both the outside and inside. Both the company logo and the design on the opposite side are stenciled on. The maple leaf logo dates the piece to between 1906 and 1930. The stencil on the backside is a nice arrangement of different leaves. This is a nice piece of Americana that would look good in any collection. The crock is in very good shape considering it was originally purchased to be used. Not just for decoration. I have taken photos of three spots that show a little damage; two are along the bottom of the crock and one is on the side. These can be seen in pictures 9, 10, and 11. They are small and hardly noticed. The bottom of the crock on the inside is worn(as seen in picture#5) from being used over the years. The crock has no major cracks or chips. The crock is marked as a 2 gallon crock and measures approximately 9 1/4" tall and 9 1/4" across the top. If you have any questions. Please don’t hesitate to contact me. I believe these happened during manufacturing. 1 is about 1/4" or abit less and the others are the size of a pen tip. I do not see any cracks at all. What a show piece you will certainly want others to see. Patented Dec. 21, 1915. It is dated on the crock next to the left handle which is the patent date of the bail handles. Brothers James and William"Leet" Hamilton founded their pottery ... morecompany in 1850 and operated it until 1866 until it was sold to Leet's son and son-in-law. That said, considering the age of this canning crock, it is in amazing condition. There is one pretty good chip out of the inner wax-sealing lip and one very small hairline that runs down the front left just a couple inches. No other cracks, hairlines or otherwise. There are a couple of spots of paint on the back of it as you can see in the pictures and measures 8" tall x 4 1/4" in diameter at the top x 5 1/4" in diameter at the base. This shape is fantastic. Stoneware Three Gallon Salt Glaze Crock with Stenciled 3 and Wreath
For your consideration is a three gallon salt glaze crock made of stoneware. The only mark is a cobalt 3 surrounded by a cobalt wreath. The 3 and the wreath were applied with a stencil at the time of manufacturing. I do not know who manufactured this crock. This crock is 10 1/2" tall and the bottom is almost 10" in diameter. Close to the 3 is a very tight crow's foot. On the right side. Is a very tight crow's foot harline, the longest hairline is approximately 2" long. On the inside of the rim; almost directly above the 2nd described crow's foot, are some chips and a crack caused by me dropping a cast iron muffin pan on the rim; this damage is not visible on the exterior. Please, closely examine the pictures, as the pictures are part of the description.

Almost 7½ inches wide and 5 inches tall. This lovely butter crock is an unusual and very sweet color and design. It is almost perfect except for one small approximately ½ inch oval ding. This is underneath and as you can see, doesn't show from the front. A very nice stoneware crock.

The condition is nice with some areas of darkness from use. There is a tight hairlinr that extends approx. 2" into the base and approx. 3" up the side. There is a shallow 3/8" wide chip at the rim. Beautiful stoneware cake crock WITH lid. The cobalt is beautiful on this. 10 3/4" by 10 3/4" 6" tall This has had it's share of use and does have some issues. Chips. Some large, and a crack on one side going down onto the bottom of the crock and also running sideways off of it. See 4th pic. chips and thin tight cracks on lid. The lid was on this when I purchased this several years ago and I am assuming it is the original.it fits. Old metal wire band around crock apparently stabilizing it. Pottery canning jars usually had no handles but had a deep groove in the rim for the wax seal. The ware was dried in a steam-heated room. After which it was stenciled with cobalt oxide. The pots were marked‘A. P. Donaghho, or‘Excelsior Pottery’ on big pieces, and‘Parkersburg. Many were decorated with advertisements for retail establishments. When thoroughly dry, the ware was placed in a bottle kiln to be fired. Donaghho pottery was salt-glazed. With damp salt reacting in the hot kiln to produce a sodium aluminum silicate glaze.

As you like it is a cute old horse-radish(mustard) jar. it is 3-3/4" in heigth. The bottom is 2-5/8" in diameter. There must have been a top& wire closure. As the hole is there for one. It is missing. I always displayed it with my old mustard jars.most without tops, so it always looked pretty cute with it saying AS YOU LIKE IT. It has several small flake chips on the top and a bigger 1/2" chip on the base on the right side.not real noticeable topside. The base has some minor flake chips around the edges. STONEWARE BUTTER CHURN/CROCK WITH BLUE AMERICAN INDIAN HEAD # 4
This bisque colored crock has an American Indian Head surrounded by Americana stars with the number 4 imprinted in blue as shown in the photos. It shows some signs of age. Wear and tear, with two small cracks in the handle that appear to have been repaired. There is no lid; however, I think you could purchase a lid, if desired on this site. It has been use as a churn, a flower container, and stored unused. It weighs appproximately 15 pounds, and shipping cost will be based on actual cost, which can be discussed with the buyer via message prior to confirmation of purchase.
