The oyster plate has five wells and measures 8 1/2 inches across. It has two early marks of Charles F. Haviland. Decorated with gray and yellow flowers and heavy gold around the edge. No chips. Cracks or repairs. What appear as cracks on the underside of the plate occurred during manufacture and are glazed over. Please look closely at the pictures. I cannot get over how amazingly detailed and how gorgeous the colors are in this plate! It's just breathtaking when you look at it up close! This is a mid Century French Oyster Plate with 6 compartments it is in excellent condition with the main colors being yellow brown and orange. But PLEASE take a closer look at the edges and the sides. It reminds me of butterfly wings they're so elegant! There are no marks on it. Picasso highly influenced artists(including the one that made this) in this small French town when he lived there for a number of years(no wonder it's so amazing! Vintage Ironstone Wilkinson Oyster Plate
This vintage oyster plate is in very good vintage condition with no nicks. Cracks or crazing at all there is one small spot on the back that looks like some missing glaze but this is something that happen at the pottery.This piece would date somewhere between 1860's and 1968 not sure how to date it any closer then that.It measures 9 3/4' across and 1' tall the bottom base is 7' across there is a nice marking on the back that is very clear to see.The plate is decorated with different shells around all the dividers and has a very nice look to it in a off white or cream color.

~ UNION PORCELAIN WORKS 6 WELL OYSTER PLATE ~ PAT JAN. 4 1881 GREENPOINT. NEW YORK.with provenance First a little provenance on this plate as told to me by my husband. Greg. This plate was part of a set of 8 owned by his great-grandmother, Anna Mueller. When she died, the set was split between her two daughters who had lived with her in Boston. Anna moved to Denver in the twenties with her daughter Bertha(Greg's grandmother) who had one child, Greg's father) Louis. When Bertha died in 1967, her 4 plates went to him. Finally, when Greg's father died in 1979, the plates were split between Greg, his sister and two brothers. Greg is the only one of the 4 great grandchildren still to have his plate. But we are liquidating in our older years, and chose to pass it along to someone who will love it as much as his family has over these ... moremany years. U.P.W. Oyster Plates are not only fun but highly collectible. A merican porcelain. After all is much less common that its European counterparts which makes each American piece all the more valuable. If you are looking at this plate, you might already know the history of oyster plates in America, but if you don't, I offer my limited knowledge. The Union Porcelain Works company was based in Greenpoint. New York. They were one of the early manufacturers of fine quality porcelain in the United States Through my research, I have learned that this is one of the rarer of the oyster plates made by the Union Porcelain Works circa 1881. This larger size with 6 oyster shaped wells and 2 scallop shells for sauce are generally harder to find, and as I understand are more valuable than the smaller 4 oyster shell plates made by UPW. Each UPW oyster plate was hand painted and is very unique in its own right. This plate is in very good condition and shows no obvious wear to the paint, or the gilding which enhances both scallop shells and the outer bottom of the clam shell. Up for auction is a pretty Austrian Oyster plate with 5 oyster wells and an oyster-shaped center well. It is a pretty pink with hand-painted flowers. Much of the gold has rubbed away. But there is still some decorating the oyster shapes. Excellent condition-no chips or cracks. Marked 2237/776 on the back. Unusual square-shaped plate. Very pretty old oyster plate.
