Large 7" Antique French Petite Sonnerie Repeater Carriage Clock w/ Original Case
What you are looking at here is an absolutely gorgeous French Carriage Clock. This is a quarter hour chiming clock with the very rare Petite Sonnerie chime. The Chime works like this. It will chime on 2 coiled gongs, once at 1:15, twice at 1:30, three times at 1:45, and chimes on one gong for each hour on the hour. The clock features its original carrying case, which is an extremely rare find with these clocks, as most were destroyed, or forgotten over the years. It is also a Repeater, meaning that there is a small button at the top of the case that when depressed, will repeat the current time on the gongs. This is not you're every day carriage clock, this clock is much larger measuring almost 7 1/2" tall! Everything you see on this clock is 100% original and in perfect working order, the only flaw being slight chips to the top of ... morethe back piece of glass, as seen in pictures below. I also have the missing piece to the original strap handle for the case(Not Pictured) The original gilded finish appears to still be on the clock, and the case is as original as it gets. I have tested the clock to ensure the chimes are working, and it is keeping good time. I do not have the original key for the clock, but a replacement key is included that will wind it up just fine. Original replacements can be purchased on Ebay for around $30, I can direct the winning buyer to the correct key to purchase. Please look over all of the 51 pictures I have included below, as well as the video of the clock. I do try and describe everything as best as possible, but occasionally I do miss a thing or two. So please look over all the photo's to get a true feel for the condition and quality of this great clock! If you look at the pictures of the dial you can see remnants of a makers mark, or retailers mark, but I cannot make them out, just the work London. The cast iron case is 12" tall, 8 1/2" wide and 5 1/4" front to back. The outside diameter of the brass bezel is 3 7/8" diameter and the nice porcelain dial just under 3" diameter. I found this in an envelope labeled"antique French clock. I am not a clock expert. But after some research it does appear to belong to a French mantle clock. It is definately old and antique. The suspension rod including hanger measures approx. 5.25" It has an adjustment leveler in the center of the pendulum and also has a screw that can be tightened for desired length. This is without a doubt one of the rarest clocks if not THE rarest on eBay and definitely is the nicest exotic African rain forest wood French balloon mantle clock on eBay! It is from my own personal collection and is one of the nicer clocks in my collection. I have owned the clock for a while and now it is time for another very lucky person to own and enjoy it as I have. The clock was made in the 1850- 1899 era in Paris. France by the celebrated Master Clockmaker Hry Marc. Hry Marc clocks are rare because of their quality and scarceness and when you see one for sale that you just love it is the time to buy it! It is in true superb mint condtion and there are no issues with the clock I can find whatsoever. The wood this clock is made from is just gorgeous! It is African rain forest wood and it can no longer be acquired because the international ... morerules and regulations protecting the rain forests prohibit the removal of the wood from the rain forest where it still exists. Just look at the pictures which show the beautiful exotic grains of this wood. AMAZING! When someone sees this clock displayed in your home they will first comment on the beauty of the wood and then notice the quality of the clock. Anyone who knows anything about French clocks knows Hry Marc clocks are certainly prized possessions and this one in particular shows the mastery of Hry Marc! It has an 8 day French movement(of course with the Hry Marc name on the back plate) which runs and strikes flawlessly on it's original silver bell as long as you leave this clock alone and do not move it around from place to place. Antique French Eight-Day Time and Strike Clock Movement This movement was originally in a good quality inlaid wooden case that was badly deteriorated. Condition is excellent. The springs are good and both trains run freely, but a cleaning is recommended. It has a 4 1/2" metal dial(probably silver on brass) that is darkened with a convex beveled glass door. Both front and back doors are approx. 5 1/4" diameter. Pendulum length is approx. 7" from top of movement. The original pendulum has the same serial# as the movement. Country French Oak Sideboard Pewter Cupboard& Clock. An authentic Country French sideboard or pewter cupboard from about 1910 has a clock. Signed by the maker in Perpignan in the south of France. Carved of solid fine grained oak, the workmanship is outstanding. Drawers have hand cut dovetails, panels are raised, the crown is gracefully arched and there are grooves in the galleries for display. The original finish has been waxed and polished. It is very well preserved with warm antique patina. Just a wipe with a dry cloth will maintain its warm glow. The top of the base has been revarnished for stain resistance and durability. Brasses are original. Keys are handles only, the locks do not work except for the two clock doors, both with beveled glass. The"Morbier" clock has been professionally cleaned and oiled. It keeps excellent ... moretime. The 6 day movement is a double striker, the bell counts the hour twice in case one is not paying attention the first time. It also rings the half hour. The hand painted porcelain dial is signed by the maker, Gaspard Scheicher a(of) Perpignan, an ancient and lovely town in southern France near the Spanish frontier. The clock measures 4 3/8 inches or 12 cm tall not including the handle and 3 1/8" or 8.1 cm wide. The clock has a white full porcelain front. The dial has Roman numerals. The clock has a door at the back for access to the winding and setting arbors. This clock has it's original key with two different sides. One side of the key winds both the spring for the 8 day movement and the spring for the alarm The other side of the key sets the time and the alarm hands. The case is all brass and all four panels are glass beveled. There is also a rectangular beveled window on top. The works are signed on the back plate in script"J.F. ... morefor the maker Japy Freres. The case and glass are in very nice condition. The gold finish on the brass is original and unpolished. There is some darkening and wear to the finish. One glass side panel has a small and very minor flake on one corner of the panel on the inside very very minor. Small antique French brass carriage clock. Key. Numbered movement. Ex condition
SMALLER THAN USUAL. TOTALLY ORIGINAL, ANTIQUE(circa 1890) FRENCH BRASS CARRIAGE CLOCK* In the first picture the clock is shown alongside a standard size carriage clock for size comparison purposes: the clock for auction is the smaller one on the right. Smaller than the standard carriage clock. Height(with handle folded down) 4 inches(10 cms) Width 2 1/2 inches(6 cms) Depth 2 1/4 inches(5.5 cms) My interest for more than 30 years now has been the restoration of vintage clocks: I have tended to specialise in carriage clocks. In June this year. I spent many hours in my workshop carefully restoring this pretty little clock. It was in a sad state when I bought it at a local auction- working, but only just- and it was a real pleasure to bring it back to life. It will not now need servicing or oiling again for years. CASE: Solid cast brass in excellent ... morecondition with folding bale handle. All parts of the case including the solid cast brass top and base. Are stamped with the manufacturers matching batch number(36) showing the case to be completely original. The rear door opens and closes with pleasing precision- a sure sign that the clock hasn't had any accidents in the past! I dismantled the case completely to clean off the old tarnished lacquer. I didn't re-lacquer it but instead gave the finished polished brass a coat of special micro-crystalline wax to delay the tarnishing process(and to make light cleaning easier in future) The clock now looks much as it would have when it left the factory some 120 years ago: it has a beautiful antique patina. MOVEMENT: An 8-day single train high quality numbered movement(733) Beautifully engineered in brass and tempered steel. An extremely large main spring barrel is fitted between 3mm thick front and back plates- most unusual in a clock of this size. The back plate is engraved with the word"Hands" and the letters S(low) and F(ast) As with the case, I completely dismantled it, checked all pivots and bushes for wear then cleaned, polished and oiled them. Antique Vintage Painted Craftwood Miller French Period Wood Clock w/ Key
Hi. You are looking at a rare Craftwood Miller Clocks French Period clock that has been refurbished and painted. It has been precisely painted and I do not see any flaws in the painting. The front has been painted gold with a green clock face. The numbers and center are painted white and even the eyes at the top are painted red. The back is painted green and I believe the back plate has been painted a different color from the original as well. There is some damage to the maker's plate but it is all readable. There is a loss of paint to the back plate. There are what appear to be cracks throughout but they were simply by design for looks and do not go all the way through. The key winds up the clock properly but it sometimes needs a boost to start up. The minute hand is loose and needs adjusting often. It may need a replacement minute hand. ... moreIt has been wound up multiple times and it seems to function properly otherwise. The slow/fast function seems to work properly as well, though the plate has a large bend across the top so the lever does not fit through the slot properly. The screws in the plate are not original so they may not screw in properly. Great piece! I will combine shipping on multiple auctions by weight when possible. Ornate Rare Early 1800's Japy Freres French Figural Gilt Mantle Clock w Horse! Description. We think this French Gilt Figural Mantle Clock is an early and possibly important Japy Freres piece. When it was cleaned by local craftsman he found Japy Freres mark on the inside of the works. And he estimated 18th century origin. We are not clock experts. But the craftsman cleaning this clock has 50 years experience in the area. He also told us that he has never seen an example such as this one and it is safe to say early 1800's. See images for stamped numbers on backplate of works. Japy Freres is world renowned French clock makers and you can be proud to own this classic beauty which is sure to attract attention and increase in value over the years. Truly a one of a kind! Standing approximately 15 inches tall. 14 inches wide, and 6 inches ... moredeep, weighs in at 14.4 pounds. Gilding is mostly worn off, but persists in recessed areas. Porcelain face with Arabic numbers in excellent condition as is the domed glass. Ornate rustic or pastoral motifs seen: straw hatted boy leading horse along rustic fence line: draft horse still has his plowing yoke and harness on. Other harvest/symbols of plenty seen: tools, plowshare, basket. Condition very good. Excepting worn off gilding, but for a clock of over 200 years age, it can be expected. We see greening on inside, which we believe indicates bronze cast metal. Movement is in excellent working condition. 8 day strike on bell movement. There is apparently a single element missing from the tail side of horse. Where casting is pierced and must have had one more applied element. Tail of horse is as found, of unknown material. Extremely old hand cut nuts seen holding the mirror plates against the casting inside. These are old, old, old, irregular, black nuts only 1/16 or so thick, and obviously hand cut. French Vedette Westminster and Ava Maria chime clock French Art Deco Westminster and Ave Maria chime wall clock. Made around 1920-1930 in the Art Deco period. It is made out of nutwood and oakwood. Has lovely varved ornaments is the shape of grapes and vines on the front. It is a majestic looking clock. Due to its big size. The dimensions are: Height: 60cm Widht: 55cm There is a levelswitch for the two tunes. See the video presentation. It strikes on bar chimes. There are two sets of bar chimes. One for the tune and 1 for striking the hours. It strikes every 15 minutes with 1/4, 2/4, 3/4, 4/4 of the tune and full strikes at the hour. The tunes AND the strikes can be silenced by levers. Beautiful Rare Large 40cms High Antique French Boulle Clock. Japy Freres This is a beautiful Original Antique French Boulle Clock complete with it's Japy Freres movement pre 1900s. This clock is in full working condition. This is a non chiming clock. The case is wood. Some minor marks located around the case as to be expected. The front has a glass door and the hinge is great. The face I believe to be porcelain. The back also has a door with convex glass. This clock is in beautiful and stunning condition with no further work needed and is running perfect. The glass at the back is new as I had it repaired. The brass figure on top may have been re-fitted with a newer screw as some stage but is not seen from the front or side views. NO E-CHECKS PLEASE. Beautiful old clock in very good cosmetic condition as found as shown. No chips or cracks. I believe the movement is not original to the clock. Looks like a balance spring type movement and i'm sure this clock should have a movement with a pendulum. This does run but needs to be serviced. Sometimes it only runs for a few hours and other times it will run for 10 or 12 hours. This measures 15 1/2" tall X 8 7/8" wide. See photos and check out the other old clocks i have listed.
