ANTIQUE French Garniture Mantle Clock Set 1800's Bronze Brass Marked Dostal Key This is a beautiful set. Incredibly heavy and ornate, in need of a little TLC. The exterior is either bronze or brass and at one time had been all gilded. When I purchased it, it looked rough and someone had tried to polish it with brass cleaner. My goal was to remove all the dried up brass cleaner and have it regilded. Unfortunately, I had no time or money to get this done. It has sat in the garage just begging to be fixed up. It's also missing a spear or sword on the cherub. It measures 22 inches high by 11 inches wide by 6 inches deep. It has an enamel face which is in a very clean condition with no major chips or cracks. There is some minor wear to the inside portion of the holes where the key went. The hammer to the bell has been resoldered at some ... morepoint. There are some holes on the back of the candelabras which may suggest they had armatures to each, or not. Just disclosing all I can find. The underside of the clock is marked with"DostaI 351" and on the back of the clock mechanism I see a 3 and a 5. Each candelabra is marked"C.D. 351" confirming this is a matched set. It's currently working, a beautiful bell strike on the hour and half hour. But I haven't been able to get any clocks to ship and work at the destination, so consider it in need of a"tuning" when you receive it. This is an extremely heavy set and will cost quite a bit to ship. My shipping estimate won't cover it all since it will need to be shipped in separate boxes. Normandy Region Eighteenth century French single handed lantern clock having posted frame construction. Recoil ancor escapement, and long pendulum(approx. 1 1/4 seconds) The clock uses countwheel striking to strike the hours and halves on a beautiful sounding bell which is mounted above the clock. All wheels appear to be original and there are no holes to suggest that the clock ever had verge escapement. The clock has a later backcock but original front cock. Pallet arbor, and pallets. The front cock has an old repair but is original. The clock has a later iron fold-up pendulum of the correct style, weight, and length. The original great wheels have had their click springs repaired, ... morebut they are functioning correctly. The clock was converted to Huygens endless cord at one point and is now reconverted to the original winding system. The blued steel hand is a piece of art in itself. The clock never had a minute hand. Both cast iron weights are later replacements but are nicely done and are of the correct weight to drive the time and strike trains. The duration is approximately 30 hours. The cast brass dial has beautiful detail and the brass Rococo casting above the dial features a Sun King. One of the sun's rays appear to have been broken off a long time ago. The lugs which attach the Rococo casting to the dial has been correctly repaired with lead solder. The lugs are still there and are rivetted to the dial. The enamel cartouches with Roman numerals have several cracks and some losses. The cartouche at 4:00 is an ancient replacement with a slightly different color. The cartouches are held in place by an original iron backplate. And their"feet" have some old glue holding them. The corner posts of the frame are lathe turned. Made in one piece, and pinned to the top and bottom plate. The finial to the bell spider is an old replacement. Case sides

For sale is a Louis XVI portico clock set. The maker is Marti and it recieved the Medal of Honor in 1900. The base material is white polished marble with streaks of dark grey and amber. The clock and urns are decorated with ormolu. The clock face is porcelain with Arabic numerals and a delicate hand painted floral pattern around the numerals. The hands are ornate French hands. It is missing the pendula. And don't know if it's working. I find no breaks or repairs to the Marble. The porcelain face is in good condition with no cracks. Fine french movement by S. Marti& Cie. Medalle d' Argent in round body set in a chariot drawn by two goats and adorned by Bacchic cherub,putti. Mounted on a rectangular marble base with acanthus edging and paw feet. The two matching covered urns are festooned with garlands and ribbons and have finely detailed mythical fauns playing instruments on each side. One urn is slightly crooked because there is a ring that the body of the urn rests on that is detached slightly from the shaft. Unusual Petite Early 1900's Antique French Marti Era Mantle Mantel Shelf Clock

Please scroll to the bottom of the pictures and read the terms under our last picture. This is another clock from the estate of a collector that we have been selling for the last 6 weeks or so. What makes this clock different is the petite size. It measures 13 3/4" wide. 3 1/8" deep and the dial is only a 3 1/2" diameter, including the case it's about a 5" diameter. Cute as a button! This is a French clock in a mahogany case. The movement is signed"Made In France" has a lion stamped on to it and just to the right of the lion are the letters" H& H" There are other markings on the clock but I think those are from the repairman. The dial is ... moremarked France as well. The dial may be porcelain and is covered with a bevel glass convex glass bezel. The movement is sitting a little crooked inside the case as the 12 is not centered as shown. The solid mahogany case is nicely scrolled but there are dings and scrapes which should be clearly evident in the pictures. This clock rests on little brass ball feet. I cannot get this clock to run. I do not have the key so I took a pair of needle nose pliers and carefully wound the clock a little to check to see if it runs. FRENCH ART DECO MIRRORED CLOCK by MARTI This is a superb example of the French Art Deco period. The clock is 62cms long. 11cms deep and 29cms high. a great centre piece for a fireplace or cabinet. It sits on 4 brass'legs' Which support a black stone plinth. The clock is mirror-faced with brass workings. The dial sits on a brass base. The dial is flanked by 2 brass'stags' typical of the era. As can be seen from the photographs. The clock was made in France, by clock maker MARTI. The clock is in working order. This item is very heavy and fragile. So COLLECTION would be advised. Here is a good antique French clock pendulum with a larger-size bob. This is an adjustable pendulum with a bottom adjustment wheel. The overall length is just under 7 1/4 inches(181 mm) The bob can be raised over a range of nearly 1 inch(24 mm) The bob's diameter is 2 1/8 inches(54 mm) The weight is 5.8 oz(162 grams) The brass of the bob has been polished on one side. A French Clock Movement w. Outside Escapement, working, circa 1890
Here is an antique French clock movement with outside(visible) escapement. I t would fit a case hole of diameter 4 3/4 inches(121 mm) or greater. Up to nearly 5 inches. Note the very fine curved teeth of the escap e wheel. Indicative of a finer grade of des ign. The maker of this movement is marked on the bezel rim: CLF" This movement appears to be in working condition. I wound up the springs. Put it on the test stand, hung an appropriate pendulum on it- and it ran for 12 hours until I took it down. The strike train also works. That said. I do not know when it was cleaned last, nor how many days it might run without stopping. So it is offered as is. As described and as pictured. There are some faint hairline cracks in the inner and outer dials. Early 19th C French Empire Bronze Mounted Cartonnier Desk w. Leather Top + Clock
Here is another top of the line item carrying a thrift shop price. This is a Mid 19th Century Napoleon III Boulle Bureau Plat(Bureauplat) Better yet Bronze Mounted Tortoise and Scrolling Brass Inlaid Leather Top Desk. This work of art can still be used for the purpose it was made for, however it is an eye candy with a writting surface covered in original dark(navy) blue Moroccan tooled leather(gold edges) wich has darkened with age to almost black appearance. Quality of bronze mounts is a 10+. They are classic French III Empire mounts, on the edges with saboes on the bottom. Cabriole legs matching in front and back, flanking a single drawer. Greatest feature of this desk is in it's inlay which carries many different prescious stones and metals, you will see in the photos(lapis, etc) There are areas of inlay where metal is other than brass, ... moresome silver in nature as well as copper. Also there are small nail heads throughout the piece, giving it an interesting detail. Unusual and great. An Antique Bronze Swing Clock on a Cast Bronze Base. Stands 16 1/2" tall from base to top of clock. The figure is 13 1/2" tall to top of arm holding the clock. This peice has beautiful patina. There is fantastic detail in everything from the hands and feet to the hair and clothing all the way down to the cast bronze base which has Art Nouveau design. Age is apparent in the base. All the edges are smooth and there is wear in spots around the top. It does need adjusting to keep the swing clock swinging. It will swing and tick approximately 15 minutes then slows down. No markings other than the 3840 stamp on the bottom which. Through several hours of internet research, I found mention of the 3840 number on one site about Ansonia Swing Clocks and this number is the number of ticks from the inside weight you should hear per hour as the ... moreclock swings. The cast bronze base appears to be unusual also. It seems that the majority of swing clocks are on a solid base. But If you find a site with many pictures of antique Ansonia Swing clocks you will find more examples of cast metal bases than other sites. Obviously I can't say for sure just what age this is but it is very similar to many of the unmarked antique swing clocks circa 1890's to 1910 presented on the in-depth websites on antique swing clocks. This clock is new old stock, assembled in USA several years ago and in storage since. The clock measures 10 1/2" diameter at the front side and 11 1/2" diameter at the back. The clock is made of brass finished metal sheet. The lens on the hinged bezel is glass, not plastic. Steel Hands. The movement is a quartz AA battery type, made in USA. Battery is included. Antique French Striking and Repeating Carriage Clock
Antique French repeating carriage clock. The clock strikes the appropriate number of hours on the hour and again on the half hour. And will repeat that number when you depress the small button on top of the clock. The gong sounds deep and clear. The striking and repeating mechanism works well. But the clock is currently not running. Both mainsprings appear to be intact and wind correctly, so I think the problem is with the platform escapement. I don't work on these delicate movements, so I can't pinpoint the problem further. The case is made of brass and thick, beveled glass. There are two small chips in the top corner of two of the glass panels, but they are hardly noticeable. This large antique mantle clock retains its original Gold Gilt surface. At the top is an ancient medieval King on horseback. Measuring across the front, this Victorian mantle Clock is 17” long by 5” deep and the overall height to the top of the King’s crown is 18” There are some problems with this clock. The horse and rider are attached and there is a break to the foliage at the back of the clock. There also is a break to the horse’s right rear leg. I found another break to the tip on the detailed frame around the 4” diameter porcelain face. This clock never had a glass crystal and you can see fine hairlines to the porcelain face. Both springs are in perfect, strong, condition and this clock is ticking without its pendulum. When I went to hang the original pendulum I realized that the two small pins and spring steel piece are missing. Antique Marble Mantel Clock w/ French Movement Floral Painted Enamel Face for re
While living in Belgium I purchased this clock and had it restored at a local clock shop close to where we lived at the time. When we moved back to the states. Despite careful packing, the bracket the movement is attached to became loose and it broke the enamel face around the hands. I could not get it to work properly after that move with the damage and all. It is unfortunate but hopefully can be once again restored by someone with the talent. It has a wonderful delicate bell chime that I always found very charming. The only markings that I was able to find we the numbers 2443 52 stamped on the movement directly under the bell and the pendulum which is stamped 2445. The key is included as well. Cosmetic defects are that it looks like is must have had a brass decoration under the face because there are tiny holes and some old adhesive on ... moresome sort. This is a very fine and beautiful Antique Clock in the Art Nouveau style made of gilded bronze and dating from the early years of the last century. There are some words and numbers stamped on the bottom of the back. But they are illegible. This clock has a new movement and keeps perfect time. Very often the cases for these clocks were made in France for export and sale in the States. I cannot be sure if this is the case with this clock. But. Considering its early date, I think it would be more rare if it were American made, since the Art Nouveau Movement was still in its early years even in Europe. The Art Nouveau movement was an international philosophy and style of art. ... moreArchitecture and applied art, especially the decorative arts, that was most popular from 1890 to 1910. It was a reaction to the academic art of the 19th century, inspired by natural forms and structures, not only in flowers and plants but also in curved lines. Our clock has the typical curving lines and foliage- a bouquet of flowers above the dial. And two more flowers near the bottom- often seen in Art Nouveau objects. It also has a charming figure of a beautiful young woman whose right arm and long gown are made to seamlessly blend into the structure of the case. The entire case has been gilded. But some of the gilding has naturally worn away. It may look in the photos as if all of the gilding were still intact. This is a trick of the light and also, possibly part of the original design. Under the gilding is a layer of gold paint, which, except on close inspection, seems to fill in for the worn gilding. You may be able to notice this in some of the detailed photos. There is no damage to the clock. It stands securely and keeps perfect time. The dial and movement are new and work perfectly.
