Yet few people understand how the process actually works. Although mechanization has facilitated the lost wax process of bronze casting. The procedure is basically the same as that used by the Chinese when they first developed the process in the 2nd millennium BC. The Rubber Mold. First the artist creates an original sculpture out of any number of media. Including stone, wax, clay, wood and pottery. This image is coated with a silicone rubber molding material that makes two rubber mold halves(each rubber mold has a front and a back piece) A fiberglass outer shell is added to the back of each mold so it retains its shape and rigidity during subsequent uses. 18C 1753 FRENCH LARGE SEVRES PORCELAIN VASE BRONZE MOUNTED HAND PAINTED NoRES This listing is for a 18th century Sevres porcelain hand painted vase with gilt bronze mounts. The vase dates to the first year of Sevres general production 1753-1754. It measures 18 1/2 or 47 cm high. It measures 11 inches or 28 cm wide at the handles. The base is marked with the Sevres mark with an"A" and an impressed"H" The vase is beautifully decorated and Sevres used a variety of techniques to achieve this decorative beauty. The body and the foot of the vase are connected by a bolt and long stud. The gilt bronze ormolu base is also held to the vase by the same means. The body of the vase itself has both flat and raised porcelain work. The raised work of the two applied gold leaf handles continues into the body of the vase and flanks both ... morehand painted reserves. The reserve on the front shows a sweet scene of two young women conversing in a bucolic setting as a small smiling girl folds laundry. The reserve in the back of the vase is a basket filled with roses hanging from a purple ribbon. This reserve has a hand painted leaf and berry border. The background of the vase and foot are in Sevres Celeste blue and white. The design is cleverly done with white and applied gold dots simulating a field of flowers. The top of the vase is fluted and scalloped and has much applied gold. The condition overall is excellent and the bronze foot is original to the vase. Both ends of the handles show old restoration. This restoration is limited to the very ends of the handles and does not extend to the body of the vase or the rest of the handles. A beautiful example of early Sevres porcelain work. Superb Antique French Bronze Clock Set Japy Freres ~ French- Circa 1870 ~. ~~ Excellent condition. Fully overhauled ~~. A superb original antique bronze clock set. The movement by Japy Freres and the case and candelabra cast by the famous bronze foundry of H. Luppens et Cie of Brussels. The backplate of the movement has both marks and the set was also retailed by H. Luppens from their Paris premises. It is of stunning quality. Beautifully modelled and exquisitely finished. It is in the Baroque style and features a pair of dolphins supporting the pillars to each side of the case. The case is elaborately modelled with finely fretted panels of stylised foliage a goddess mask to the base and a large gadrooned urn to the top. Candelabra are conforming in style with two branches supported by dolphins to the base and two set lower to the front and ... moreback. The dial is also bronze with 12 individual enamel cartouche letters with blued steel hands. Convex glass and a modelled and fretted dial surround. The French movement is by Japy Freres and has the makers mark on the backplate along with that of H. Luppens of Paris. It is fitted with the superior pin-pallet escapement and rack striking. It is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a replacement. Beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration, there are one or two marks or scratches. one finial is slightly distorted. A lovely set of Art Deco bookends in an excellent condtion. The peacocks are sculpted in fine detail in a quality bronze which has a beautiful patina due to its age. The base measures 12 x 8 x 2cms and is 17cms high to the tip of the peacock's tail. The base is of soft pink and grey marble.the pink is not as bright as it seems in some of my photos. I was trying to highlight the detail on the tail feathers. The urn measures 21 inches or 53.5 cm high to the top rim. And is 7 ¾ inches or 19.5 cm at its widest. The urn features a large hand painted portrait of a courting couple in an outside garden setting. It is signed on the lower right. But is hard to make out. The back features a lush landscape with a flowing creek and a stone pillar on one side. The side of urn has two bronze handles with floral relief work. The base is stepped with a cobalt blue glaze and applied gold. The condition of the urn is as follows; it is missing its cover. It features a broad flamed mahogany veneered top over golden oak secondary woods, the top shapely with active movement in the form, projecting over the conforming desk in a gilt brass rounded rim that culminates at each corner in a floral and acanthus inspired mount. Guerin, Inc. at its present location at 21-23& 25 Jane Street in 1892. P.E. Presented here is an exceptionally finely made Bronze Crystal Regulator. It has a simple elegance as demonstrated by the clean lines and precise casting of the bronze trim. Feet and frame. It is unusually heavy because of this high quality casting. The fabulous decorated porcelain face is enhanced by the gold plated highly decorative hands. This is an eight day clock that chime on the hour and half hour and keeps accurate time that can be adjusted by raising or lowering the nut on the bottom of the pendulum. Clock is manufactured by the world famous Jappy Fierres Clock Company. It has a real mercury pendulum!
