This beautiful French curtain tie back is made from bronze and has a lovely design with wreath and bow and acanthus leaf decoration. It has a bracket at the back for fixing with the makers mark of 389. The back plate measures 12cms long and will project approx 12cms. The tie back is in good condition but does have loss to the original gilding and a little Verdi gris commensurate with age. French antique bronze( iron- Three door bells or CHIMES- Quite melodious! My lovely daughter-in-law's french grandfather gave this to her many years ago. She gave several items to me to free up closet space thinking I could sell it on eBay. So here it is. Now if you like wind chimes. These have a most desirable ring to them. This could also be used as a good old days style door bell. Actually, this looks more like a door bell arrangement with the dinger hingey than wind chimes so you get a twoferone kind of deal. Each of the three chimes is about 2.75" by 1.5" by 2.5" without the two top holders. Hanging height is about 12 3/4" including the twisted metal instigator. The piece is in excellent condition and left untouched. I found no similar pieces online to enable me to date this with some accuracy as to age so I am ... moreconfident it is like the bell(also for sale as another item) Circa 1900 seems about right. French antique bronze & iron - door bell - Accompanied by a bracket for hanging.
My lovely daughter-in-law's french grandfather gave this to her many years ago. She gave several items to me to free up closet space so here it is. The bell is larger than similar bells I have seen online. This bell has a number 140 or 40 as shown. The diameter is almost four inches(4" and the height to the top including the do-hickey used to attach the chain is also almost four inches(4" or about 100MM if I read the tape correctly. At the top of the clock sits a well modelled cherub. The face of the clock is enamelled& decorated with delicate floral swags. The clock seems to be in working order and is happily ticking away on my desk. However i have not run it for a period of time to see how well it keeps time. Reverse of the clock movement is stamped MADE IN FRANCE. Although it is working i am selling this with no guarantee as to working order as clocks can sometimes get shaken during delivery and then may require a little TLC to put right. I am offering a diamond in the rough a beautiful antique French gilded bronze and hand painted porcelain mantle clock made by the renowned French clocks maker Samuel Marti et Cie. This piece was made between 1860 and 1870. Based on the early serial number of 1989. Movement stamped“S. Marti et Cie Medaille de Bronze” in a circle. Samuel Marti was awarded the Bronze Medal in 1860. as well as the hand stamped serial number and the makers mark, there is an interesting mark in the left side of the back plate which is a square with the capital letters C,J,C,C. Please view all photos for these marks and for the overall condition and appearance of this beautiful time piece. This is a working mantle clock and it strike the chimes on the half and whole hours. The condition of this piece is excellent. But need a cleaning to make it glow. The hand painted ... moreporcelain dial and the associate plates are in perfect condition. The back cover is missing, but can be replaced. The front glass cover is perfect. The key and the pendulum are replacements. The pendulum is an original for this type of movement, but comes from a different clock. This clock measures approximately 15.5" tall by 9.25" wide by 5.5" deep. Samuel Marti et Cie were well known clock makers in Paris in the mid eighteenth century. In 1860 it's known that their premises were situated at Le Pays de Montbeliard and in 1863 Marti worked with two other well known clock maker's Roux. And Japy Freres in promoting their clock movements. This type of clock is unique and valuable. Other examples sell for well over $2000 at auction and higher on the open market. Maintain this piece and it will only increase in value. I am offering this clock for a very reasonable starting bid with NO RESERVE. French Bronze Lyre clock that measures 19.5 inches tall and 6.75 inches wide. The clock is circa 1820 with great detail throughout. Porcelain or enamel panels at the base are undamaged.
