I CANNOT SAY I HAVE EVER SEEN A MEDAL LIKE THIS BEFORE. RATHER STRANGE. BUT VERY RARE. It is uniface. Of silvered bronze, and shows a FRENCH soldier in a forage cap looking with open-mouthed astonishment. He has"13" on his collar, so perhaps he was in the 13th Regt of Infantry. The engraving of the figure is excellent, very sharp and incisive, and the medal has a fine patina. The ribbon is rather ragged, but it is the original and is 100 years old. DIAMETER 1.1" 27mm. Spectacular Vintage French Six Light Porcelain and Bronze Chandelier. A beautifully decorative vintage chandelier in porcelain and bronze. It has an unusually shaped large bronze ceiling rose with embossed swags and plumes giving a lovely shape to the rim. And a suspension chain of alternate plain and fancy links which attaches to the chandelier with a pretty bronze hook. The porcelain central column is in two parts. The first being urn shaped with a gently tapering body. The porcelain is white with a crackle glaze and is overlaid with beautiful sprays of pale blue roses and deep green foliage. In the centre and at the base is a fluted band highlighted in gold. A bronze pedestal underneath sits on the second porcelain section. Bowl shaped it is festooned with yet more delicate roses and a matching fluted relief. There is then a richly ornate ... morebronze centre section. Decorated with detailed leaves, stippling and fluting, all of which is repeated on the base contrasting splendidly with the plain centre band. From this centre band extend the six magnificent bronze arms. Uncommonly lengthy, and all rich with swirling swathes of plumage. The candle porcelain holders are smaller versions of the top half of the central column all with the same rich decorative details giving a beautiful sense of symmetry to the chandelier. All are complete with faux candle sleeves. The base of this wonderful chandelier is porcelain. Mirroring the candle holders and it is completed by a large bronze finial. In excellent vintage condition. The porcelain has no chips or cracks, and the bronze has a fabulous aged patina. An outstanding chandelier. Beautiful French"Marti" Antique Gilt Bronze or Spelter Figural Clock with Marble Base Working. Here is a gorgeous Antique French Gilt Bronze. Brass or Spelter Figural Mantle Clock with a beautiful Marble Base. The clock is in working condition and comes with the key. I am sorry I do not know how to tell the type of metal the figure is made of. The clock was made by"Marti" and the movement is stamped with the"Marti" Trademark. The trademark also has Meaille D'Or 1900 Paris. This fantastic clock measures 19.5" tall x 10.5" wide x 6.25" deep. The clock has a beautiful porcelain hand painted dial decorated in a floral pattern. There are no cracks. Breaks or repairs to the dial. The brass bezel and door open and close as they should and there are no cracks or breaks on the glass. The marble base ... moreis in excellent condition and is also adorned with gilt feet and an ornate gold gilt around the dial and bezel. The clock has a bell chime on the half and full hour counting down the hours. As stated earlier we are not certain as to what type of metal the figure is made from. The figure is in excellent condition with only one blemish. There is a repair to the wrist on the raised arm holding what appears to be a torch. At the base of the figure are what appear to be tools. There is a hammer. Chisel and what looks like a wheel or Cog. We feel this represents in some way the working class of the time. This is a beautiful heirloom clock from the turn of the Century. This listing is for a fine Chinese rose medallion porcelain charger mounted in gilt bronze mounts. This bronze mounted charger dates to the late 18th early 19th century. Circa 1790-1840. The charger in it's bronze mounts measures 9 inches or 23 cm high to the top of the handles. It is 15 1/2 inches or 39 cm wide from handle to handle. The charger measures 11 1/2 or 29 cm in diameter. The inside of the bowl is decorated in the center with a round medallion. Around this on the sides of the charger are four alternating scenes, two domestic and two floral. These four scenes are seperated by flowering roses and their leaves and vines. The paint pallet is in the typical rose medallion colors of red, blues, and greens. The bowl is mounted in gilded bronze. The gilding here is all ormolu and original. 1895 French Engraving On Bronze or Brass Short Haired Period Gentleman In Heavy Bronze Frame By P. Rodde For Your Antique French Art Collection Details Description: Antique signed and dated engraving on brass or bronze of a late 1800s. The engraving is of a woman with short hair and dressed in period clothing. The engraved plate is housed in a heavy Bronze frame and is covered with a piece of glass. The frame has a sliding back and when opened reveals three copies of a business card of the artist P. Rodde. The piece is signed“P. Rodde” and dated“1895” P. Rodde was a so called Bronze Fantaisies(or Maker of Bronze Novelties) Living at 43 Rue Notre-Dame de Nazareth. We assume P. Rodde was French but it is not clear what town he called home. This is a nice engraving with quite a bit of detail. The frame is decorated all along the edge with a ... morecast design. The frame has a loop on top for hanging. The entire piece could probably use a good cleaning, but we will leave that to the next owner. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description. Date: 1895 Origin: France Size: ~2 13/16 by 4 7/16" and is 3/8" thick. The engraved plaque measures 2 1/2" by 4" and weigh 2 ounces. The entire piece. Including three business cards of Rodde weighs a bit over 9 ounces. Maker: P. Rodde Marks: The engraved plaque is signed P. Rodde and dated 1895 Distinguishing Characteristics- Most Interesting About The Piece: Very nice and uncommon French antique art work. Condition: All in excellent condition. It could use a good cleaning. But we will leave that to the new owner. The glass covering the engraved plaque may not be original to the piece and is cut a bit small for the piece, but this can be easily replaced. Offered is a fine gilt bronze Art Nouveau urn by the Barbedienne Foundry in Paris. It is an art nouveau interpretation of a classical form. With finely modeled, pierced loop handles that continue down the sides ending in raised anthemion motifs. Realistic, high bas relief sculptures of blackberries adorn the front and back of the body. It is signed just under the rim, finely hand engraved, F. Barbedienne Paris. You can see from the photos how it retains most of its original doré bronze finish. It will clean up beautifully, I have not even washed it, but I am leaving it in estate found condition as everyone likes their own level of cleaning on gilt items like this. At some time this took a header and dented the rim on one side, and probably at the same time knocked off part of one of the berries. ARTS & CRAFTS- French Bronze Plaque by Marie-Alexandre-Lucien Coudray, 1864-1932
Up for auction is an exceptional Bronze Plaque by French sculptor and medalist. Marie-Alexandre-Lucien Coudray(1864-1932) She was a pupil of Dumont and Thomas, Allouard and Ponscarme. Awarded the Premier Grand Prix de Rome de Gravure en Medailles in 1893, awarded the Silver Medal at the Universal Exposition. Her signature can be seen on the obverse in the lower right hand corner- L Coudray" see 1st picture. This high quality work portrays a farmer and son plowing on the obverse while on the reverse is a single gleaner. Work dates to Circa 1900. Measures 4"wide by 2 1/2" high. It is stamped on the bottom rim"Bronze" and carries the Paris poincon of cornucopia marking. Some spotting to the original finish otherwise excellent. Please review both pictures.
