Figural clock. The clock has a Japy Frères movement it dates to the Napoleon III Period, circa 1869. It measures 16 ¼ inches or 41 cm high, and is 16 ½ inches or 42 cm at its widest, and is 6 ¾ inches or 17 cm deep. The clock is an elaborate sculpture with open work designs at the base and two figures at the top. The figures are white metal and in their original ormolu gold finish. The bottom front of the clock has scrolling acanthus leaves forming the feet which lead to lattice form with a large swag of flowers at the front. The figures at the top of the clock are an angel and a young girl ... morewith her hands clasped together. The angel has her wings open and as she looks down at the young girl she points her finger to the sky. The figures sit on an all bronze base. This also is in it's original ormolu gold. The dial of the clock is porcelain and measures 3 ½ inches or 9 cm in diameter with Roman numerals. The back of the clock is marked“2304” on the left foot, and in the center is“PH MOUREY 69” This is for Phillipe H. Mourey(1840-1910) who was a very noted and gifted sculptor, who was famous for designing/making clock cases in 19th century France. Japy Frères clock makers used his cases a lot so their association is well known. The numbers after his name note the year the case was made, in this case“69” for 1869. The movement is marked“2304 PARIS B& H” in a stylized cartouche. Along with“JAPY FRERES& CIE GRD MED. Measuring 3 1/2" long X 3 5/8" wide X 1 7/8" tall overall. The metal box case is beautifully detailed with gold gilt dore bronze over a burnished blue steel gunmetal base. The box is bottom marked simply"Acier Garanti" which means simply"fashioned of steel" This mark is likely French or Swiss in origin and is associated with the time period of circa the 1860's to 1870's. When the perfection of mass scale steel production by means of the Bessemer process made such wares possible. Both the sides and top are festooned with intricately detailed ormolu tendril highlights which were hand applied in the lavish style of ... morethe wares of the Louis XIV period. The pre 1900 box features a well rendered 2 1/8" portrait on porcelain of a comely young lass whose hair is coiffed in the manner of the day. Along with the tag that it came with and this is what she said: Cepelia is a store in Poland that sells all things Polish such as the arts and crafts works and including antiques that were produced in Poland. Your clock would have been produced there as well circa 1930 and sold as a vintage piece at Cepelia. A search of various clock movement from Poland did not yield a match to a maker name ending in welia. This is a French style art deco bronze and marble mantle clock Unfortunately the markings on the back are not clear enough to do further research as to where this clock came from exactly so basing price on comparable clocks. Impressive French Gilt Bronze Clock Rare Black Marble Dial Mantle Shelf Brass!!!
Up for auction here is one of the best looking French clocks I have ever had the pleasure to own. It is in near mint condition and displays wonderfully. It has a very rare black marble dial that is very uncommon on this style Bronze clock. The clock is all gilt bronze and not spelter. It stands an impressive 17-1/2" tall and 12-1/2" wide. It weighs almost 20 pounds. It features a Japy Freres movement circa 1860-1875. The black marble dial is signed. But I am uncertain of the exact wording. I believe it may have said Raby Troyes, but appears part of the bottom word is missing. The clock also features a very nice hidden top compartment? The top of the urn removes to store rings, jewelry, or coins? The back of the dial is signed and dated probably from a previous repair. Weigh several pounds each. I purchased these over 12 years ago at the Paris Antique Mart in Saint-Quen. Condition of each is excellent. With minimal wear to guilding, no major scratches and no dents. The candleholders in this photo appear to be not straight. However, they are adjustable and when candles are put into the holders, the candles are positioned at a 90 degree angle. BEAUTIFUL 19th CENTURY GILT BRONZE FRENCH ORMOLU SEVRES SHELF CLOCK
BEAUTIFUL 19th CENTURY GILT BRONZE FRENCH ORMOLU SEVRES SHELF CLOCK 19th CENTURY FRENCH GILT BRONZE ORMOLU SEVRES SHELF CLOCK You are bidding on a beautiful French shelf clock made in the 19th century. I need to first emphasize that I have no knowledge of French clocks so look at the pictures closely. I purchased the clock at a local auction in a non running condition. I removed the movement to examine more closely. The movement is very clean and is stamped 10774 and 45. There is also a stamp that says MEDAILLE DE BRONZE L. MARTI et Cie. Once again. I am not familiar with French clocks so I don't know what that represents. I have repaired a few and know that they are difficult to work on so I decided not to take this one appart. I did lubricate the pivots with some fine German clock oil and the movement would run on a clock stand. I did ... morenotice that the gong hammer had been broke before and had been soldered back on. Both the time and strike trains seem to operate smoothly. Whenever I placed the movement back into the case though, I could only get the movement to run for only three or four hours before it would stop. There is not a whole lot of room as the pendulum, verge, gong, and the back of the case are in very close proximity. The clock has to be perfectly level for it to run. I believe the verge may be making contact with the gong coil but am not for sure. The pendulum may not be original as the number is not the same as the movement number. The case is beautiful and flawless. It measures 14" tall, 7" wide, and 5 3/4" deep. The Sevres porcelain dial and front panel is wonderfuly painted with no cracks. The upper porcelain decoration is also perfect. I was told this is ormolu bronze but I don't know what that means. There is a name stamped on the back of the clock above the back door but I can't make it out. It is probably the sculptor. I am listing this clock as a non-working clock, but in the right hands, can probably be adjusted properly. I will wait until the clock sells before

The figures are cold painted in green with enamelled faces and hands. The figure are very finely detailed and the expressions are lifelike. Rare Antique French Crystal Regulator: a Bronze & Crystal Blue-Beaded Clock
Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 This unique and beautiful clock was made in approximately 1880. It was officially appraised by Mr. Bob Hamm(NAWCC 87134) of The Clock Shoppe. Restoration Professionals, Specializing in Sales and Service" or"Antique Clocks& Watches" and"Rare& Unusual Time Pieces" in Dallas, Texas to be worth $3,500 on September 10, 1993 and is likely worth even more now, twenty years later. The clock has a brass frame with clear beveled glass sides and a beveled glass and bronze door decorated by an outline of the porcelein semi-spherical dots. The door makes it much easier than to get the pendulum in its rigbt position. It has a lovely and resonant chime on the hour. And yet, it has never disturbed my guests' sleep no my own. At 1:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m. it chimes once, at 2:00 a.m. or ... more2:00 p.m. it chimes twice, etc. You can listen to a recording I made of the clock's eleven chimes at 11:00 p.m. a few days ago here: The brass key(5 cm by 5 cm by 0.5 cm) used to wind the clock. The original copy of the 1993 appraisal, and the envelope from The Clock Shoppe that contains the appraisal will be included. The bronze pendulum is decorated with many blue half-round dots as the front of the front face face are decorated. To prevent the peendulm to break something while being shipped; I will slide it off and wrap it well separately but in the same box along with my instructions I have written out. Dimensions: 27 cm tall. 18 cm long, and 12 cm wide. You can see the appraisal in this auction's picture gallery. I retyped the entire appraisal because reading scanned appraisals is hard on the eyes.
