Description: This is a beautifully crafted Vintage Art Nouveaux French Polychrome Bronze Bust Sculpture featuring a young Commedia dell'Arte Pierrot. It is playful and uplifting as well as masterfully sculpted. The contrast in colors are amazing in this rare illustration of character. Rich dark aged brown and a wonderfully cool copper oxide colored frilled collaret. A unique styled hat featuring a strip across the middle is not common for Pierrot. The patina is partially hand rubbed back to reveal varied and complex golden ... morebronze highlights which are evident on the facial area contrasted by subtle shadows in recessed areas. The resulting patina is rich and traditional and will appear different in different light settings. In a dark room the patina will appear dark and aged but under light the incredible golden brown patina will be revealed. Under direct sunlight or the photo flood lights used in these photographs. The finish will appear brighter and lighter than normal. The areas on the busts which are normally black such as hair have a very subtle black patina applied over the finish which is then rubbed back. To prevent tarnishing. The patina is sealed with a lacquer coating and buffed with bronze paste wax. Although the surface is durable. Care should be exercised to avoid scratches with metallic objects. It measures approx. 27 inches tall and approx. 15 inches wide at the bottom. Signed on the back under the woman's buttocks. I am selling this as a copy of Aristide Maillol and not an original. It does have some age though. I would guess 1860s or 70s. This comes from an amazing estate that was full of original and other art and antiques. It was quite dirty when I found it but a quick cleaning etc and it came up beautifully. All it needs is a nice marble pedestal to sit on.

Stalin Bust in cast Bronze dated 1946 Artist Signed Measures 10" approx. 26 cm) tall. 6" wide across the shoulders; diameter of the plinth is 3 ½" at the base. Weighs 8 lb. Produced by the famous Kasli Iron Works. The back of the plinth is marked"1946" and shows the name of the sculptor who had created the original artwork, P(avel) Anikin" This very impressive image is harking back to traditional portrayals of the heroes of antiquity or more recently. The well known series of busts of Russian Emperors(even though the sculptor would categorically deny any of that) The Soviet leader is in dress uniform of Generalissimo with full chest of decorations. Note however that unlike the later portraits, he is wearing only one Order of Victory and a single Hero Star. This late war image of Stalin is far less common ... morethan the far more familiar post-WW2 or pre-war depictions. In excellent condition. There are no dents. Noticeable dings or rust. The original black finish is extremely well preserved having nice patina age and chasing on the work. This would be a museum piece. Stalin himself would have had to approve of this sculpture before production. Many of these were destroyed during the" De-Stalinazation" period in the late 50's under Khrushchev. The size is ideal for a display on a bookshelf or mantel; this can be an outstanding conversation piece and a superb focus point of a WW2 militaria collection.

Hollow bronze bust of Mao Zedong. The bust is 6 inches tall. It is 4 ¾ inches wide from shoulder to shoulder. And 2 ½ inches from front to back. There is inscription on the base in what looks to be Chinese characters. But it is quite worn away. It also appears to show Zedong’s year of birth and death with the inscription 1893-1976. See pictures. The bust rattles when it is shaken. But there is no sign of major damage to the outside of the piece. See pictures for details. Also known as the Terme Boxer, is a Hellenistic Greek sculpture dated around 330 B.C. of a sitting nude boxer at rest, still wearing his caestus, a type of leather hand-wrap, in the collection of the National Museum of Rome. It is one of the two unrelated bronzes(the other being the unidentified Hellenistic Ruler) discovered on the slopes of the Quirinal within a month of each other in 1885, possibly from the remains of the Baths of Constantine. This chalkware Art Nouveau statue measures just under 13" tall and 8" across the shoulder area. It is embossed on the lower side with CLEOPATRE. The bronze paint is in excellent condition with no chips(and no blue! A few of the tips of her hair were broken and sanded as well as the center of her crown. This was done prior to painting her. None of this stands out but you can find them upon close inspection. It weighs 5 1/2 lbs prior to packaging. Really a fabulous Art Nouveau piece! Thanks for looking! I am not a c ollector. Who, in Greek mythology, was turned into a myrtle tree while trying to escape a love-crazed Apollo. Alternatively, it could represent the goddess Aphrodite. For whom the myrtle was sacred. The piece measures 9" tall and 4.5" across at the widest point. It is in good condition for its age. With some light wear to the bronze finish, mostly on the nose, chin, and shoulders. This is a souvenir paperweight that has a statue of King Tut or some other Pharaoh on it. The figure is probably made of base metal and has a bronze factory patina finish on it. It is set on an Alabaster base. The base measures 2 1/2 X 3 1/2 inches and is 5/8 of an inch high. The whole thing measures 3 1/2 inches high. There is no makers mark on this. It has the look of an Alva Museum Miniature but they usually have wooden bases so I doubt that they made it. It may have been sold as a souvenir of a Museum or possibly sold as a souvenir in Egypt. This weighs just a little over one pound. This is a 19th century bronze bust by P J David. Also know as David d'Anvers. David was a celebrated French sculptor and medalist. The bust bears both the foundry mark, REPRODUCTION MECANIQUE A Collas de Brevete, and the sculptor's mark, P J David 1830(pictured) It has the original brown patina. It measures 7 1/2" in height X 6 1/2" at the shoulders and is a lost wax casting. It weighs slightly less than 4 lbs. It is in very good condition for its age(approximately 184 years) This was acquired by my grandfather from the estate of a close friend in the 1950's in New York City. It has since stayed in the family and is now in my home.
